Great content, I would only add that you might as well replace the motor shaft seal while you’re there. It’s the black seal on the inside of the dishwasher where this part exists into the dishwasher. My seal failed a month after I replaced this part. I found water on the floor and my dishwasher kept tripping the breaker. Had to repeat steps one through…🎉

What lubricant would you use on the seal when installing the circulating pump motor shaft into the seal. The seal from the factory in the sump has a white luricant on it. Is there a video to replace the motor shaft seal?

Hi. Cud use your help on troubleshooting my LG unit - LD2131SH. Have an error code E1 coming in about 3 minutes into the cycle. Also noticed a bit of water leakage at the rear of the unit on the floor. Had the same error on the unit some time back which was rectified by a technician who externally freed the motor which seemed to have been jammed. He suggested replacing the motor but the cost was prohibitive. Post that the unit worked albeit with a bit of noise during the wash runs. Wanted to open up the unit but noticed that the machine cannot be opened from the bottom as demonstrated by you. Any suggestions or a video on a similiar problem unit?!?pls advise. Thanks mate.

Ethan Bennett E1 is a leak error for LG units which explains why you found water. The wash motor does have a seal in the pump so you would have to disassemble the unit to see what is going on. That model LD2131SH is not in our database so we don't have any information on how it comes apart.

Why don't I see the motor seal for this motor listed on the exploded LG parts list?

I think it is because LG wants you to buy a new sump that includes the seal.

The seal number for LG LDS5040ST is, "New OEM Produced 4036DD4002A for LG Dishwasher Oil Seal by OEM Mania Replacement Part" on Amazon. $11.99
