Thank you for the support! The majority really don't seem to realize what goes into a normal review. Maybe I should do a "making of" video sometime, just to show people what goes on.
@LGR12 жыл бұрын
If by "last year" you mean "a handful of weeks ago", then you'd be correct. It released on October 23rd.

Laziness is a state of mind, not necessarily a lack of action. That's been my motto since darned near the beginning of this endeavor :)

Awesome, glad to hear. Whenever I get around to getting a DS I'll certainly keep it in mind.

Wow the graphics to this game are fantastic! It's kind of amazing to think the original game got a lawsuit slapped on it for ripping off of Mario Bros.!

I'm not even sure if my copy will arrive tomorrow. But rest assured that Seasons coverage will be on the channel sometime later this week.

Hey, I'm that fish-horror game guy. It's great to see you support and show indie games like this. :) My cousin actually has an original Giana Sisters copy (C64) and I have fond memories of playing it with him and my older brother.

I didn't take it as a complaint. I'm just saying that the hardware reviews haven't gone anywhere as you implied :) I'd love to do more than I already do, as I really do enjoy making them for you guys, but they're a crapton of work and I just don't have that much time in between my real job and real life in general. Maybe someday I'll be able to make such vidoes full time, but until then, I'm already spending all my free time doing games and whatnot.
@LGR12 жыл бұрын
They haven't gone anywhere, have you looked at my channel? There have been four videos featuring retro hardware just in the last couple months! Unfortunately, those videos take quite a bit of time to make and since this is only a hobby, not my job, I don't have the time to make more than I do. Besides, the channel has never been focused on hardware, which is why it's called Lazy Game Reviews and not Lazy Hardware Reviews ;)

I use a few things. I have a dedicated capture card, the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD, but I also sometimes use Fraps or Camtastia studio depending on what I'm recording.

It gets more challenging later on, but it still feels fair overall. It's mainly the sometimes awkward platforming (like where I was trying to jump onto the backs of turtles) and the sometimes weird checkpoint placement that makes it annoying. But this is a minor issue compared to the overall game, which is quite solid and enjoyable.

"It feels good...to manipulate these little girls...what? wait, let me rephrase that." LGR, you have a real knack for using such perverted humor but still seem so innocent and benign.

Character switching is quite enjoyable to me, and hasn't been done in very many games (especially platformers). But I totally agree that the stay system should be canned. I really don't like being arbitrarily held back from progressing through a game like this.

As i was a kid I played the Orignal Version of Giana Sisters Over and Over again. I think it was way better than the Mario Games from Nintendo. The Wonderful Soundtrack from Chris Huelsbeck is still in my head when I remeber back. I got to get this one, too.

I love the customization aspect and I like the physics engine. It's especially fun playing co-op. But the gameplay itself isn't much to right home about. Not really a lot of depth to it and it feels a bit awkward at times due to the physics engine. Only basing this on the first game though, haven't played the second one yet.

Dude, it's called MORPHING, and it's amazing how the whole environment can do that every time you switch between sisters! The Ikaruga thing with the gems is a neat touch - been seeing a few games use this in some form lately. I love the style - reminds me of Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii, so this would feel right at home on WiiU, should the developers decide to bring it to consoles! I'll be buying this one on Steam!

Well, this isn't a review... but yes, you can window this one. Honestly, I'd be more inclined to mention if you CAN'T window a game, since that's far more uncommon than being able to window a game. Can't remember the last game I couldn't window, as I record my footage from a window.

I've had the opportunity to give the DS version a try, it's quite a well done game. It's much like the original, but has some elements/concepts from New Super Mario Bros (Including a map of the dream world), and the remastered soundtracks are just amazing. The character sprite work is also quite impressive, as the characters are well drawn, and equally as well animated. Also, I'll admit, I forgot about this one, as well! D: Good review.

Awesome, platforming games have always tickled my fancy, and this one is no exception.

Looks like a really nice, and challenging platformer. It's nice to see a game that slaps your wrist telling you that you missed some things, and have to head back. The design looks quite difficult too, which is a fantastic change of pace. Games like Trine 1 and 2 are just way too casual and soft for me.
@Roobar_Plays12 жыл бұрын
Well, as for the DS version, it is much more like the original Giana Sisters, but with better graphics and levels and everything. It's definitely worth a try.

There's a Giana Sisters game for IOS (Iphone/Ipad/Ipod Touch) and Android that looks a lot like the original game just with some new levels.

No worries man, been a big fan for a while now. The editing can be a brutal and sometimes thankless job, but myself and my mates think your doing a great job! Although thanks to yourself, one of my friends now constantly walks around doing Duke Nukem quotes, so cheers for that! :-( lol thumbs up on your Vids from Ireland! Keep em' coming! :-)
@yostoyou12 жыл бұрын
The DS version is really nice and smooth and is its own game and not a complete remake. great music and sound on it which makes it feel like an Amiga game. the Android (and IOS, presumably) version is nowhere near as good, though. DS version is completely recommended if you like simple old-school platforming.

Recently, I just snagged this game or the Owltimate Edition as it's called on Switch from the Nintendo Eshop for only $2. As soon as I saw this game, I immediately thought of you and your review of the OG Giana Sisters. I remember back in the day when I had one of those PC game compilations that had games/demos etc. Anyways, I remember playing the demo of Giana Sisters and thought to myself this is totally a Super Mario ripoff but I still enjoyed it to say the least, lol.

Hey Clint. Awesome video once again. Oh, by the way: I demand LRGs of the following awesome games from my childhood and teenage years, because I am important and you need to make ME happy. Berzerk, Crusader - No Remorse, Chaos Overlords, Midwinter, One must fall 2097, Nebulus, D/Generation, Hexen. Get to work!

Well you just sold another copy of the game. I think a lot of people use the Plays as reviews. You can see the gameplay, you describe the controls, how they feel and while you may not nitpick or focus on anything to a point, you lay out enough information for people to make an informed decision on a purchase. Its possible its even better than a "review"-review would be.

wait wait wait.. im not say i don't like game reviews (in fact i really like them and i watch all of them).. but i really like your hardware ones! for my tastes i will really like to see all time and every day new hardware reviews but yeah is impossible... it was just a comment not a complain so dont worry, stay cool and continue your great work!!! PS: you made me buy a covox speech thing clone with your review!!! (my ibm ps/1 appreciate)

Really interesting Giana game. The DS version is okay - some levels are remakes of the old classic. It's a neat platformer and the music is really awesome. But I think it's typical made for the fans of Giana & Maria. ;-)

Can you window this game? I know how everyone cares but it really bothers me when I can't window a game. I've wasted a munch of money on games I can't play because of it. If possible could you include if it can be windowed in reviews from now on?

The level dynamically changing is cool and all, except why is does the emo girl get the light esthetic and the cutesy girl get the dark esthetic?

Maybe because on the inside, they're completely opposite to how they look, like real people can be?
@theblackwidower7 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. I just assumed it reflected how they felt. Cute Giana is afraid of the world, this great unknown that she doesn't understand. Punk Giana however is about to dominate this world of fluffy cuteness, which she can easily take down. That was my theory at least. However, you have to remember, they're actually the same person. One person with two personalities. So that actually is who they are on the inside.
