My Wife and I did this 22 yrs ago, damn time flys, now we have 22 yr old grown ass twins who are both Graduating from college this year! We chose to have a known donor, but they still aren’t interested in knowing who he, but it’s nice to have to option if they ever do. Good luck!

I would love to know how many of these personality characteristics end of revealing themselves. Biology plays so much of a role in our personality, but nurture puts all the love on it and makes it shine. I am sure being raised by you two will result in an absolutely amazing, creative, kind human. It's so interesting to think about all of this.

I have quite a few patients who are donor kids and most of them search for their biological parent at some point. Often when they become parents themselves! So a known donor is important I think! Identity development etc but the family they grow up in is their heart family !

I am not donor-conceived, but I am adopted (with 2 biological siblings who have very different experiences than I do) and I am an (lesbian) OBGYN. I would love to reach out to you with the advice I have based on adjacent personal experience, professional experience, and research in the medical and alternative family communities. What is the best way to contact you with some information?

Weird factoid here, but a German friend wasn't allowed to donate sperm in the US because of fears of the transmission of Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease (Mad Cow) resulting from the previous consumption of raw red meat (a Bavarian dish). He is perfectly healthy, well-educated, successful and a long-time vegan as well but he was restricted for this reason. Useful info to show just how careful they are in the screening process when accepting a donation.

I was donor- conceived, and info about the donor is/was not available to me... but I am trying to find some loopholes to learn more. I'm curious where you found "feedback from the donor conceived community" through your research? Would also be open to chatting if you have questions or want to talk about what I wish I'd been told etc... Love your beautiful content! Xx

do you mind sharing the clinic you ended up choosing? and some others you looked at? I am also looking at the same procedure you two are, but I need to freeze my eggs first (I might be potentially transitioning, and even if not I am old and don't have a lot more time). My theoretical future partner will be carrying the child since I am trans, so for me pregnancy isn't an option. But since biologically we are dealing with same bodies, everything you are going to will apply to me. I heard clinics in spain are also good as well as denmark but austria is closest to me geographically. And I need to choose the clinic first since I will have to store the eggs there for future. Thanks for any info! (even if it is in a private message)

Please find someone who is willing to get to know your child one-day. I've watched several documentaries abt this and a high percentage of donor children, who didn't know who their donor fathers were, or could never meet them, felt a strong sense of loss/grief ..and confusion around their identity.. even when they came from loving homes. It sounds like you are sensitive and conscious around this..

My great fear as a sperm donor for two lesbians doing reciprocal IVF would be that someday two crazy women, not just one, will be tracking me down to get child-support payments out of me.

I get it, I’m all for adopting, but it’s a personal choice. Otherwise, why wouldn’t we ask everyone (ie, cis-het couples) to adopt and stop having their own children? 💁🏻♀️

Why is queer awareness a criterium for a donor from the sperm bank? If he's not gonna be involved in your life, then who cares what he thinks?
@gurmeharsingh48410 ай бұрын
You should consider lilians brother or first cousin for sperm so it fertilises with alexis egg and it will be the same as male version of lilian is her brother or male cousins

As a long time childcare worker and lesbian, I need to warn you that all children want to know who they are. There is no such thing as an anonymous donor. The agencies will change, laws will change and your children don't have to listen to your opinions. It's much less stressful to pick a close friend or even a relative to be the third parent. That's what you're signing up for even if you deny it or try redefining what you are doing. Most kids want to know who they really are even if they wait until you're dead. Why hamstring them with something less than the truth. Anonymous donors are often lied about. The agencies often produce a hundred under recorded siblings per donor. It's SO MUCH MORE FUN to pick out a daddy. Some fine gay man with talent and intellect that you are close to and want to include. Or you can do the right thing and adopt an infant keeping in mind open adoptions when viable. I say it's better to raise a motherless child than to have a kid that has to check their DNA before having unprotected sex.❤❤ sorry my opinion only. Remember all chickens come home to roost. The truth cannot be suppressed forever...
