I bought a very good condition V30 for 250$ in Korea and installed the latest cstark google camera port. I couldn't be happier. It's a pleasure to use V30. Hope V40 price also goes down like that. Oh BTW, the software on the V30 is very smooth. Haven't experienced any stutter, I was actually worried about that before buying but it's much better than I expected. My previous S8 plus was stuttering like hell, ugh Samsung.

It was great on V10 g5 v20. Not great on glass back. That's also why iPhone home button was replaced with touch id. More durable, better haptic vibration feeling. That's what happens when you don't have a good marketing department... Many people complained about the power button on the back because they didn't know how to activate the screen by double tap. As a brand, if you are going to implement features in a way that is not the standard, you have to tell people about it and how to use them! It doesn't matter if you (LG) has always had the double tap wake up feature, you have to think about the costumers who has never had an LG phone before. And that's only one of the problems with the marketing of LG phones on recent years

@@quchi7232 The Manuel camera on LG phones are just awesome. But the camera hardware on the V30 is just not good... I had the V30 for the last whole year. I loved the camera software but the hardware with things like the small 1.0µm pixels ruins it a bit. I don't know who thougth it is a good idea to use smaller sensors on the V30. That's just stupid. And I don't even want to start about the wide angle camera which shrinks with every new model (135° -> 125° -> 120° -> 107° ...). "Less distortion" is just a bullshit argument. That's like saying that they use only x1.5 optical zoom because x2.0 has a smaller wide angle...

Great review 👍 as always by GSMArena. I watched the shots on GSMArena site review. LG V40 's camera samples look gorgeous! Too bad, I bought the G7 a few months ago. I'm very pleased with it, but the V40 has a zoom x2 lens in addition to g7, that makes it unbeatable. And the quality of zoomed in shots look fantastic! I don't know if I have to trade my g7 for v40 . This phone is a temptation! !

Overall a good review of a great phone ..thanks GSMArena ! Other reviews are so biased that you don't get to see the product., so kudos to the reporting . Also incredible , engaging sharp B-Roll ! I have this phone and watched the review to see how GSMarena treated it . I only wish the reviewer would have stated that the battery was 20% smaller capacity than the other $900 plus flagships and that performance was on par for the specified capacity. Also very glad the reviewer did not harp on OS version Oreo as others do . An update , LG and most carriers discounted the phone immediately $150 to $200 making it just over $700 a week after it was announced ., so like the battery 20% less $$ than the other flagships . There's a lot to like about the V40 but it will never cease to amaze me why LG didn't put a bigger battery in a phone this size and doesn't spend more time trying to get the basics on their cameras right. With a f1.5 aperture on their main camera it should be able to go head-to-head with the Galaxy s9 and Note 9 but they still lag behind.

Andrew Louden yeah I'm not so sure they know what they're talking about, or they're just taking shots at LG, but all three OLEDS here are made from a plastic substrate, hence how they're able to bend to fit the iPhone and note, despite the marketing names they're all the same, just LG's isn't active matrix.

Tech, not all OLEDs are the same, LG's OLEDs have trouble shutting off on certain shades of black (Or they turn off too much and crush things) or decide to show gray at points. Similar to color banding. Hard to explain, but it's like AMOLED panels from a few years ago.... Only worse in some cases. HOWEVER, batches from LG are weird, I had a PERFECT display on my V30. Others were just terrible. Still a great display, but not beating Samsung.

What u on about most people use Samsung phones more then Apple plus android owns almost 75% or more of the market cause the software is available on multiple phones like lg samsung htc sony etc plus lg was known for having oled screens on their tvs practically the best now phones like hawiai sony and lg now have the best displays on their phones with oled displays but the big flaws with oled displays is they were known to have screen burns
@VEN0M415
@VEN0M415 5 жыл бұрын
@@sulaman4280 I'm not arguing about how many people use Samsung, What I'm on about is that even though LG phones are fantastic, It feels like they purposefully set themselves up for failure with regards to grabbing customer attention. For instance the camera: My V30 has one of (if not) the best camera hardware on a phone; but the software adds a heavy blur filter that no one has wanted for years. Another thing is pricing, LG released an Android One G7 in Canada, but its priced at $700+ where other phones offer more features for less. Another thing, LG has always been slower at updating their phones, credit where its due they've made more updates than before; but its still far too late compared to other devices. What else could push a company to make these stupid decisions that will make them less popular? (puts tinfoil hat on) I think they're payed off by companies like Samsung (which uses the same design and hardware a lot) to keep their phones less appealing so that more people go for other brands that cost the same. The only difference between Samsung and LG phones now are camera pictures quality and Bixby (Samsung) vs Google assistant and DAC/Amp support (LG). If LG made their camera software as good as Samsung; along with quick updates to the OS and security patches, they would be far more popular and Samsung would start losing sales. I know it sounds cringe and conspiracy theory crazy... but it really explains the stupid decisions LG has made for years. I love my V30; but I feel like it was held back in many ways.

Has it improved the Dac? Same as V30 or better? My V20 sounds better than my V30 or V35? Why?
@toonmaster6666
@toonmaster6666 5 жыл бұрын
Well the v35 is actually alot better phone it runs smoothly better then the v40 also the screen looks smother then the v20 also update on the high five chip . Is not to much of a update compare to what the v20 did but we have the v40 so I recommend. Spending the price for it ! I like my v35 cause it fits my every day Life as a nomal person ! also don't forget the v20 won't get any more updates!

I guess my expectations because I am older the phone cameras are not a replacement EVER for a real camera. They are designed for on the go picture taking so when people start talking about picture quality from a phone which basically all of them are hit and miss it really hurts my had want to say please be quiet. This phone does a very good job and to be honest not everyone is 22 and want to take selfies all day long. I use my phone for work so it needs to get in and out of emails, have a good speaker phone, web conferencing. That a decent picture, not a life style portrait.

Hmm..If you want a selfie phone, I think you should buy an iPhone. This phone is for content creators and people who will spend the time using the manual features of the camera. Doing a camera review and not even touching on these features is selling the phone very short. It has one of the best cameras and the best audio on the market. It's a shame it's seldom reviewed correctly.

@@elghailanielbanbari3644 yes it is true. LG v20 and g6 are throttled like more than 40% of their true raw power. U can check the CPU clockspeeds. It has nothing to do with the UI. And mia2 Android One is very basic, oxygenos is just so much better

I thought your review was very weak. I'll grant you the MLP is probably too high but in reality the phone generally can had for a lot less. In that, you're getting a ton of spec's for a phone. i don't take any photos anymore and when I really want to take a nice photo I use my SLR, The phone is mainly for getting that quick shot in. However, if you take photos the phone is loaded. What I love about this phone is the DAC 32 for music. Unbelievablle. That I do use and a lot. It has a headphone jack to support this quality of sound. i have the carmine red and it puts Apple's red to such shame. The one thing that concerns me is software updates. I gather people who use samsung's have this problem also. To conclude, the v40 is a wonderful phone. Although I have a xs Max, I tend to pickup my v40. When I go out, I still lean to the v40. It's lighter and I can't help loving the Carmin red.

The LG v40 is $400 unlocked at Costco.com right now. My OP6T has a RAM consumption issue. I literally have to restart it 10+ times a day to clear the RAM. Is the V40 just as good?
