The G5, which I own is a pretty solid device. Yes the module thing was a flop and yes the build quality is questionable, but overall it's a great phone. No lag even after a year, the removable battery is great for me, the IR blaster is something I use on a daily, and the camera takes excellent pics. The G6 is awfully appealing, though not enough to drop my G5 just yet.

Terrance Washington I don't think it's ugly either, but I could see how it might have been scrutinized over some build quality issues. Like the gap/line where the module meets the phone and some people complained about paint quality issues. I use a case so I'm not as bothered by those things.

I don't really monitor it all that closely to be honest, but overall I'd say it's not the best. Though, between quick charge 3.0 being amazingly​ fast and my extra LG battery/external charger it's never really an issue. The G6 looks awesome, but as of now having the ability to swap out batteries is more important to me than having water resistance.

Fahad Malik 3:30-4:15h on mine. That's the main disadvantage with G5 in my opinion. But you can swap the new one easily. Anyway it's a great phone

After losing my G5 to a drop in water, I upgraded to the G6. I love it! I'll miss the IR blaster, but I can't afford to lose a phone to 2 second exposure to water.

Infidel Gastro People who care buy a phone with an I.R. blaster. this helps sell LG flagship for some people. also, LG priducts are well made and dependable. my entire house is equipped with only LG appliances and. televisions. samsung is what my family uses. basically the same. This G6 will do great this year.

Why does everyone harp on about the modular thing. The G5 was a normal smartphone first and foremost with the ability for modules. You didn't have to use the modular part. It wasn't a modular device to which a phone was attached. It was a good phone. Good specs, good camera just like all phones last year.

SDav21 LG did a very poor job of marketing the G5. They made it seem like the phone was only good because of the mods and they forgot to market the other aspects of the phone. When I first saw the phone in the store I didn't even consider it because it looked so gimmicky. Here I am 2 years later with the G5 as my daily driver. I also owned a G6 and I didn't like it. It was a downgrade from the G5 in my opinion.

V20 was miles ahead of the G5 in sound. Both phones have fragile screens. Putting a G5 in a Life proof case protects it BUT kills the sound. Better life is HORRID on the G5. Regret to say it, the LGS have better features\more gizmos BUT are fragile and unreliable compared to say an S8. And it shows in sales. Seems like LG has been dropped by the major carriers with the exception of entry level freebies. S8 S9. S10, especially the Active Models rule.

Collin Calcote I've had all 3. In my opinion the G5 is the best of the 3. The G6 is actually a downgrade from the G4 in some ways. Just compare the speaker on the G4 with the speaker on the G6 and you'll see what I mean. The screen quality looks about equal on both. Of course the software is better on the G6, but the G5 is running basically the same software as the G6 right now. I can't think of a reason to get the G6 other than the fact that the size of the phone is perfect. It's one of the few phones that I've used that fit perfectly in my hand.

the user who has the LG g5 and look for a good camera a good stabilizer a good video recording and battery is not worth going to LG G6 because in that subject the 2 are very similar another thing is that you look for a larger screen a better design and water resistant if you are looking for that if it is worth it for everything else it is NOT worth going to lg g6

g6 uses smaller camera sensor than g5 (1/3" vs 1/2.6"), maybe that's why sometimes g5 could take better photos than g6. But for me both of them are good enough, since I am still satisfied with the photos taken on my g4

Ive had 2 LG G5's the first i had was amazing the best phone ive owned second is the worst phone ive ever owned. my mistake was buying it used. the gps drops constantly the battery drops about 20% from a single restart and if it bumps or drops it restarts. it also drops 4g a lot and the only fix is to restart it. its also moody about being charged it only charges off USb froma pc not a wall. I just bought a lg g6 off ebay a day or two ago its on its way here.

If you like having lots of problems buy lg, mine didn't work right after only a few weeks, terrible company, very poor quality and support, pure junk, all never buy anything from lg, be advised it's a nightmare dealing with lg, buy anything but lg products, now am stuck with a defective phone. Lg products are sub par at best.

Nice blanket statement there because you got one of the "few" bad units... Just get a diff one. The G5 is one of the best phones by far...even still today.
