i feel this so much though. i pride myself on living authentically everywhere i put myself (online included) but even then there's no way someone could get a full scope of me from a site, or even my videos (although thats pretty up there). But even youtube, as all content creators know, we only really put up what makes us look good (or we hope it does).

I feel the same way about meeting someone in person rather than an app. Its just so much easier to see what a person is about when you can look at them eye to eye.

I've been online dating sites, but just to see what was out there.. not so much. But I don't know, for some reason I feel like an in person connection is just so much better!

I was iffy on trying online dating apps, but a friend in college said try it and I met an amazing guy who 5 yrs later we have a great life and 2 dogs with each other. And to add to the story we dated long distance for 8 months before relocating to be with each other!

I have online dated and I mean it works but you have to keep that connection with the person and be honest. I feel like online dating is a lot of work but for a lot of people it seems to work. Specially for people like me who live in a very spread out town that I recently just moved to. So I really don't know many people. So for me really online is the only thing I got for now

I met my boyfriend on OkCupid - and we probably sent each other 4 messages in total before meeting at a bar (in Boston) for drinks and hit it off immediately. We've now been dating for over 2 years! I think online dating is really about what you want to get out of it, as much as it is what you want to out into it. Definitely not for everyone, and I'm not a proponent of talking to someone for weeks to months on end without ever meeting. I see it as a vehicle to meet someone IRL. Just one of the myriad ways we can meet people in today's world.

I'd much rather meet somebody in person, but if I happen to meet the love of my life online first, I wouldn't be opposed to that.

I met my current boyfriend on Jack'd and we instantly clicked. We've been dating for 2 months now and in love. So apps and internet isnt super bad. Its just patience and messaging or getting that one message from a guy you may think is "eh" but the connection after makes him look like a god in your eyes :)

dear Neil, I need your advice. I'm 19 and I've been looking for my MrRight for quite some time now. Now the problem is that I have this image in my head of me and this special person being happy together forever, but the thing is, that the way most gay men communicate here (I am going to get back to my location part a bit later) using dating apps and so do I. And the thing is that it never works out. I put too much hope in it and.... Now then, I live in Lithuania (small Baltic country. Near to Poland, Latvia, Belarus. It was in the USSR) and here I can't really say that people are homophobic, but I wouldn't be able to safely walk down a street holding hands with a man. But the idea of meeting online is not acceptable to me. I just feel it has to be natural and romantic (that's how I want it to be at least). Finally, there is this one guy. Let's go from another direction. I barback. And there is this guy who comes with his friends to play table football on the weekends before the party starts (while there are not many people, no dj I mean). He is gay. You know what I mean. We look at each other. Smile for a while when I change up his bills for the machine. And I hope that he will iniciate something, but I have so much shit in my head that it fucks up the natural flow of energy for the wanted situation to occur I guess it was more of a monologue than a request for advice, but I wouldn't mind reading what you have to say about it

I will say this about online dating. If you're the type of person who, for whatever reason, doesn't have a very active social life, online dating is probably the best option. If you're looking to hook-up, the apps beat cruising in the park or a restroom like they did in the olden days before the Internet. Otherwise, it's not for everyone.

Online dating is for "sniffing". Guy A sends a note to Guy B. After the usual questions (stats? top or bottom? safe or bare? into? etc...) You meet for coffee. If both are horny, it leads to sex. IRL is for relationships. I believe the best relationships happen when everything is organic and nothing is rushed or forced.

Lucky for me my fiance found me on OKcupid. From all my years(like 5) of meeting guys online I knew if I wanted this to work the sex had to wait. We fell in love and I asked him to marry me on 11/22/14 after only a year. Surprisingly I thought I would have negative feedback from everyone but they proved me wrong. My grandparents can not wait to meet him blah blah blah. So I had a nice time with online dating but your right everyone knows someone his bff I slept with like 7 times before I met my fiance.
Maybe if we all just be ourselves without the pink hair, nose rings and other superficial bullshit we'd get somebody to date and spend time with who is worthy of our real true self and not the fucken Christmas tree we are presenting as ourselves.

A good video. Good advice. I am just wondering, no offense intended, but do you really think you look good with that red mohawk and nose ring? I don't. You look like a cartoon caricature. What are you trying to do with this?
@matydee10 жыл бұрын
It's called expressing yourself. You probably don't mean to come off as judgmental as it looks like but phrasing it like that is pretty rude. Constructive criticism, yay! Overly blunt remarks, not so much.
@nexttsar10 жыл бұрын
Matthew Daniel Did I not say "no offense intended"? I think I did. I'm sorry, I think it looks ridiculous. Are we really living in an "Emperor's New Clothes" world where everyone sees but no one says?
@matydee10 жыл бұрын
nexttsar Putting the word "no" in front of a word doesn't make it go away. Asking Neil why he chooses to express himself with a pink mohawk and nose peiricing is fine. Insinuating that Neil can't possible think he looks good with a pink mohawk and nose piercing is not. Too often gay men are bashed or questioned for their appearance by outsiders and seeing other members of the community do the same thing is uncalled for. You are entitled for your opinion, I'm just saying be respectful about it. Again, saying "no offense" doesn't make it less offensive.
@BangtanNoona10 жыл бұрын
nexttsar So if someone says something horribly homophobic to you than follows it up with no offense intended, that would cancel out their homophobia? If someone says something horribly racist to me same thing? That must be some powerful magic. Bottom line Neil does not get dressed in the morning hoping to please you or me, hopefully he does so to please himself and nobody else. You don't have to wear his stuff and you sure as hell don't have to look his way if you don't want to.
@nexttsar10 жыл бұрын
sandra hinojosa I don't see how my comment, with no personal offense intended, is comparable to a homophobic or racist comment. Actually, I wanted a reply from Neil, and not a mouthy response from you!

Actually, it's his huge nose that makes his nose look huge. I believe it's called, "owning it".
