I know this video is old, but you forgot to mention the eureka moments. That is currently my favorite new feature. In past games I always thought it was kinda dumb that people sitting in a library were the ones to invent new forging techniques.

On the uranium note about a minute in; if the strategic resource spawns under your district, you get the strategic resource automatically. If the resource is already there, *then* building over it destroys it. That way you can build early without worrying about losing out on resources that haven't been teched to yet.

I'm currently in the middle of playing a marathon game with twelve civilizations on a huge map. I started playing as Russia because their cities expand faster and it's become something very weird. It started when I realized that while they gain bonuses from tundra, actually building cities on that terrain makes food incredibly hard to acquire. I was also first to acquire a religion which I decided to call leonism, after the constellation Leo. It wasn't for several hundred game years that I noticed the name was unintentionally similar to Leninism. I'm now living in the year 2030 (or there about), in a religious and scientific war with Gandhi, and have fully embraced my rule with a communist government. I have a massive stockpile of wonders and great works, a large number of cities, but several of them are starving or at least hungry. All hail the fictional USSR!

While the patch does address a number of more 'minor' issues, as well as improving some Quality-of-Life aspects (the English Royal Docks actually giving it's bonus now was nice :p) Most of the key issues that they frankly should've addressed first, really aren't. I mean one of the worst issues was the AI declaring what by now is the fairly infamous Turn 75 "World War" ... which my brother never noticed as he's typically a very aggressive player; where-as I personally don't tend to be. Honestly, I've played all Civ Games at launch now; and while sure the AI isn't exactly renown for being 'Intelligent', even post patch it remains flat out broken. Most of what the Patch does, is soften to blow; but it doesn't resolve fundamental issues. The Pace of the Game is just wonky ... there are Eras that assuming you don't accidentally skip, are blink and you miss them. (Given Great People now Grant Bonus' based on Eras, as are quite a few of the Civic Cards reliant on being in a Given Era; well that's a problem) It's possible to skip certain technologies, while get those that should rely upon said earlier skipped tech. Religious Wars are, little more than annoying Gimmicks that IMO should've just been ANOTHER type of Army; with Upkeep (in Faith), Upgrades, Experience, etc. Support Units are a cool idea, but pre-patch it felt like they didn't do anything ... post patch, well they still don't appear to do anything. I know the Units themselves aren't supposed to, but I mean Battering Ram is supposed to allow "Full Damage" while attacking Walls (Blue Bar) the Siege Engine is supposed to provide "By-Pass to Base Health" ... and honestly I don't see a point in making them anymore cause well that's not how they appear to work; be it linked, unlinked, next to each other, etc. I could probably go on for a while; but what's frustrating is what's good about Civ 6 is so damn good and such an interesting and enjoyable that the issues; which are in some cases absolutely game breaking, are exasperated so much more as a result. It leads to such a Love-Hate Relationship. I also don't see the bloody point in the 2 Greek Civilisations when they're almost identical.

Unstacking cities comes at a cost - You need a good amount of meta knowledge to get even decently well planned cities. That is a HUGE detriment to new players - and anyone not willing to dig through Reddit to get decent information. The scaling district cost also works against the player - You're basically taught to pre-plop every district as soon as possible to get them as cheap. But then you discover the only tile of Oil on the entire continent right beneath one of those districts. And the AI... oh boy. Don't get me wrong - I don't dislike the game. But before that first, big patch it had a lot of problems. Problems that I personally don't feel like most big gaming sites even considered - I don't think it deserved near perfect scores. Maybe a 7.5 with half a point or slightly more with the patch.

Mansen this is the feeling that comes with ever civ game since 3. It comes out, some diehard fans hate it, others love it, others are lukewarm about it. civ6 is a further refinement of the game, and little more. In fact, the "problems" peoplr have with this game are almost verbatim the "problems" people had with civ5 when it first released. I, on the other hand, have enjoyed every civ game I've ever played, and I've played since II?
@amshermansen8 жыл бұрын
Greyghostvol1 I get what you're saying, but this isn't it. Civ VI had/has issues that are not fair to the customer after this many releases. Firaxis should have learned by now - especially when there are repeat mistakes at work here. Civ VI won't be a refinement until it at least matches that of Civ V, which just isn't the case yet.
@Greyghostvol18 жыл бұрын
Mansen and yet, people said the exact same thing of Civ5, "it won't be as good as civ 4 until at least a few patches." and if civ 4 in comparison to civ3. I've been with the civ community long enough to see this. Civilization has always needed a few patches to get to the level it should be at. If you haven't understood this the twenty plus years it's been around by now, idk what to tell you.

Civ 3 was my first in the series and I became hooked ever since. I have played through pretty heavy on all of them from 3 and up. I do want to get Civ 6, at first the graphics looked too much like revolution for me which I do like on the xbox and my phone but not on the full desktop pc. But the graphics look better now and grew on me a bit.

Are you going to do a review for the Rise & Fall expansion? What are your thoughts?

I got the 80 dolor version of civ 6 and I have about 124 hours and have no regrets because I know I'm getting the dlc anyway

My attention in this video is all turned into that one game on the left shelf, below the Serious Sam boxes with an alien head... (0:01) It turns out to be a game called "Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages", which even got a release on GOG. It's almost similar to the classic "Myst" game.

I've never played a 4x game before, but I'm gonna try out Alpha Centauri fairly soon. Looking forward to it.
