Just ordered this for my cockpit which is used for racing and flight sims (I have a racing wheel and HOTAS mounted). Looking forward to playing Assetto Corsa Competizione and Elite Dangerous on it. Using it with my cockpit would also make more sense as it won't be on all the time which lowers the chance of screen burn. I don't think it will work on my desk, the most distance I would be able to achieve from eye to screen would roughly be 35cm. In my cockpit it would be 70cm when using my peripherals and 85cm during normal gaming with a controller and the seat pulled back. Still closer than recommended viewing distance but can't do much about that as it's a fixed mount.

@@FIREWOLFTECH Will do. It arrives on Tuesday. I'm pretty hyped for it. I've been wanting an OLED screen for my PC for a while. I've also moved the PS5 to the back room where my rig is in preparation so that I can play GT7 as well (I don't have a wheel in my living room and I share that OLED with my wife). At 42 inches I'm hoping that once I dial in the FOV there should be enough screen space to allow use of the in game car mirrors. But yeah it is a lot of fun, especially in VR. It doesn't get used as much though... It's hassle to set up and I need make sure my dogs aren't eating my house lol

@@FIREWOLFTECH Got it all set up today. So I do have some glitching on screen which seems to be caused by my HDMI cable. It is up to super speed spec (48Gbps) but I'm guessing the quality isn't good enough so I have a new one on order. I needed a second cable anyway because I had a brain fart and forgot that TVs don't come with HDMI cables. That aside, it looks fantastic compared to the monitor I was using (Coolermaster GM34 ultrawide). It mounts quite easily to my cockpit and I even installed one of the legs to use as a makeshift holder for my headphones. The OS itself is nice and snappy although you do have to jump through a couple of hoops if you're hopping between screens like I am. I noticed the auto dimming was very aggressive out of the box but the update seems to have fixed that issue. I really like the game optimiser UI which is great as this screen is almost exclusively for my PC and PS5. It also surprised me how reflections aren't quite as obvious on the glass panel. This may be my positioning but compared to my LG OLED in the lounge, it's a massive improvement. It performed as expected with PS5. I had a few blips when setting up as I like to turn off all post processing including black equaliser, however doing this murdered dark details so I put it back. Also note that when using on PC you need to choose 4K under PC resolution in Nvidia control panel, and NOT 4K in the UltraHD/HD section (you won't get above 60Hz). In the context of my racing rig, Gran Turismo 7 looked great however the game has incredibly limited options in terms of altering the cockpit view, so I couldn't get it to realistically match my position. That aside I had a blast and 42 inches gives enough scale to be able to judge corners properly. The only other thing I will say in regards to PC gaming is to be mindful of the gamma. I played some Elite Dangerous and the banding was absolutely horrific until I lowered the gamma in the options. So bare in mind that some games may need a visit to the in game brightness settings to get it looking right. All in all, I can't complain. And thank you for being one of the people I used in my research before purchasing. One thing I especially appreciated (intended or not) was that you showed your Nvidia control panel with the resolution settings in your video. This told me that I could have full dynamic range, RGB, 32bit colour depth, 12bit colour output, 120Hz and 4K at the same time. Not all screens allow you to use all features, for example my monitor has to be dropped down to 120Hz (from 144Hz) in order to enable RGB and full dynamic range. That was something I was specifically looking for so nice one.

I’ve been using a 65” CX as a main screen the last three years, mostly for Star Citizen and flight sims but it handles everything from COD to Diablo no problems. I’m still surprised by the quality years later. Just picked up a 55” C3 after getting a smaller standing desk. They’re such great screens. Nothing like a giant OLED for immersion.

@thatdrh yeah man, I finally found my happy medium with the C2. I don't like the Dolby vision I turned that setting off. I like the HDR I am able to get the colors I was looking for and the brightness as well finally. Only took about 2 days of frustration and about almost returning the d*** thing 🤣. I was aggressive with all settings until I finally got the sweet spot. I've owned my C9 since release back in 2018 or 19 something like that and no burn it or banding or anything on that TV. Main reason I baught C2 was just wanted a little upgrade from what I had. Luckily I got a deal off bestbuy for my 55 C2 I got it for 999 days ago and was stocked about the price so I can't complain to much about it 😂

@iXzenoS

Can you confirm whether the screen auto-dims at all when using the C3 as a PC monitor with static windows like browsers and apps (Photoshop, email clients, etc.)? I currently use a LG C1 and out-of-the-box the auto-dimming was so bad that it was basically unusable until I went into the service menu and disabled TPC (auto-dimming). With the C3 however, it's been reported that LG removed the TPC option from the service menu and there is no way to disable it. Instead, they supposedly 'fixed' the aggressive auto-dimming for moving content (like movies & games) but the screen may still auto-dim with static images. I use the C1 for professional work and simply cannot have the screen auto-dimming every now and then so this would be a deal-breaker for me if the C3 has auto-dimming issues but no way to disable TPC.
@FIREWOLFTECH

I feel like 55" is too big for my room so I just wanna try 42" to use it as a monitor at the same time but that 55" is just to eye candy for me cobsidering the price difference. I haven't tried the G7 mini led yet but it would come down to whether or not your room/space is very bright or gets light directly on the screen since OLED suffer in that case. I personally prefer OLED over any other display for its deep blacks and contrasts but these don't get as bright as other monitors/tvs so if you can control the lighting or usually play at night, then I would recommend the LG C3

For capturing and editing footage in DaVinci Resolve in HDR, are you using a DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K? I can record 4k HDR footage fine in OBS but when I upload it into DaVinci it is very washed out. @@FIREWOLFTECH Hey man - Firstly, thank you for taking the time to reply (and so quickly), appreciate it. So you're setup is single monitor, into a console and that's being captured on your PC through your Elgato capture card? Are you playing in HDR but just recording in SDR? Thanks for the input. When capturing footage (whilst gaming in HDR) are you just using normal e.g. H.264 MP4 capture in OBS?

@@duelsy you’re welcome ! I appreciate the comment. I currently have a 3-4 monitor set up (depending on if I have other monitors that I’m reviewing) HDR can be enabled individually, so normally I just enable it on the monitor I’m reviewing. OBS is opened up on whichever monitor I choose (it’s different every time depending on where I film) but that monitor won’t have HDR on. The capturing that I’m doing is off my Sony camera, so I’m not recording the actual gameplay, just the gameplay that my camera is recording, which in turn ends up being SDR. I don’t remember the OBS setting, all I know is that it’s the default 4K

It basically comes down to many games these days being optimized primarily for SDR with HDR being a bit of an afterthought. However, you can always adjust the HDR settings, or even just run the tv in SDR and you'll still get a great image.

Hi! Can anyone tell me is it possible to set the windows resolution to 1440p on this TV? And game at 1440p native, but then also somehow use TV image upscaling to 4k for the final result? My GPU can crunch only up to 1440p to give a stable 75hz. I heard that C2 can not be set to 1440p and is locked to 4k, and the image upscaling tech is unclear to me
@oldtimer666
@oldtimer666 10 ай бұрын
You can set the normal desktop resolution to 1440p on this easily but as far as i no i dont think you can "upscale" it to 4k. If you are talking about the ai upscaling technology this tv has that only works when you are using it as a tv but once you plug in to the pc its better not to use any of the ai settings on this as it would interfere with your viewing and overall gaming experience since your gpu is already working on the same thing .

@@oldtimer666 hi, I tested it all with the actual TV. Yes, upscaling aka "super resolution" is a gimmick. True motion though is nice, can be enabled on PC if in native 4k and 30 HZ. My main issue with the TV turned out to be the inbuilt dimming algorithm (burn-in protection) that can not be turned off (service control can, voiding the warranty). This dimming bullshit just destroyed my gaming experience, cuz after each bright scene it makes it all super dark for like 5 mins. Also the TV seems to sell my KZbin and Netflix data to 3rd parties (playlists, watch history, etc). Very intrusive. Also can not install Chrome to watch videos from websites, LG App store prohibits to download anything else than their solutions. I expected that I can at least chose a browser... I returned the TV. Gonna wait a year or so, when it's app policy gets more liberal. Or somebody makes it run Linux. The picture was nice, the device is far more capable as a standalone PC - needs to be unlocked by Linux masters.

I haven’t owned or tried out a C2 so I can’t talk about it. I rely on others who have experience using the C2 to put in their inputs in the comments section. Dont use this as a desktop monitor. Its not designed to be one, because its a TV. It has a glossy finish, so reading text is not optimal. Using the C3 as a desktop monitor will increase burn-in dramatically. The C3 also cant turn off auto dimming. 42 inch is way too large to be a monitor.
@FIREWOLFTECH
@FIREWOLFTECH Жыл бұрын
You're right that it's not intended as a desktop monitor but it doesn't stop people from using it that way. LG even added NVIDIA G-Sync specifically to enhance PC gaming. That glossy finish believe it or not is what many wish for in todays OLED monitors. As for the size, yes its huge, its not for everyone, but there are many that like that form factor.
@xPhantomxify

@@FIREWOLFTECH I think it's just a privileged hipster way of looking at it. It's nice with a PS5 or Xbox or PC while GAMING, since it's designed for that, but not as regular desktop use like browsing. White screens from browsing pages is not good for the C3. A glossy finish is not a pleasant experience while trying to read text, browse, code, etc.
@FIREWOLFTECH
@FIREWOLFTECH Жыл бұрын
@@xPhantomxify the reason why glossy is desired is because most high end laptops use glossy screens which look better than Matte displays. Of course a laptop allows you to maneuver the screen whenever there’s reflection. the appeal of glossy is there. For me, a semi gloss/matte is perfect. Now I do agree that a lot of the desktop use is not the most optimal, but you can’t deny the awesome screen real estate and beautiful display, it’s a trade off that many are willing to sacrifice. At the moment there aren’t many 4K OLED monitors (I don’t think there’s any) most are 1440P, so there’s another reason the C3 is chosen. I think when 4K OLED monitors hit the market, we’ll probably see less OLED TV’s being used as a desktop monitor
