Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I kzbin.infoUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

I know it's an old model but I got a brand new one for practically nothing the only thing missing is the connector that attaches the hose to the machine. You can't really see it in this video but I think I found one on Amazon.. if you saw one, do you think you could recognize it? Thanks

Bought the 8000 BTU unit. Nice looking but boy is it noisy. I expect a portable to noisy but this one also has unusual noises while the compressor was running. It sounded like crinkling paper at times as well as knocking noise. I am I sound sleeper but with the on and off weird noises, I couldn't get a good night's sleep. Had to return it after 2 nights of bad sleep.

As an HVAC service provider with 15 years experience I have to say these units are ONLY efficient if you use a model that uses two hoses one for Exhaust and one for intake. If you use a model like this that only exhaust the hot air, then you are creating a negative pressure in your home and that exact same amount of Hot Humid air air will have to infiltrate back into you home to make up the air going out your window. So what happens is the room you have this in will get cool but rest of the house will start to heat up. It is a deceitful design that manufactures know most people are too ignorant to figure out.

I know. Unfortunately I didn't have the money for one myself and this was a birthday gift from my parents so for what I use it for (nighttime cooling of the bedroom at bedtime) it gets the job done. Really only gets used for an hour or so . I set the timer right when I go to sleep.
@1qwasz126 жыл бұрын
You're nuts. Why does the expelled hot air have to travel back inside you're home. Hot air rises, dummy.
@xpresspkg9 жыл бұрын
I had mine up high so it could blow over the bottom end of my sleigh bed. The drain plug was unplugged so it never filled up. It drained onto the floor I guess. Anyway, it seemed to stop working this week, we're having a very unusual heat wave in Seattle at the end of June. I don't know if it's just too hot. I took it down to see if it needed to be drained, which of course it didn't. Anyway it seems to be working again for some reason, but I no longer hear the compressor. Any ideas why this might be? This is its second summer.

why does mine change from cold air to room temperature air. I have mine set at 70 degrees on cool and it randomly just stops throwing cold air even tho the room temperature is at 95
@rompn4x8 жыл бұрын
These machines are not as efficient as traditional window units. Because they pull ambient air from the room to cool the unit, and then its expelled outside it creates negative air pressure in the room thus pulling in hot air from another room through door cracks and other openings. I say a good rule of thumb is if your room calls for a 8,000 btu unit, get a 8,000 btu window air conditioner or a 10,000 btu standalone unit like this . You trade efficientness for portability.

can you tell me the cons of owning a portable AC
@rompn4x7 жыл бұрын
GoldenAge K-9 Its loud, bulky, less efficient then a window unit and pulls air from inside the house for the heat extraction, which causes warm air to come in the room thru doors and air leaks.
