LG OLED Firmware Update 4.70.76 Installed ☆ See NOTES for latest ☆ E7 C7 B7 2017 Model

Latest is 04.71.00, it's posted on the USA site and available for auto download. In this video I show the same process for 4.70.76 which starts after you install the USB drive as well a demo from the LG Dolby Access application after the update finishes. This update applies to the North American version as well as other regions except for EU which is at version 4.70.85 (Links Below). LG has given little info aside from "Fixed the issue of dropping to volume 0 due to a specific application operation", however if you are updating it makes sense to go with 4.70.76 over 4.70.70 as each update makes minor improvements. Shortly the OLED65C8 and OLED55E8 will be released and usually the updates stop and LG starts to work on the latest released TV as first priority.

The best update 4.70.70 fixed the majority of the Dolby Vision issues with clients like Apple TV 4K player where black bars were grey during some scenes that are in letterbox as an example. Other scenes would also suffer the same fate, this issue was fixed in the last release.
Make sure to check out the Dolby Access Application in the content store, search for it. I have heard that some Euro sets do not have access to this application, but you can download similar Dolby Vision demos from the following site 4kmedia.org/lg-dolby-vision-uh...

Hello, I have the LG OLED C7 with the SJ9 Atmos soundbar. What is my best way to watch Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos together? Both the soundbar and tv have direct ethernet connections at 400mps. Should I stream through netflix, hulu, amazing prime, vudu through the Web OS tv apps? Or should i stream those same services through Xbox One S or Apple Tv? Should i purchase a hard disc player like the oppo? I just want to maximize the Dolby Vision + Atmos experience and want to make sure I'm watching with the best setup and need guidance on what that would be for my C7 & SJ9 soundbar. Thanks

ATMOS can be tricky as some apps support it and or broadcast it and some do not. Netflix on WebOS does support Atmos but AppleTV currently does not support Atmos (Maybe in 11.3 iOS they will). Xbox One S supports Atmos but not Dolby Vision only HDR10. So the internal APPS might be the best bet right now if you want both best sound and best picture. The bandwidth for sound doesn't make any difference just for streaming 4K etc. The key is to make sure you plugged the Soundbar into the ARC input on the TV (HDMI 2). This will allow for Dolby Digital plus Atmos to pass down to the Soundbar. Even if you connect into HDMI port 1 with the XBOX one S it will pass down Atmos via ARC. Make sure to update to the latest firmware as there has been many fixes for sound since first release (many issues are lip-sync related). Hope that helps!

Hi, I thought I would mention, just in case other people are having WiFI issues after updating .76, turning on quick start seemed to resolve WIFI from dropping.

I think in .90 they actually improved WIFI reception and other things around WIFI. Change notes - 'WiFi_BT module recognized as fullspeed, LiveTV video interruption improvement (04.70.90)

Will this update work for the LGuh8500. Looking at the Korean site the TV looks very much like UH8500 there model is 55UJ7800

The numbers should match but the letters can be off. They list which works with the software set but not down the the US model numbers.

Yup, it was auto pushed for me to 04.71.0, no notes on it either since it was released on the USA site and it's not on the Korean which has a change log. No issues to report or a notable changes.

USB, if you ask for the latest download via the menu it defaults to what is being pushed which is super old at this point. I really don't know why LG doesn't push the latest update, lots of improvements since .30 or .36 (I forget which is the latest being pushed). Note that if you go update that some USB's the DTV doesn't like, so if you try one and it doesn't just try another one. LG is slow to push the update, you can wait as it will eventually be pushed but historically it takes a long time for them. I have no idea why, same story with pushing the software to the USA site. The big advantage of the last few updates have been around issues with Dolby Vision, Audio sync issues and a few other things. 4.70.36 should be available for push (auto downloading) or you have the option of downloading onto a USB and self installing as described in my step by step videos. This video just shows the update already in progress just as the USB is installed. The TV has lots of safeguards in place to really prevent the user from doing any type of damage from installing an update.

Is there anyway to downgrade? This update broke my SJ9 soundbar. I can no longer hear sound.

Prior to 2017 you were able to downgrade but no longer, however I would be surprised if LG broke their own soundbar with an update so make sure everything is still setup correctly. I am not saying it's not possible as anything is but one would think LG knows how to pass audio to their own soundbar even after a revision. It's possible that during the update even by software that something was turned off etc. Make sure sound mode, sound out and all settings are still correctly set, I have seen that something gets updated and defaults back. Just trying to give suggestions, post back what you find.

Tech Fan fixed it. I had to do a hard reset on my SJ9 SOUNDBAR by holding down the F or Function key, as my power button was not functional. I went down the line of holding each button for 20secs till I got to the F key, which rebooted the soundbar. From there on, I was able to turn off and on using remote, which wasn't working immediately after I updated the TV. Weird. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I had just updated my SJ9 software via Music Flow update today to latest version.

Search the content store for "Dolby Access" if it doesn't show up it's because it's not available in country. I am not sure why this is the case, I am guessing some licensing issues. However you can actually download many Dolby Vision demos onto USB from this site ** 4kmedia.org/lg-dolby-vision-uhd-4k-demo/ Also many other HDR demos are on that site for download, not just DV. Let me know if you actually find it in the LG content store. In the link above it was said by someone in Germany they couldn't find it and someone in the UK found it. Strange...

From a content prospective yes, but I am not sure the YT app supports HLG and DV from the video's they posted. I would have to try it, the nice part about the downloadable files are that they have everting embed along with DD Sound etc. So in short you can download all the media onto a USB and display direct VS having to fish around YT. I am not sure that the Dolby access app has additional content beyond or in addition to, lots of demo's floating out there, most are copied to death and posted everywhere. The key is to see it as it was first produced or intended to be watched (4K HDR DV) etc.
