LG Front Load Washing Machine Leak Resolved Fix | WM3170CW

I tried everything suggested by LG to fix my WM3170CW washing machine with no luck. I took off the top and found that it would be a simple fix due to excessive wear on an internal water supply bellows. This fix should apply to most LG front load machines.
I am not a professional washing machine repair technician, so only use this video for reference info. There are many other videos that show how to remove the top. If you are not comfortable with anything shown, please contact LG directly for a service call. As always, ensure that electrical and water supply is disconnected prior to attempting any disassembly.
The repair component for the WM3170CW model is part# 4738ER1004B. You should consult your user manual to determine the correct replacement part# for your machine. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Yes Thanks! I have the same model washer and the same problem. Various places said leaking most likely was from the boot at the bottom. I took the back off before buying the part. The bottom boot was dry. Turned the machine on and the water was pouring down from the upper part of machine. Took the washer top off and that same boot that you show was leaking - same thing the line was rubbing on the boot. Causing the leak. Bad design. They put some sort of pad around the line and it actually made it worse acting like sand paper on the boot.

Thank you. I already tried replacing the bottom bellows hose. Several other videos suggested the intake valves. But I watched your video and took out the hose and that was the culprit. Nice hole worn into it. Thanks a lot. 👍

I noticed you have the DRIP leak down the front like we do too. It is caused by hair and junk getting in the front seal. We just put a candy lid under the front middle of the washer. It is annoying more than anything.

I have a leak with the same model and have found a leak in the same spot. A hole was rubbed into the slinky part of the intake.

I have the exact same model and I see water below the washer after the wash cycle. I think it could probably be the same issue that you showed. I will check later today and post. Do we need any special tools to open the top?

There should not be any special tools necessary.

@@jeffr265 I could successfully open the top with Philips Screwdriver. The hose you showed in your video is not damaged and I don't see any leak. So, most probably the leak is below where I may need to replace the Washer Tub-To-Pump Hose With Bellows

I'm thinking this has gotta be my problem. The water leaks out of the bottom from the left-hand side, too; exactly where this boot is located. Ridiculous design-flaw from LG.

I hope it is your problem. It really is a simple and cheap fix but understandably annoying. The wire that I showed in the video is still holding the bellows up nicely and there have been no issues since it was fixed. I really hope that LG fixed this issue on subsequent models.
