Does it work on an electric dryer as well? LG model DLEY1201V
@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel16 күн бұрын
Sorry, just for gas dryers. You can replace the hi-limit on the electric dryer instead and that should fix it.
@LawrencePowell-w9p16 күн бұрын
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I am not sure that is the problem as the dryer turns on but when I try to run it, it just does 3 little clicks and does not start. But if left on it will count down like it is running except faster and rings like it is done.

I can’t wait to get home and try this. I just know it will work. We already had the new dryer picked out and nearly purchased. I also REALLY appreciated the 2 hand option tip; you were the only one to mention that. Great vid....... I’ll be back.... though I hope I have no more need of appliance repair Thank you !!!!

DUDE!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! My dryer was not heating up. After all trouble shooting it was giving me a "flow sense" error. I took the front off, cleaned all of the duct work and dust off of the ignitor and pilot light. Still not working. LG customer service was going to schedule a repair person to come out. ($99 service call, just to start). Came across this video and BOOM....FIXED!! I would have lost my cool if I got charged 100 bucks for a guy to push a button! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

This video is a great help and solved the problem with my dryer. I have a service contract through Home Depot. The technician from the repair company came and said the dryer needed a new main circuit board. I was suspicious immediately. I saw this video and gave it a try and sure enough this was the problem. The dryer just needed all the lint cleaned up and the reset button pushed. And my wife is thrilled to have her dryer back in service and not having to wait for un-needed parts and another appointment with the repair tech. Thanks again to Scottthefixitguy.

You rock! You should leave a Venmo link so people can actually throw you a few bucks for saving them hundreds if not thousands. I called LG and they went through the diagnostic and didn’t even do the smart diagnostic and said I needed a new igniter. I called my local appliance parts store and they said that it’s probably not the igniter but one of the fuses/thermostats blew so to take the dryer apart bring down the two or three thermostats and they would test it and find out which one’s bad. I did what they said but they closed for the evening by the time I got everything apart so I started watching a few videos and stumbled upon yours. I realized one of the thermostats that I took out had a reset button so I thought I’d give it a try, reset the switch, put everything back together… And voilà! It worked like a charm! Thank you thank you so much!

Thanks for the video. I did know there was a button down there but I couldn't remember where it was since its been so long. but with your help it refreshed my memory. I took off the whole front panel which took longer but since i took it off I took advantage to clean up all of the lint with a shop vacuum and a crevice tool to help prevent a fire that can happen when you have to much lint buildup which actually has already happened to me. So even though with your technique is faster and you could also get some lint through the back it's always a good idea to clean out the front as well. Thanks again!!

With good people like Scott who take the time to lend a helping hand to all of us out here who are willing to give it a go thanks sooooo much! It was a piece of cake and took about 20minutes to do it. One thing you can do is when your putting the tube back in shine a flashlight inside and then you can see your connection point, then you don't have to open the other hole. As for all appliances, do make sure you pull the plug from the wall before you touch anything inside. Can't thank you enough Scott!!!!

I been in da repairs for 30+yr and not been happy about all the solid state boards they introduce, design changes, etc., pretty much retired now..like the old Maytags and WP's, much saner. Came up against this beauty (somebody kept my ph.#!) and went thru the usual list of suspects (2 hours worth, taking them apart is a lot of newly invented frustrations) and discovered no igniter glow, called it a day, politely excusing myself to go home and sneak around y-tube some more. Going by the Kenmore Model # got me no place fast, so just started looking at the pictures and figured out it's the same set-up with your LG, here. Never saw the like of that limit-sw. reset button. I'm going there next! Hope it's the same with my people's dryer, oh well, I learned some new cat to skin now. Thank you so much.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Yeah, so here's the ending..I went back for the third pass, day 3, and found that button. It didn't feel tripped, so I went back and pushed pause/start to test it with top and front off. Never had seen the igniter coil come on. I ohm'd the coils and got OPEN. I pulled all the lint and ohm'd the limit-switches, tried ON with my invoice-book (that I never write in) covering the blower front hole. No igniter, tried sticking my meter-probes in the harness connectors to look for 120v when the igniter senser clicks off, didn't see anything. I was about to aks them if they had a spare bed for me. I put everything back together and satrted it..and saw the flame! I was so happy. Grab some money and split! I know my way around that machine now at least, whew! I appreciate your video Scott. I was able to show my brother what the safety switch was that I was trying to point out to him and you showed him how to get to it or what to look for. Thank you! All gas appliances have a limit switch dryers, furnace, boilers etc and some are re-settable. I looked back in the reviews and didn't see much of a mention of the reason why this could happen and to check certain things before resetting the switch? In regard to safety these switches are used to stop the flow of heat due to an overheat problem such as lint in the vent, rat, squirrel or maybe a damper that's stuck closed by a wasps nest or lint blockage? Yeah typically those trip as a result of the dryer air vent to being partially blocked or a very dirty lint filter.

Thanks to you video I was able to reset the dryer and it started working but then it shut off again. Am I going to have to replace a part. Did that three times. If have to replace it what is it called? Thanks much. Grateful for your video.

You’re doing Great Elaine, just need to thoroughly clean out the dryer vent tube behind the dryer. When it gets clogged it will blow that fuse.
@ElaineMcFadden Жыл бұрын
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel yes cleaned everything including removing tube. Rats crawled through tube and made a nest in my dryer! What a clean up. Know where kill switch is so can reach through side hole and press it to reset. Works for a little while then shuts off even though all cleaned up. So fuse is probably blown? So have to replace that part to fix it? Now know to block vent hole to outside. So dumb to not think of that.

I was so relieved when this great quick fix got my dryer heating again. But unfortunately, something keeps tripping that reset switch and it only works for a while before it needs to be reset again. Scott, do you have any insight on what may be causing this?

Thank you so much! I took the whole dryer and replaced the thermal fuse for nothing! All it was a reset! Do you know what causes the fuse to flip?

Hey Scott I did what you suggested but the button had not tripped so I couldn't press it in. Any other suggestions for how to fix my dryer that's not heating?

Hi Tommy, most likely it’s time for a new igniter.

Thanks for the video, Scott. My DLGX8001W LG Gas Dryer spins, but no heat. I checked the high-limit button, but it is good. The odd thing is that I am getting the Flowsense 4-bars during the test and my dryer lint trap and tube are clean -- still get the flowsense warning with no ducting attached, I went ahead and vacuumed just to make sure. Could an igniter issue manifest itself this way or do you have another suggestion on what I could check or reset?

Can you super clean the lint filter with soap and hot water and an old toothbrush?
@wongfu822 жыл бұрын
This might be in the comments somewhere. What if you reset the high limit, get like 4 or 5 good heating dryer loads and then have to press the reset button again to get 4/5 loads, etc. What likely needs to be replaced? Kind of a hassle having to reset the high limit all the time. Thx.
