Mini-led is having its day in the sun. Hisense dual cell is coming, and then maybe QD OLED next year? What new TV tech are you most excited about? I’m not sure I’m sold on mini-LED yet.

@@henryphilippeaux4503 Not necessarily. I think it is going to be a few years before some of this new tech really grabs a foothold, if it does at all. This year and next is a tough time to buy new TVs due to pricing going or staying high because of supply chain issues.

I just purchased this TV, even though it’s a 2021 model based on your recommendation. I’ve been a follower of your reviews for some time and have found them credible and informative. It’s funny how other reviewers seem to push one brand over others, regardless of what brand they’re actually reviewing. Some of your reviews, especially on this Qned99 are a complete contrast to theirs, buti trust your judgement. So thanks for keeping it honest and real and I’m sure i won’t regret the purchase based on your review. PS - if it’s not like your review, World Domination will not happen 😊😂.

In all honesty I wouldn’t put much stock in anything that dude has to say about any LED sets because he’s a known OLED fan and he lets his bias prevent him from being objective. As I’ve said before there’s nothing wrong with having a preference it’s just that if you’re going to try to give impressions on tech that you don’t really care for (in this case a LED QNED set) then you need to keep your bias in check. If you can’t do that then you shouldn’t be trying to give a review.

The one thing I miss any review is the pricing. I don't know if that a KZbin thing or what. When picking out a new TV I always go with what's in the budget. Since the MSRP is never mentioned it's a lot if research. This would be a tv I might purchase or not.
@percysowner
@percysowner 3 жыл бұрын
It's not hard to get a general idea. Click show more and you get a link to the TV being sold by Best Buy (usually). It isn't MSRP, but as the price changes throughout the year, you can see what it will cost you when you are looking. I've read older reviews when looking for a new TV and the price from 6 months ago won't help me now, but a link to the product on sale gives me a current price. OTOH, the current link is to the A1 not the set being reviewed.

please note that you can turn off the TruMotion in Cinema Home mode. In order to do that you need to go to the AI menu and turn off the setting that is called something like "auto adjust based on content". once it is off, the TruMotion setting will become enabled, and you can turn it off. The picture seems to be noticeably brighter in Cinema Home mode, compared to Cinema eventhough the contrast setting is 100 in both, so it maybe better to use the Cinema Home.

Digital Trends only review TVs that they are loaned to by the companies for free. Sony hasn't had a habit of doing that with their Z models, if at all. Usually they have a show where select few reviewers can see the TV for an hour or so each. With the current state of the world that won't be happening either. So reviews will be even more scarce for the Z9J. If you haven't heard already it can do 10,000 nits at 5% window on Vivid mode. Over 7000 in Custom mode. Around 2500 nits full screen brightness, which is more than just about any TV can do for its peak brightness. The Z9J TV is off the charts!

It seems the focus on 8k means high end experience will only be reserved for the 8k variants of a TV. LG is doing it with this tv, but other brands too. I don't like the idea of upscaling.

AI upscaling has come a long way in just the past few years. Look up some videos on how well the nvidea shield handles AI upscaling for an idea of where upscaling is right now. I own a shield and definitely think the 'fake' 4k is much better than 1080p.

3090 can already do 8K on certain games if you turn the settings down. Lots of people use high end tvs as monitors. I agree with your comment though

@@ValerieFire I bought a 3090 last year for MRSP just because I wanted to buy an 8K tv this year, and if it wasn't for mining being profitable, I would feel like I wasted money. Luckily because of mining, my card is already paid off, and then some.... I wouldn't consider 8k gaming possible until at least a 4080 next year and even still, you will want to play older great games and newer ish games not heavy on graphics so you can get a solid 60 with no drops...

Bought the 86 inch version of this a few weeks ago, horrendous dirty screen effect on it!! Can't believe LG don't have better/stricter QA on this type of thing. Very disappointing, especially as LG are saying it's working 'within specification'

Hi Caleb, I've recently just bought this TV in the UK and instantly noticed bad dirty screen effect. Is there ways to fix this or do I need to call out LG to repair it or is it down to the store I got it from to exchange it? Or, will they just say it's down to the technology 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is it true that the QNED99 doesn't support VRR while the QNED90 (and pretty much every other TV in this price range) does? If so, do you not see that as a drawback for gaming on the QNED99?

Yes, no VRR is a concern, but how important will VRR be for console (Series X gaming) remains to be seen. Is 4k 120 frames with Dolby Vision enough?

But knowing I can get the 83” C1 for $1000 cheaper has me scratching my head as to why this TV can warrant such a huge price tag. I realize it’s new tech but I assume the C1 is superior in almost every way.

Hi Caleb, greetings from Spain! Need to ask about piece of advice (wisdom instead, hehehe)… For the price (around 3800 €), I have the chance to get a 85 inches Samsung QN95 (flagship 4k) or 86 inches QNED99 from LG (flagship 8k). I know the advantages and disadvantages of each model (including the VA panel vs. IPS panel, dimming zones number and performance, 4k vs 8k (not needed nowadays), HDR formats availability (best LG Dolby Vision), gaming features, one connect hub, etc.). I,m about 4,5 m far from TV while watching it and I come from a 60 inches Samsung TV (6 years old, JU6800 model). What do you recommend me to get? Any other suggestion?Million thanks in advance and stay being so accurate and professional!! You are the best!

I am a big fan of this channel and I'm hoping I could tap into the community's expertise. I am looking for some input on a TV purchase: My current TV is a 2010 Samsung LN40C560 (1080p LCD). I am looking to buy a new 55" TV (the layout of the room precludes a larger panel) and I am having a difficult time deciding which TV makes the most sense for me. I am considering getting a 2020 model OLED. It is my understanding that any improvements made to the 2021 OLED lineup would be lost on me given the quality of what I'm accustomed to watching, and purchasing a 2020 model could save me a few hundred dollars. I am also considering Sony (X900H or X90J) or Samsung (QN90A or Q80A) LED TVs. I am looking for something to watch OTA sports, streaming (Netflix, Prime, HBO Max, etc.) and occasionally Blu-ray movies. The room is reasonably bright, but most of my viewing will take place in the evenings. I would be grateful for any suggestions. TIA

Please start mentioning how much worse the LG Web OS is. It really should be considered when buying a new TV. The basic ESPN app and the basic Fox TV apps are not available on Web OS. There are lots of sporting events like top 20 college basketball games that might not appear on normal TV broadcasts in fall because they occur during college football Saturday, etc. That makes sense, but you need espn app if you want to watch them,. The Fox app also offers football games in 4k without upcharges that KZbinTV wants, etc. This is why TVs with native android TV(like Sony)are superior for at least the OS and compatibility side. For LG you have to try to stream from your phone, and I think stuff like the OS should be mentioned.
