Nothing says early 90's like the platform game. But they weren't limited to consoles, oh no. Computers had Jill of the Jungle, Jazz Jackrabbit and of course, Realms of Chaos. This bloody fantasy side-scroller is remembered quite fondly in many an Apogee fan's mind, and for good reason. It RoCs. LAWL.

I had never even heard about this one before watching this review. Decided to try it for a little bit. Spent more than hour all mesmerized playing it. Instant favorite! Man, I've gotten a bad DOS-PC-fever from these videos of yours. Dosbox is great 'n all but I think I've got to start asking around if someone nearby happens to have some poor obsolete computer on their attic. Had a great 486 with all the fillings some years back, but had to get rid of it because life, and now the lust has returned..

Wow, I remember this game! As a kid I bought a CD that had Duke Nukem 1,2 and 3D (not the Atomic Edition) and it had a lot of shareware titles (Rise of the Triad, Terminal Velocity) including this one.. sadly never could get my hands on the full version :(

Nice reverse camera trick with the manual flying into your hand.I once got a A+ on a high school technology video.Which only showed me dropping a toy light saber over and over. Then I reversed the film and BAM I was using the force to grab my saber from across the room.I was the hero of my high school for a couple of days until it got annoying and I told them what I did. Then I was forever known as The Non Force Wielding Lame Jedi Hack

Just going by the title game screen.. I always thought it was Rise of the Triad prequel or something back in the day. The art styles looked very similar and it also was put out by Apogee. Please tell me I'm not the only one!

@phreakindee Indeed it is, it does have a storyline to it, but there are also a bunch of events that only appears when you go to certain locations. The part i remember best is the energy-management system, very complex for such a small game. Try it, if not for anything else, but the nostalgia :)

I don't know that this actually counts as a spoiler, but in-game there's mention of how Realms of Chaos is in the same game universe as Paganitzu, but in the past. So they're still related. Also, weapon power-ups permanently enhance your default weapons, but only for the episode they're found in. They can make the sword practically go across the whole screen.

Hey good review, interesting ides for the male/female switch, I may have to check this game out, for sure, as the game looks pretty cool, and while I get the liking the image of blood spattering, as an enemy dies, or is killed, I like the image of an enemy falling, and decomposing into a skeleton, for an enemy death, like other games have done, but that's just me...

No, wait, I think I Know what he's talking about! I had the Shareware version of this game and I remember you could only choose one character, and the only reason I remember that is because the screen where it shows what they like/hate are turned on to, was burned into my brain. I always remembered how useless the info was.
