LG G6 Review: After 2 Weeks (will update)

I have had the LG G6 since Barcelona and here are my thoughts so far! When retail models are available I will fill in some of the gaps with an update review. The G6 is definitely the cleanest device that LG has made so far and I really like it! I think they will give Samsung a run for their money.

why do ppl keep complaining about only 32GB? this isnt apple and there is a sd card slot 😒. and snapdragon 821 vs 835 you wouldnt even notice the difference when using the phone

Reeny even a couple of years ago, 32GB phones were. the best thingd and all that you need. until the 64 and everyone thinks you need the higher gb

Reeny - There are many Android apps that don't make use of external SD card (storage) to save data. I download a lot of Podcasts and all my Google music, plus some offline maps and Audible audiobooks, in addition to the apps to my phone. 64GB is enough to hold it all, 32GB is not.

Couldn't you just manually move the downloads after downloading them? I'm with Reeny, when you can get micro sd cards that go up to 128gigs, the loss of 32gigs isn't a big deal especially at the price point of the 64gig version. For me if that was the case, i would just move all of the apps and files that COULD utilize the SD card to the SD card, and keep any that can't on internal storage.

Reeny You do have a point with the processor. With all the fuckin bloatware and clunky TouchWiz, it should equalize the speeds and it actually does. That's sad really.

Reeny on the processor, I totally agree. But for a flagship power user phone like this 32 gigs, while perfectly usable, can easily be used. You have to change your usage habits though, like you might have to move some apps to MicroSD (then do it again when updating them). 64 gigabytes currently is the sweet spot for a "use my MicroSD card for songs and videos and pictures and nothing else" experience, which is the way it should be in my opinion. With 32 gigs, download a few classic console ports and you'll be well on your way to filling it up.

Who remembers the lg g2 ? that phone was my favorite lg phone ever here's the resons. I loved the design with thin bezels. great battery life for me , software wasn't the greatest but I had a rom on it most of the time to stay with the latest features and speeds.

HFYYN oops. Just read over my comment. The v10 and v20 I actually liked but was too big for me as I have quite small hands. The g4 wasn't very good up to its competitors and the g5 while having an interesting design, the build quality wasn't there. The g6 is a flagship price competing against the Samsung and Apple etc but had last years processor (still good but shouldn't be that expensive).

It sounds like LG did a good job with this one, with some weird choices. I understand why they couldn't get the Snapdragon 835 (although I think they should have delayed it until they could get it), but why did they mix the different glasses? Why are the colors region specific? Why is wireless charging/hi-fi DAC region specific? Just seems like some baffling choices.

the 835 wasn't ready yet when they made this device, and there was rumors going around Samsung has dibs on the 835 for the S8 leaving nothing for LG.

The different kinds of glasses are for different levels of scratch and shatter resistance. IIRC, newer Gorilla Glass is more shatter-proof but less scratch resistant.

Really annoying that UK and Europe get neither wireless charging nor that DAC. And only the 32gb version. I'll pass because of this. I don't know how they checked this. everyone I know would love those features. Big missed chance for LG.

ProjectElara same here... Getting sick of LG neglecting the UK market. We never got the V20 either which would have been a nice alternative for those who were wanting the note 7. Looks like I'll be going for the Huawei p10+ or might try oneplus 3t... Got a long wait for the note 8 which will be the eventual replacement to the note 4 I'm using now

Skinomi techskin are transparent skins. You'll avoid the smudges but still keep the original look.

Loved it. Really like how you shoot your videos. Nice bright lighting, creamy close ups that show fine details about the phone other reviewers don't care to show coz they focus too much on angles and making light bounce off the phone etc. I feel they are doing a marketing job for the phone and not reviews. Cinematic reviews are quite the fad and a video otherwise is not considered "quality". Your point of view, while not unique, is refreshing and closer to how people would use phones in daily life and shows how beautiful the phone can look. Thanks.

Had the Samsung S8plus. Sent it back for the LGG6 and I am not sorry I did. LGG6 is a much better phone. The call sound and speaker sound is sooooo much louder and cleaner. It also runs surprisingly smoother with absolutely no lag at all. Even a sturdier phone. Not afraid to handle it like it's a delicate flower like the s8 or s8 plus. LGG6 is like the Tom Hardy of phones.

Nice review. What did you think of the use of Gorilla glass 3, 4, and 5? Any concerns of scratching or experience any scratches on the front or back? Also... which color would you prefer personally... Silver or Black? I'm thinking silver if I went G6 but that black does look nice and reminds me of my G2.

That was great that you mention the color accuracy of the screen and the black model needs to be cleaned often to get rid of oily fingerprints on the back. You're one of the least reviewers mentioning these little important details. A really honest and detailed review as always.

Got my LG G6 on Friday, already had my case, and with the LG mobile really help transfer everything from my V20 to the G6. I am really happy with it, no problems, no issues, just use it like my other phone, fast and snappy, smooth, this is a winner, and soon will be getting popular, but stays in line with the others as a flagship, give a shot out to LG, they really went all out on this one, playing around with it and using it, oh yeah, this is a keeper.

excellent review. lg has some serious promos for preorders and a great price of $650-720, this will do great for them even without oled or the 835. wish it had the quad dac though, so i will probably wait to see how the v30 looks. the quad dac was not available on the g5 either in the usa, i think lg wants to keep that a v10-20-30- exclusive here and selling point, or they are just cost cutting at our expense the uk is being treated badly, lg basically is saying their research says the uk does not want any special features, and i do not believe that, all markets want and should have all 3 top features. wireless charging, quad dac, and 64gb. keep up the good work Erica:)

I used to own a G5 and loved it because of the wide angle camera but the rest of the phone was mehh.. Now it seems that they have improved both cameras and fixed everything that was wrong with the G5, this phone looks hot, I like that you said that this has been LG's most polished phone. How is the display quality? The only thing holding me back is the LCD screen, I prefer amulet displays. I'm debating between this phone or the Oneplus 3. I have an S7 and I'm not getting another Samsung phone, it lags and over time it gets even slower. Samsung is great in the beginning but after a few updates, i feel that the phones get slower. I've had Samsung for years now and they always end up lagging, so I want to switch to another company. I'm assuming the oneplus 3 and the lg g6 may age better with a smoother experience.

Again another very promising good looking LG phone. It almost has the same appeal as the LG G4 when it first came out which forced a lot of people to buy and then the BOOTLOOP phenomenon occurred which is the main reason why people are so afraid these days to buy a LG phone. I wish Ms. Erica that u would mention this somewhere in your video so that before releasing the production models, LG would give a second look and assure people so that we could buy this beautiful device fearlessly. Last time very few, in fact no well-known reviewers like yours give head to our requests when this bootloop phenomenon started. I wish this time u people could give a little bit more emphasis on it. As someone who got the g5 and has been very disappointed with certain aspects of it (it freezes on videos now and I get screen burn. SCREEN BURN?! In 2017!?) but is in the UK, would you recommend this? Or is there something similar that would be a better option (as LG apparently hates us over here :P)

I would love it if LG valued eu/UK customers a bit more (wireless charging/quad dac) . not getting s8 as my s7 is only one year old and battery life and performance has gotten very poor. Ps.
