@koitsu2013
@koitsu2013 2 ай бұрын
The drain hole has to be as low as possible on the unit. So the easiest way -- no joke -- to address this whole problem..... is to use taller casters on the AC. This gives people room to place a pan or water catch of some kind under the drain port. Instead, they use these incredibly short casters that don't provide enough clearance to fit a pan or water catch there. Alternately, and this would be much more expensive, they could add a small pump to the unit that could pump water in the internal reservoir up to a hose port which could be located anywhere on the back of the unit. Push a button and the pump turns on, drains from wherever they placed the hole (which you could hook, say, 5/8" tubing to), then use something like a plastic waste bin to catch the drained water. There's so many ways to solve this problem engineering-wise but they never do it. Silly.

Honestly, I have a similar AC and as a senior citizen, the idea of having to lift a bulky 70 pound unit up onto a platform high enough to drain this is nearly a ridiculous concept, especially if you live in a humid area where you need to drain the unit frequently. I have mine set on a piece of wood that raises it a few inches off the ground, enough so a deep cookie sheet fits and can be used to drain. The bowl shown in the video would never fit. So the next challenge is getting the cookie sheet from my bedroom to the bathroom without spilling any water so I keep a real bucket nearby into which I empty the cookie sheet so I can tote the water into the bathroom and dump it into the shower. It works, but it is a royal hassle. There has got to be a better design out there. Do they have any "risers" like they do for the LG front loading washing machines that where the AC could be securely mounted to make the draining easier? Or even better, how about a removable drainage tank? Or a platform with a little ramp where you could roll the AC up high enough to easily drain the tank like you see in the video? LOL! I know the ramp idea sounds silly, but it helps keep the unit portable.

Why can’t they put the drain hole someplace that you don’t have to jimmy rig something under the unit to drain. Either that, or providence the stuff you need to drain it - including a hoist to lift it up off the ground, plus a hose that actually fits and the pan to put under the unit to drain. Seems like a lot of effort. Just fix the process so it’s easier.whoever invented this method anyway????

I live in Las Vegas and this thing fills up with water every 10 minutes. We are one of the driest places on earth. I can't sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time without having to get up and empty this thing. Absolute nightmare. Also, LOL at using the exhaust as an inverter U. The thing would heat up and shutoff after 5 minutes. Has to blow DIRECTLY outside or won't get enough airflow to work properly.

Can someone tell me if this type of AC is supposed to make humidity exit outside through the vent hose? If not, and the humidity only accumulates into the inside reservoir, why is it so small? I need to have a dehumidifier run throughout the day to keep humidity levels in check. It would be a nightmare to have to carefully drain this every 15 minutes.

Tipped it forward, sideways, you name it (& it's not exactly light) some water came out, not much. Thought maybe it doesn't hold much I thought. Hooked back up and worked for a few hours and off it went again beeping FL. *side note can't stop the beeping unless I unplug it, that's kinda annoying* Tried to get more water out which I did, again not a whole lot but it's a a real pain even getting that little bit out! Hooked up yet again, even less time than before, maybe a couple hours, off it goes again! So its been running pretty much over month & half, worked fine and not once did the FL come on. Now its coming on every few hours & after much difficulty getting water out in the first place. Its hot right now & I don't know what else to do to make this work! HELP PLEASE!

Hey there! When your cooling system is in operation, the heat exchanger cools moisture in the air, creating condensed water like dew on a cold glass in summer. However, if the heat exchanger gets wet due to external factors, it can lead to unpleasant smells or even the growth of fungus. To tackle this, try setting the target temperature to 68 degrees or lower to extend the cooling effect and improve any unpleasant smells. After cooling, switch to fan mode for about 5 minutes to dry out the heat exchanger and reduce any lingering odors. Remember to clean the suction filter with water and let it dry in the shade to get rid of any odors. If the odor persists, then you may need to disassemble and wash the internal parts according to the user manual. Let us know if these steps help. ^ Diego

I think you need to get your units checked. I have two identical models--I'll update with their numbers. One I bought new, and I don't remember having to empty the drain once in the last three years. I've had zip problems with it, so I bought the same model from a neighbor in my apt bldg. It did great for two years, then started to make some clunking sounds when starting, but then calming down after a few minutes. Over the past couple of days I've had to empty the drain constantly--Every half hour if I don't want the ~4 cup pan to overflow. (I don't have it elevated, I have shoulder issues and can't lift it like that, although I might have to...) I'm so glad the heat should be calming down. The weird thing is, the two vent to windows that are probably less than twenty feet apart on the same bldg. wall, so absolutely have the same humidity exposure. One difference besides the other having been used, is that the one without water buildup has been turned off periodically, every day. The other, in my bedroom, I'd let go almost continuously, as the heat builds up in there easily. I think they need to be turned off regularly...something to do with condensers (?) I think the persons posting came here because of this issue, as did I, and I think the water is not the norm for these units. My other one has never needed emptying and has never made a sound, over the low hum, which is a lot more quiet than my floor fan. I'm broke right now, but will post on what I find out after I bring the misbehaving one to a repairman.

My AC spits water from the vent even when it drains a little bit of water comes out i have to carry it to the bathtub which is a little bit heavy and tilt it enough so that the water can drain completely any advice?
@LGUSASupport
@LGUSASupport 3 ай бұрын
Hey there. 1. Check the Tilt: Ensure that your AC unit is properly tilted from front to back. The back of the unit should be slightly lower than the front to allow for proper drainage. If the tilt is not sufficient, adjust the unit accordingly. 2. Clear the Drain Hole: Make sure that the drain hole at the back of the unit is clear of any debris or blockages. You can use a small brush or a pipe cleaner to gently remove any obstructions. 3. Check for Condensation Buildup: If the humidity is high or it's a rainy day, condensation may build up faster than it can drain. Consider using the AC less or adjusting the temperature setting to reduce condensation. 4. Inspect the Drain Hose: Ensure that the drain hose is not clogged or kinked. If there are any clogs, gently remove them to allow for proper drainage. 5. Verify Proper Installation: Double-check that your AC unit is installed correctly. It should be securely braced to wood, masonry, or metal. Also, make sure that there is sufficient outside clearance around all sides, top, and bottom for optimal airflow. If you have followed these steps and this persists, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can work together to find some alternative solutions. ^ Diego

If this is a Portable AC that you are inquiring about, installing a drain hose in the lower drain port is only for when you need dehumidification in high humidity when you run the unit in DRY mode (dehumidifying mode). It does not work for the COOL mode. IN COOL mode, the unit still extracts moisture from the air & the condensate collects in the internal water collection tank & will need to be emptied manually when the tank gets full & the LED display shows FL...^Ivan

Mine shuts off with FL notice so I drain it but it won’t fully drain
@LGUSASupport

Hey there. We're here for you and want to help you have the best experience with your AC. If you're encountering the FL error code, indicating a full drain pan and unsuccessful drainage attempts, try these quick fixes: 1) Remove the drain port cap and tilt the air conditioner backward to encourage water flow from the drain outlet. 2) Should tilting not result in drainage, it's likely your unit requires professional repair. If you need assistance, send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport, and we'll be happy to walk you through some more steps. We're always here to support you. ^ Diego

How do I clean the condensate drain? It is clogged. It is NOT the water collection tank. It fills quickly and sprays water into the room. Again, it is NOT the water collection tank. It is the condensate drain. Thank you!!

Nope LG did not make a collection bucket in this unit! I guess that would make too much sense to LG. I unplugged that little black drain plug thing and only a trickle of water came out. I guess most of it already made its way to my carpet!🤨

The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install kzbin.infoUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

What if the exhaust hose can't be taken off? Does it make a difference?
@LGUSA
@LGUSA 2 ай бұрын
Hi! If you're unable to remove the exhaust hose from your LG Portable AC, it shouldn't impact the draining process significantly. The key is to ensure that the drainage system, typically located at the bottom of the unit or near the exhaust port, remains clear and functional. This allows condensation to properly drain out during operation. If you have any specific concerns or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to our customer support team for personalized guidance. -Junel
