I bought a 65" C3 because of this video. As Vincent said, everything just works. It detects everything correctly, it sets up everything, and it switches seamlessly between different sources. The picture is stonkin good too; if you're worried about it being too dark, don't be. It's way brighter than my previous LG CX.

@@bigbadslimee1000 percent agree definitely not mid range by any means. All 3 of these TVs be great depending on ones needs. I hate when people say that about these TVs. That’s like calling a Ferrari 488 mid because it’s not a LA Ferrari lol. I have an A80K it’s the farthest from mid range. Recommended a C2 to my uncle it’s fantastic too. Now my X90J is probably a little closer to mid but you can notice the A80K just looks better for movies and gaming. Like noticeably. I would say SDR is close but that’s crap off a cable box and a lot of programs not shot in 4K.

Can confirm that the BestBuy Geek Squad protection does indeed cover burn-in/image retention. I had the 5 year plan on my 2016 LG OLED C6P that started to go bad in the center of the display and at the end of additional warranty timeframe I upgraded through the protection plan to a 2021 LG OLED C1. Paid the difference in the cost of the 2 displays so I was only out about $400 and I got a massive increase in brightness and a bump in screen size.

@DasTechGuy
@DasTechGuy 11 ай бұрын
@@paws315 I gamed on it for basically the entire 5 years using XBOX One X, a PS4 Pro, and a PC. Had no complaints at all for the gaming experience. The burn-in actually started from Assassin’s Creed Origins given how insane the brightness for the HDR was in that game at times. To that end, it was in the middle of the display and unless you had a orange-ish/yellow-ish color around the middle of the display it wasn’t really that obvious to see. I noticed it but if you were to ask my wife she would have been oblivious.

@@DasTechGuy thanks! Odyssey was on my backlog, now I'm second guessing it. Is HDR even worth it 🤔
@DasTechGuy
@DasTechGuy 11 ай бұрын
@@paws315 Oh absolutely! HDR is a game changer! To clarify, I ran AC: Origins within the first couple hundred of hours of run time on the display. Those first few hundred hrs are super crucial for settling the panel and it is far more susceptible to burn-in. After about 300 hrs or so, the OLED panel will have settled and will be far less susceptible to things going bad quickly. Not saying it’s then completely safe but so long as you don’t have the brightness completely cranked to 100% and leave a static image on-screen for 20+ minutes without any interaction at all your chances for severe burn-in is lessened considerably. LG made a ton advances for the display panel in later models and from the 2019 models on the risk for burn-in keeps getting less and less even from the get-go.

Thanks for the good review! I'm looking for some advice now that I'm planning on buying a new TV, I have found some black Friday offers where I can get either Sony A80L 65", LG C3 77" or Samsung S95C 65" for roughly the same price (~2 180 Euro). I'm mainly watching series and movies via streaming services and the sofa is slightly more than 3m away from the TV. Before starting the research I was leaning towards getting a Sony as I have enjoyed previous year's version of that TV. However the discounts seems to be better for the other TVs, but maybe it's anyway worth to go for the slightly more expensive Sony. Would appreciate any advice!

Good brief comparison between these very popular midrange models. However, I miss Vincent's very detailed in- depth comparisons of two models he used to do. @makoto5280 Different perspectives from different expert is useful, and having more information available from those experts is better for those who can understand it. Summaries are useful, but so is full coverage. Why not both?
@floz9718
@floz9718 11 ай бұрын
@makoto5280 Well, it's usually quite helpful if you have a perspective in relation to other models. If Vincent says:"Model X handles near black pretty good", for example, it would be helpful to know what exactly that means. How much difference does it actually make if you put it next to model Y. When I bought my last TV (a 2020 model) he did those kind of videos to compare the models of the time. I was buying either the LG CX, Sony A8 or Panasonic HZ 1000 and Vincent's "vs- videos" were very helpful for that decision.
@floz9718
@floz9718 11 ай бұрын
@makoto5280 Vincent actually reveiled/found out more details quite a few times in the comparisons/vs-videos. Either because he went into more detailes the second time around or there was some kind of update in the meantime.
@floz9718
@floz9718 11 ай бұрын
@makoto5280True - it doesn't. However, it's pretty much the best one can do for deciding which TV to buy alongside with reading impressions of actual owners on the common froums. Comparing TVs in a brightly light store is pretty much useless ime. I have a store nearby which has all the major flaggships on display and I can tinker with them in the store (aka putting them in FMM and watch some YT- demos) and honestly, in these lighting conditions all Oleds look pretty much the same. The QD-Oleds did look a bit punchier/more colourful and I coudl see the raised blacks on the QD-Oleds but other than that it's hard separate them (I didn't see the G3 with MLA in person yet though). The areas I am interested in like near black presentation, accurate/natural colours and brightness detail/dynamic range are simply not showing in a bright store, you have to watch them in a dark room to judge that.

Amazing and thorough comparison as always! I've read comments about the S90C having sub-par motion processing compared to Sony and even LG, as well as you mentioning the same briefly. Is this particularly for 24fps content, or is it just overall? I tend to run my displays with all motion processing off; so wondering if all 3 manufacturer would be on about the same level regarding native OLED motion performance. Also, even with all motion processing turned off, is there some proprietary base motion processing going on which differentiate them at the most basic level? Like watching a rock-solid 60fps broadcast..shouldn't they look about the same with absolutely no motion processing on?

I'd say get the S90C - it's the best value TV on the market right now. You might have to deal with some software quirks here and there - the C3 would give you a more polished software experience and probably more accurate colours OOTB but you have a risk of getting a panel with some uniformity issues like banding or pink tint - that's the reason I would go with QD-Oled but if you only watch with ambient light present, it's probably not gonna be noticeable.

This comparison comes pretty well on time now that we are almost in the 8th month of the year. Manufactures had all the time to correct little software and firmware issues that degraded performance of quality. Finally we see OLEDs with proper EOTF tracking and a lot less black detail crushing, it is like they left the child shoe and are wearing almost adult shoes on the OLEDs side of things.

I bought a Sony A80CJ and S95B last year and compared them side by side. People kept saying that Dolby Vision wasn't a big deal. I tried it out on shows that supported it, like LOTR and Obi-Wan. It does make a noticeable difference. I actually kept the Sony over the Samsung and that was a big factor. The S95B had some really vibrant color and such, but in the dark scenes with lightsabers in Obi-Wan, it was clearly a noticeably worse image overall with a lot of detail lost in the dark and some wacky things going on. Maybe if you compare TV's with just blu-ray and consoles that might be one thing, but with streaming TV the Dolby Vision definitely makes a difference in shows and movies.

There’s nothing wrong with being the second best tvs in the lineup. The C series and A80 series are among the most refined premium TVs out there at those price points. If we were comparing tvs to cars I like to say they’re the Porsche 911 and the QD and MLA a Ferrari or Lamborghini. As someone who sells tvs and is the Sony advisor at my local Best Buy. I’d say the mid range for tvs is probably Full Array LED models. And as someone who has an X90J and an A80K. A Full Array LED is still gonna give you a 120HZ Panel, Same processor in the top TV models, Really good picture,etc. For folks that have a bright space and aren’t total enthusiasts a Full Array will still give a pretty premium experience. If I’m being honest for the sort of home theater experience without totally breaking the bank. If you want Size and Sound. An 85 inch Full Array like an X90L with a quality Sound Bar will cost the same as a 65 QD OLED like the 95L, 95C or the 65 G3 MLA. Just something to consider if you want or need size and sound while still having quality.

So many caveats with each TV. C3 loses lighting during game mode. C3 apparently has very noticeable color banding in game mode. C3 has worse color uniformity, but a polarized screen which looks black in all conditions. C3’s screen will look like a mirror in some conditions. S90C will have very obvious macro blocking and artifacts when streaming or using low bitrate content. S90C has the sluggish menu and apparently less color accuracy. S90C may have raised black levels in ambient lighting like a CRT. A80L has lower input lag and aggressive ABL. Do you get the S90C for the insane pop and wow factor when gaming? Or the C3 for a better overall picture when streaming and less frustrating software? It’s like Sophie’s Choice trying to pick a mid-range OLED for me.

It probably won’t be unfortunately. However, I haven’t noticed the screen dimming some people talk about on the C2. Granted I use SDR 95% of the time, so maybe that plays into this. Regardless, even compared to a “much brighter” samsung qled I had this tv is definitely not dim. In low light viewing it can even seem too bright at times. Only two complaints are that due to OLED panel refresh rates in general, when streaming 24fps movies, there is minimal stutter in panning shots unless I turn up the motion settings to where soap opera effect happens. And 2nd…that the screen doesn’t handle reflections all that well, but that’s due to it being glossy which is better for PQ. Sort of a trade off and I’d rather it be this way anyhow.

Is there any chance to get a comparison of S90C HDR vs LG C3 / Sony A80L with Dolby Vision?
