It is extremely upsetting and frustrating when you struggle to come up with the cost of a brand new refrigerator freezer, as the cost these days is way over $1,000, and up to about $5,000....average around $2,000 or so, and the thing isn’t even working correctly! I can understand his anger. I just bought mine, and had to put it on a payment plan....even then, I have to struggle to make the monthly payments, and I will be paying on it for a while, and to have it not even working that well, or out and out broken, is extremely upsetting.

Hi John, loved the video and it was a lot of fun. We have the same fridge, and it has been fine for 1.5 to 2 years now and loved the ice maker--until the last week. Now we're having the same problem. You've been remarkably patient to deal with it as long as you have! Lately the ice has stopped coming out after a chunk or two, even though the ice hopper is full. The problem is that the ice is either all frozen together in one big mass, or the full load of ice in the maker comes out in one solid block with all ten or so cubes extra thick and frozen together, forming a large, thick slab. Water is also leaking out, freezing on the seal as well as dripping onto the floor and other internal ledges. After spending half a day farting around, I think we have fixed the problem and I wanted to share the solution with you in case you're interested. The problem stems from this little transparent plastic bin. It's hard to see in situ but it's along the back wall on the extreme upper right. Below is a link, in which you can see it sticking out on the upper right, behind some white plastic parts. That transparent plastic box funnels the water in from the inlet hose and distributes it into the ice cube tray for it to freeze. The bin is screwed into the back plate by one screw, which appears too big for the hole molded into it and cracked it, probably during assembly. In any event, the whole thing was loose and not doing its job. There was also another small tab that was broken off and a small crack in the front, too (these, I assume, happened later as the part got jammed when the ice tray rotates to dump ice). We fixed it by 1. removing the hopper, removing the three white screws holding the entire ice maker in, and then taking this upper assembly off, 2. retrieving the transparent plastic tank and the tab screwed into the back wall of the ice maker and reaming out the hole so that it's large enough for the screw, 3. using adhesive (E6000 but anything you like will probably work) to glue the tab back onto the transparent plastic box and letting it cure, 4. screwing it back onto the rear wall (but not too tightly! it doesn't seem like it needs to be screwed down tightly, just closed enough so there's no gap or slop), and 5. reassembling everything back together again. I couldn't find a way to buy just that transparent plastic tank. We didn't buy the extended warrantee and the whole replacement part appeared to be $120 up to $350, so we decided to use the 'duct tape' approach and fix it ourselves. Hope it helps you out and you avoid further frustration! Here's a link to the assembly I'm talking about--it may not be the exact, correct part, but it's close enough for illustration purposes: www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-AEQ73110205-Refrigerator-Assembly/dp/B00AH5ZOI6/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=lg+ice+maker+600A&qid=1631915887&s=hi&sr=1-4

I had the same problem. Solved it by turning off ice maker and removing all the ice, then I reduced the flow of water to the ice maker by partially closing the water faucet in the wall behind the refrigerator. So far after two days, it is still working correctly. It was important on mine to make sure no ice was in either the ice tray or in the discharge chute. Good luck, I hope this helps you too!

Thanks John. I appreciate the candor. Quiet time for the door after an ice dump will now be SOP in my home. I've got LG model LMXS 27626 & haven't had the frequent & severe problems you have, but the ice maker does occasionally stop working--like today--and I have to figure out how to fix it all over again. I'll break down and read the directions on the door panel. In the meantime, I sure wish you would make a video about printers. They're my pet peeve. My guess is that the chip in the ink cartridge signals the computer on date of installation, and then a year later the computer demands you replace the cartridge regardless of whether or not it has ink. So there's no refilling that cartridge with that chip. The ink cartridge is where they make their money. Overall trend is that these guys make things like ice makers, printers, dehumidifiers, etc and then walk away with little or no accountability, and no incentive to improve their product. However they do do a good job with their ads...
@CooterMr2 жыл бұрын
Good ads, 😃. Bought our last printer and my wife smiles every time when I purchase several bw/color cartridges at a time since they continuously run out. Wife work gov't job and she told me about their printer cartridges. On side of box was printed expiration date. Most people would not read that message and sometimes cartridge only last 2 weeks. Good luck with your refrigerator. Stay safe.
@groussac2 жыл бұрын
@@CooterMr Thanks John. People complain abt gov micromanagement (I'm one of them), but what other option is there? A printer cartridge that's set to expire??? If market forces don't intervene (i.e., a company fields a bare bones printer that prints & lets you refill the ink), the only remaining option is government telling companies how to make printers. As for the refrigerator, maybe my imagination, but I remember them lasting forever. Yeah, you'd have to defrost them every now and then, but not every time you go to make ice. And oh, by the way, buy a new appliance today and they immediately try to sell you a warranty on fixing something that shouldn't have to be fixed if 1) it was designed right or if 2) the company backed up their product. Progress... Be safe, my friend.

Hi, John: Just wanted to let you know, as I think I mentioned to you already, I did lower the temp of the freezer to -4 degrees F, and I lowered the refrigerator temp to 34 degrees F. I lowered the fridge because I had read somewhere that the temp difference between the freezer and refrigerator should not be more than about 7 degrees. I didn’t want the fridge to start freezing things, so 34 was the lowest I wanted to go. So far, the refrig is not freezing things, and the ice maker is working better. I agree with many of you; LG ice makers do not make as much ice over a 24 hr period as I think they should, but that’s a whole other problem, unless they feel that making more ice than their supposed 120 or so cubes a day would put too much strain on the ice maker/condenser, and it would have a higher chance of burning out from overworking itself. Still, I have a friend who has an older fridge (a fridgedaire, I think) that does not have an in door ice maker, but instead has an ice maker which is internal and dumps ice into its own drawer....that fridge makes bucketloads of ice each day....so much that they cannot possibly use it all, so I think the in door makers (of most all brands) seem to be lacking. I guess LG and others think people don’t use that much ice, but they couldn’t be more wrong. I know we do, and many other people are online complaining about the minimal amounts of ice, or worse, the inferior and troublesome construction of many of these ice makers, across the board. Refrigerator Freezers are so very expensive these days, so I don’t think having an ice maker that works, and produces a decent amount of ice, is too much to ask from a consumer.....they obviously do not care what their customers think, or really read about their customer’s complaints/issues with their product. If they did, they would be making improvements in the ice makers, at the very least, annually. I haven’t seen any change in the In door ice makers for many many years. Also, before I bought this LG, I look at many other brands. All of the ones that had in door ice makers had, essentially, the same one, which leaves much to be desired. It’s no wonder LG is in the middle of a class action lawsuit right now regarding their compressors burning up....Much of these types of lawsuits could have been avoided by better customer service and reading and actually caring about, looking into, and making necessary improvements in their products. So for now, although I’m not getting that much ice per day and we have to ‘ration’ what we use, we DO, at least, for now, have a working ice maker! Hopefully, that will continue to be the case, as I cannot do without ice. I will keep you posted, if something changes. I don’t recall if you mentioned, but did LG techs EVER come out to inspect your ice machine unit? Did you ever get anyone to replace the entire unit, to see if a new unit would help/solve your issues with this one? I wish you the very best of luck with your ice situation. These refrigerators are a HUGE expense for most people; the least they can do is make sure you get a fully working product!
@CooterMr3 жыл бұрын
First, thank you for your comment. Agree 100% what you said. After purchasing our LG refrigerator, 11 months later it started to leak water over the side of the ice tray. Since we had a 1year warranty we called them. They replaced the entire unit. 2 months later we started to have our ice problem. Cracked the bottom middle of the ice bin cause of the continuous routine of pulling it out and resetting the ice maker. Ordered a new ice bin through Amazon. I'm am seriously thinking of buying some plastic ice trays. Not the old fashion metal ones. :) jk Good luck and stay safe.

@@CooterMr I feel your pain, my LG (low grade) does exactly what you described. I use four plastic ice trays in the freezer then dump at least three in the ice bin everyday. It’s nonsense. This cheap Chinese crap we brake our banks for paying these outrageous prices and the stuff doesn’t even work and when it does it works poorly. I swore to myself 15 years ago Id never buy another LG product after I purchased one of their phones, well I went all in and dropped 2.5k on their “LowGrade” fridge. These companies should fix their products or be shut down. Oh, I’ve been having this problem since 2018. John, I know its been 3 years and you have probably replace that fridge. I had a Samsung that did the exact same thing. I had huge ice glaciers that I had to melt if I even turned the ice maker on. The fridge was level, but I tipped it just a fraction toward the front, cuz mine was building glaciers at the back and solved the majority of the problem, needed tipping a little more but no one would help me do it again. So after buying ice for 2 years, I finall broke down and bought this LG that you have, no problems yet fingers crossed

Someone wrote to me and said a guy from LG told him to put his freezer at -6. We did and it froze the flooded ice tray like a block of cement. It took me 4 resets and a lot of pounding to get all the ice cubes and chips out. Believe it or not, 2 days ago we received a class action suit paper work for the cooling system in LG refrigerators. With so many hits on my LG review I was scared to open the envelope up. Guess with covid and all I was a little paranoid. :) Good Luck with yours.

Yes. I was fiddling with my ice maker all morning. Notice water dripping from the outside corner of my fridge... like the stainless steel finish corner. I replaced the water filter, took off all the paneling around there, it was bone dry. Finally moved up to the ice maker and noticed a cube was wedged in a funny position. I have to believe this caused the water that fills the tray to spray all over and thus leak on the exterior side of the door... and knowing where this little button (after spending an hour+) helped to rotate the tray and spill water that developed from the ole hair dryer trick. Immediately after, the tray came to rest and the water began to refill - and it did it very cleanly. Hoping everything's solved!

You should try to level your refrigerator or if it is level did you had to remove the door to get it in your house maybe the adjustment of the image is not set right and it’s leaning forward so the water from your icemaker is going completely forward

We have LG LRMDC2306S. During first month we’ve had 4 service visits for craft ice maker not working. Each service call reveals the water feed line to the ice maker is frozen solid although the freezer temp is set at +4F. We added two thermometers into the freezer that log temp and they both show 4F so temp sensor is good. Does the craft ice maker line have a heater/defrost? Latest tech wants to switch out water feed line but by this point we have zero confidence LG know how to build a fridge.

Hi John, I hope you are doing well. I have a question, how does the water get to the icemaker? I bought it recently and I have no idea if the water is added manually or if it comes from an external pipe to the icemaker? Waiting for your answer, thank you very much
@CooterMr2 жыл бұрын
Hi, it has a small pipe in back of frig connected to the small connection already coming out the floor. The small pipe coils around in the frig some how to feed the ice maker and to dispense cold water. Hope this helps. Take care.

We had ours only six months when it no longer made ice or chilled the freezer. 40 days of calling LG customer service and getting a new person each time because they telework and don’t follow up. Their lack of care about customers is unsatisfactory. Don’t buy an LG. This unit apparently has a known compressor problem and has had for several years. However, LG apparently doesn’t have either the parts or the trained mechanics to fix it.

Where is this ‘release’ button, and what does it do? I just got my lg fridge two days ago, and although it is making ice, there is hardly any ice made, even after hours and hours of ice maker being on! I don’t know what to do, as I see no ‘reset’ button, and the arm in the back of ice holder only moves about a half inch if I turn the switch on the ice maker off and then back on; otherwise, the arm will not move at all, so I have no idea whether this is normal or not. On my older lg, the arm moved freely up and down, a distance of about 45 degrees or about 4 to 5 inches of play.
@CooterMr3 жыл бұрын
Reset Button: Remove the ice bin first. Lift up and out and pull ice bin out carefully. It will split at bottom if pulled too hard. Facing the ice tray and make sure hard ice is made. Look underneath the left side of the unit. Press and hold the button until ice tray starts moving and replace the ice bin.

Been there, done that. Bought 4 ice trays, fill them 1/2 way to 3/4 and place them in my large ice bin until I run low on ice. When low, dump the 1/2, 3/4 filled trays in my dispenser bin. Quite satisfying to always have ice now. Using large ice cubes will clog my ice dispenser. LG is a terrible product. Good luck and stay healthy.

I agree an ice maker located within the door should be splash proof, but I would suggest getting out of the habit of slamming things. Everything you own will last a lot longer. I suspect if you close the door with a little more grace, instead of flinging it shut as you walk away, this problem would not be occurring for you. Sorry, but people slamming doors is a pet peeve of mine. It drives me crazy.

After many efforts of trying to make ice cubes I resorted back in my childhood days. Bought some plastic not metal ones with a handle to freeze 4 ice cubes trays and place the frozen ice cubes in my LG refrigerator ice dispenser. It has been so routine and a long time doing this insane act my frustration with this LG refrigerator has disappeared. But, I will never buy a LG product again.

Hello. Is it too late to join the club? 😂 We just got a brand new LG lrmvs3006s. And it has been 3 days and we have only gotten about 5 ice cubes. And 3 of the craft ones. the ice dispenser ones won't come out. I guess I will need to defrost it. Oh, boi... Had I known it was going to be like this, I would have kept the old fridge (a frigidaire gallery that sometimes made soo much ice that we had to throw some into the sink lol).

Feeling the same right now I just had a technician LOL come over and replace my icemaker it’s kind of flimsy I think because every time I try to close the door it’s still on and off switch and it flips it off omg Then I realized when you dump the tray full of ice it don’t dispense enough water so therefore I never get a full tray of ice Then when that happens it doesn’t dump it the engineers who came up with this at LG Ain’t that smart

Probably not the answer, but have you leveled the refrigerator? You mentioned one side of the ice tray filling up higher than the others causing a jam and flooding on the next fill up. Out of level sounds like a possible cause of uneven filling.
@CooterMr4 жыл бұрын
Immediately after reading your comment I ran to the garage and got a level. At the top of the frig, from right to left it was perfectly leveled. From front to back it was, I call it a John level. The bubble was inside the lines but touching one of the lines. Lifted the level to about 1/8 of an inch to place the bubble exactly in the middle. Also squeezed my camera above the cubes, turned it on, lens extended, then took a pic. Showed all cubes individually separated. Thank you for your comment.
@Kevin-ib4gv4 жыл бұрын
@@CooterMr Hi John. Was leveling the problem? Also I assume when you took the ice tray pic the door was open. You would really need the door to be closed to see if the water was level or not. Door closed would be the position when making ice cubes.

I can't or we stopped using the ice maker. Bought 4 ice trays and 1/2 or 3/4 fill them cause if you fill the compartments to the top the despener will jam. Pain emptying the trays the old fashion way but no frustration anymore and having ice every day is nice.

WOW, just had this happen and I bought this same unit back in February of this year, no wonder Home Depot had it this slashed for $1500 off ...went away on vacation for a week and came back with the same issue. Had a GE before this and got rid of it because the water line kept freezing and had to thaw it out with a hair dryer, like I have time to do that every week...can someone name a brand that doesn't have a water line issue? Samsung, Whirlpool, Kenmore, Frigidaire...Tired of spending $$$ on a decent fridge with faulty ice making...oh, and kick that Engineers ass John, he deserves a lot more than an ass whooping if you ask me

My ice maker is not dumping the ice. It doesn't re-fill and get blocked with ice, it just isn't dropping it. I hit the reset, it dumps it then re-fills and then several hours later it hasn't dumped. Any idea why this could be? Thanks and the engineers suck!
@CooterMr3 жыл бұрын
I wish I could help. Only time my ice does not dump is when one or two cubes don't drop and then the water fills the ice tray over the ridges. It feels like the ice tray is full with smooth frozen ice and then it will never dump ice until I go through my routine.

Try removing the ice bin. Get a large bowl. Find the little switch below ice tray and to the left. My video will show you were it's at. Press and hold the switch. The ice tray should slowly start turning. Place large bowl under the rotating ice tray to catch the ice. If the ice tray doesn't turn then I don't know.

GGun: what solution above? I don’t see anything with your name on it. Thanks. My problem (my fridge unit is brand new) is the ice maker makes ice very very slowly....the mechanism seems to be working and I changed it to Accela ice and lowered the freezer temp from 0 to -4 F. Now I wait. I could sit down and cry because I just replaced our last LG, which was only 3 years old, because the condenser/compressor went out....on our old one, we had the same prob with the ice maker hardly making any ice, but the store (Home Depot) said LG had way less problems than the other brands, and was a better fridge, so I went with another LG, hoping mine was just a bum one, but now this new one is doing the same thing! This fridge was over $2,000 and the store will not take it back; you have to deal with LG. I did get a 5 year extended warranty, but I spent a lot of money (esp for me) on this refrig and expected it would work, including the ice machine, yet here it is, having the same issue as our last one, where the ice maker is concerned. I have a med condition where I must have ice, so that’s why I purchased a fridge WITH an ice maker, instead of without one. I am so upset about this, and can not afford to buy another fridge....as it is, I will be paying on this one for a year or more.
