Frank thanks for confirming my purchase. I just bought the LG and it will be delivered this weekend. I was debating over spending the extra $500 on the GE but decided to just stick with my gut instinct and keep the LG. Never thought I would be getting excited to wash clothes.

Never thought a simple review of a washer would get so much activity. I’m always willing to be the guinea pig to try out new stuff.

Aside from the better lint filter, LG has a direct drive motor. I don't trust GEs belt drive. If GE decides to build a unit with direct drive and a more efficient lint filter that could give them the edge. Would probably increase the price and overall weight of the machine.

Thanks for your review Frank. It would nice to get further updates with any new pros or cons with your new unit. Unfortunately, it is not yet available in Canada. Until it is, I look forward to any new information & thanks again for posting your video.

The KZbin guy named Ben that deals in washers and dryers reviewed both of these namebrand units. He did say he liked the LG better but he also said he believe he found the problem in the GE, which you only had to put a beat of caulking around the other side Filter and he seems to think that will fix it. The GE seems to be less steps to wash where the LG has I think over 30 different variations or even more. So I am going to take a chance and buy the GE and do the little silicone bead on the backside of the filter and we’ll see what happens, you’re right they’ll probably come out with a new improve filter soon for the GE and I believe the GE will come down $500 in the next few weeks to match the same price as the LG. Thanks for the video it was good.

I’ve seen his videos and watched them very closely. I really love his tear downs as well, they are very informative. I actually did try to seal the GE filter. But used tape instead of sealant so it wasn’t permanent if I return in. The tape helped reduce it but was still having a lot of bypass.

@@Ultravorx has any lint got pass the LG yet? some comments have said yes but wondering how you are doing with lint?
@Ultravorx3 ай бұрын
@@dlmurray55I do get some bypass. Nothing too crazy. I tried removing the first filter, the plastic piece because it was deforming my gasket. I still get a little bypass. My next trial once I go to the hardware store is to pick up some foam gaskets and try to seal the opening from the lint trap to the machine

Once all these manufacturers get to the 2nd generation of these units they will be improved greatly by learning from the other manufacturers mistakes

Glad to hear the LG isn't showing any signs of lint buildup on the evaporator coil. Reports of buildup and the absurd amount of disassembly required to thoroughly clean the evaporator on the GE turned me off it.
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
So I posted an updated video. There is a little bit of lint getting but, but super easy to wipe down vs the GE.

Hi! Is there any chance you could do a really careful measurement of the side-to-side width? It says 27” but I’m really close on space, and even the smallest amount over or under 27” (even an 1/8th or 1/4”) would make a difference for us. I’ve not found one near me or I’d measure it myself on a display. Thanks so much!

Thank you for this video☺️ I was ready to go out and purchase the GE and saw the new LG and watched a few reviews on it plus yours and now i can definitely see the issues with the GE so LG is the winner in my book. Did you take out any extended warranty on the LG?
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
I took the additional 2 year warranty. So 3 years total. Really bought the warranty since this is “new” tech in the US. It after using this for over a week I can definitely say it’s far superior to the GE.

So, the Ge version dumps their excess lint on those near-inaccessible coils, & LG prefers to deposit theirs right at the “mouth” of the unit…very easy to wipe or vacuum with a wet vac💪🏾. LG(S. Korean) vs. GE(Chinese) engineering…This American appreciates the little LG quirks and their easy fixes. By the time I'm ever in the market to invest in one of these, they should all be designed near-adequately, with a glut of more choices on the market. Maybe Speed Queen or Maytag will produce a commercial version before the decade ends🤔. Thanks for your helpful upload👏🏾👍🏾.

Since when did GE become a Chinese company. The issue isn't the mfg location. The design was done by GE in the US.

@@volatilememory9338 GE has been owned by Haier, a Chinese-based company, since ‘16.

One review said the GE is made in China and the LG is made in South Korea, is that true could not confirm on Google. Since you used both how does the washing drying compare.
@Ultravorx5 ай бұрын
You are correct. GE china, LG South Korea. Lg has always been 100% dry on everything I throw at it. The Ge left heavy loads damp.
@gnewt756 ай бұрын
I like this unit but for my space the depth is an issue. The depth is 33 1/8". The GE is 30" in depth. Since you've had both GE ultrafast combo and now this, are the dimensions vastly different??
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
The lg is definitely smaller and lighter.
@gnewt756 ай бұрын
@@Ultravorx interesting... Because according to the measurements listed, the depth is larger than the GE.
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
@@gnewt75I don’t have a tight fit, kind of an open room. So since it’s shorter it feels smaller. But I’d trust the measurements given by LG.

Does this unit allow for extra water like the GE does. I know from having previous front load LG washers. they're very frugal with water. Did they put in a water plus ?
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
I just just checked and it doesn’t. Closest thing is it has a pre wash option. However I’ve never had an issue where it don’t feel like there wasn’t enough water/detergent.
@petermaz7016 ай бұрын
@@Ultravorx thanks for your quick reply. I hate to say, but I'm very old-school so I got rid of my front loaders and bought a speed queen because I like a lot of water that's just me. Lol

@@petermaz701 the speed queens are simple beasts! Our main reason for the combo was so kids could easily do laundry and not forget wet cloths in the washer.

It seems like the LG cycle times for a full wash and dry are quite a bit longer than GE. How much of a difference are you seeing?
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
I’ve seen shorter times than the GE. My cycles are typically 2-3 hours. Wash and dry ai setting
@CyrusPenrod6 ай бұрын
Do the clothes feel dryer? Is the total cycle time about the same as the GE?
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
It’s about the same or better. Most AI wash and dries are about 2 hours total. The cloths never feel damp or moist.

Where did you buy from that you returned the GE? How long did you have it for?
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
I bought it from GE direct. They have a 7 day return policy, plus the pick up time from the carrier. So I’ve been running it a little over two weeks.
@jimmyfox2316 ай бұрын
Gotcha. I have had mine for about a month. I do like it but I’m very concerned about the lint build up. The filter doesn’t make me comfortable with long term use. I want to exchange for the LG. I might be stuck.
@jimmyfox2316 ай бұрын
@@Ultravorx Do you have any drawbacks compared to GE besides the door collecting alittle more? I love the GE microban. Are you missing anything after the switch? Are drying time and feeling out of the dryer the same? You did say 2.5-3 hrs was that what your loads were getting on the GE?
@Ultravorx6 ай бұрын
So far we are really happy with the switch. No build up on the coils. It’s wet in there after a wash signifying that it’s being washed. Drying times for everything have been 2.3-3 hours. This has been full loads as well. All cycles using AI wash and dry. The only thing missed on the GE is the buttons to use detergent or softener. On the lg they are a few clicks into the menu. Definitely happy with the LG.
