Got a brand new GE front load with the vent. They installed it on a Wednesday tried to do laundry on Thursday, kept shutting off, couldn’t complete a single cycle. Sent it back and got a LG front load, 4000 love it.

I’m may purchase the 4000 to replace our LG set of 14 years. The washer and dryer still works great, but there’s a hole in the washer gasket that’s been leaking which may have lead to internal rusting. $400-500 repair for parts and labor is more than the machine is worth at this point.

I only care about one feature; reliability. Thanks for that info.

Certainly, in a broad sense, the machines are equivalent. If I had to buy a washing machine tomorrow and only one of the two was available, I'd be happy with the available machine. If, however, both machines were available, my decision would turn on the availability of repairmen in my locale. I know I can have a repairman come and fix the Whirlpool; the LG, I'm not so sure. On that count, it'd be the Whirlpool for me.

Fair enough.....good decision

Having triple the failure rate (3.3% vs 9.5%) within 1 year does not reflect well on Whirlpool.

I have an older LG front loader, that has a max speed of 1200rpm, and certain heavy fabrics dont get spun out at all at the maximize speed, and instead, must step down to 1000rpm to spin out very heavy fabrics. Also, my model does not have turbo wash, as I could not afford that model. I can not compare it to my model. Anyway, I dont like how the basic LG washers fill using a rising effect, that it never filled with enough water, based on default settings. I had to hack my machine to actually fill with more water, just so every fiber actually got wet. I personally don't like the sensing mode, as it does not seem to fill with enough water. 11 to 13 gallons in my opinion does not do a good job. My last front loader was from 1999 by Frigidaire, and depending on fabric, it used as little as 18 gallons for the lightest fabric, and up to 27 gallons for the heaviest fabric. It was for a wash, spray rinse during the draining of the wash water, then 3 short rinses. You also saw that it used water. My LG, if left at the factory settings, the window did not get wet at all, and two-thirds of the clothes remained dry.
