The specs on paper still sound good today but i wonder how the response times and overshoot would compare using these same tests (nobody really did these tests back then). Hi Hardware Unboxed, I am in the process of buying a 240hz monitor and I am stuck between buying this and the BenQ ZOWIE XL2546S. I know the Zowie is a TN panel and lacks colours compared to the 27GN750 but I will be exclusively using this monitor for FPS Gaming. Is it safe to say the Zowie is a better pick for FPS Gaming?

Also, when you showed us the calibrated results, you meant the kind of calibration where we need specialized hardware and testing in our own monitor to achieve? Or we can achieve that by, for example, downloading a color profile for this monitor from your Patreon? I'm somewhat aware that calibrating the color gamut of a given model is different from calibrating for the specific deviations of your unique panel

May I ask what osd settings is best with black stabilizer off? I have always found that black stabilizer is really bad for contrast as the blacks are brighten, but when I turn that completely off, it is way too contrasty.

I would really like to see a review of MSI's 1440p 165hz monitors. Their original line where typically the best preforming VA until they where removed from the list (for the reviews being older than others). Given how well the first run did I'm very curious on how their new 165hz models compare. Also a lot of people are sleeping on these which is actual nice with many other popular monitors selling out (with no known return date) in the US.

I'm awaiting a 27" non curved IPS 144hz 1440p with HDR600. Won't be cheap im sure, but that would offer everything I'd need. I use my pc for gaming, as well as photography, music mixing and 3D modelling.

Is there any chance you can compare which is the best gaming console monitor to purchase? I am moving from TV to Gaming Monitor for when the PS5 releases. I am torn between getting a lg 27GL850-B or simply a different monitor. lg 27GL850-B cost like $499.99 and if I don't get it, it shoots up on Amazon at around $680-1500 dollars which is crazy. For console, I want to know if the input lag is much less and if it will still be 1440p with 120hz and 1 ms responds time on Fast setting. That would be for PS5 though as PS4 can only do 60hz. But it will be great to have a Gaming Monitor that I can use for PS4/PS5 and my future Gaming PC.

The unfortunate thing here is that specs are almost worthless when shopping for a monitor, and that can make it very frustrating. It seems that every brand (and their dog) claims to have a sub 1ms, 144Hz or better, IPS display. And yet so far there's few that can actually hope to match those figures IRL. Most of the time they aren't even telling you what they are measuring to achieve that 1ms figure. The monitor in this review measured something like 2.2 ms at 240Hz (grabbed that from memory so I could be a bit off, but it was over 2) Gray to Gray (G2G) with overdrive set to Faster. That is a very good figure, and yet it's also unusable as with that overdrive setting there is significant overshoot for more than 25% of all colors. Setting the monitor to Fast instead raises the G2G time but gets rid of just about all the overshoot. Note that I'm not putting down the Asus VG279QM, I'm just saying that it's not as easy as reading the specs when trying to figure out what monitor to buy. As for the Asus monitor I simply have no idea how it performs. In the end all that matters is that it is good enough for your usage. As an example I'm personally using a Acer VG271U. It's an IPS 1440p 144Hz monitor that's advertised as a 1ms monitor. Let's just say that it isn't any where near 1ms any way you measure it. It's also said to be HDR capable, but it isn't really. But it's fine for what I use it for. It's way faster than any monitor I've had before, and I have it dialed in to where the colors look good and it won't burn out my retinas like what I experience with "real" HDR monitors, so I'm reasonably happy with what I've got. But at the same time I would have been very disappointed if I had really been looking for a 144Hz or better monitor with HDR that could strike me blind with a quick flash of a searchlight in a game.

Hi i really Like your Professional gaming Display reviews. what is your opinion about g-sync vs free sync. Especially the Low framerate Gaming. As i play a Lot of star Citizen my framerate often Drops below 48 fps. Which is below the variable refresh rate of free sync Monitors. I know u can mitigate this Problem a little Bit with lfc. How do u See the Low framerate Performance comparing g-sync vs a a free sync Monitor with lfc? Maybe u coulde even do a Video about this topic?

Tim PLEASE HELP!!! I have two 27" monitors, one is 144Hz and the other is 60Hz. I get lots of stutter and lag when I'm gaming on the main 144Hz and watching videos (Hardware Unboxed of course) on the second 60Hz monitor at the same time. This seems to be a very common but never discussed issue. It would be great if you could look into this as I think it will help a lot of people that are struggling with this. I'm using GTX 1080ti and displayport cables

I have the VG259QM, the 24.5 inch variant of that monitor. Its great. Only problem, which basically all 240hz class IPS panels suffer from, is that no single overdrive setting works accross the whole refresh range. It has 6 options for OD, 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100. 60-100hz, use 40, 100-200hz, use 60, and anything above 200 use 80.

I had this monitor and returned it because of how awful desktop work was (Excel cells looked blurred, for example). Gaming was very good, but 1080p in 27 inches is not good enough for anything else.
