To clarify a point I brought up about disliking the idea of packs mixing content that is both *for DLC-owners* and *for everyone...* It's all about context. As an example, in Jungle Adventures I mentioned that having some new outfits for cats and dogs would've been nice. But here I'm saying that including them is off-putting. Here's an expansion (pardon the pun) on my thought process: In my mind, including a few bonus pet outfits in an unrelated and _much larger_ game pack would be nice as a nod to C&D owners, much like how Jungle Adventures and other packs have included new foods to use with Dine Out restaurants if you happen to own that. It'd be a small extra thing for certain players, but not a significant focus of the pack. However, the fact that _SO MUCH_ of My First Pet stuff is only available to Cats & Dogs owners is another story and feels manipulative. It's selling a sizable chunk of its content to certain customers and potentially shafting others, whereas Jungle Adventures has plenty for everyone to dive into regardless of what you own. As I briefly mentioned in the video, I'd be happier if the DLC was _only_ for Cats & Dogs owners, since that way there is no splitting of the player base and making non-owners of the expansion feel pressured to buy another $40 pack to access everything they bought. I'd be down for, say, a pack of large new districts for City Living. _Provided_ that it's clearly and primarily meant for City Living owners and isn't locking away a big chunk of its content while providing something smaller to tease everyone else (ie, hamsters.) I apologize if there was any confusion as I don't want to come off as inconsistent. But well, I have inconsistent ideas about The Sims 4 as you might imagine. Communicating ideas consistently is tough when you're talking about subjective opinions on separate context-sensitive packs, since my point of view changes with each pack. What I thought about something in the past can very easily change in the future!

I love how some of these reviewers are afraid of giving their honest opinion, because if they do EA will stop giving them review codes like they did to LGR. It’s a completely different experience when you have to pay for this game yourself, and see how ridiculous the cost is.

Game changers are ridiculous, they get excited over the littlest things (that should be base game to begin with) and make it look like nothing's changed, or it's okay because it's Sims. Sim content is their livelihood. But honesty is crucial when the games and packs have veered off this much from the original concept. To me, Sims isn't Sims anymore. Sims 4 = Nothing but a Cashgrab.

It's true. They did. They also ate the pet food. I had the toddlers sleep in pet beds and eat pet food so their parents didn't have to put them in and out of the crib and waste time feeding them. Total parental neglect but the kids were fine!

This was the Stuff pack that made me quit Sims 4. I installed Sims 3 and OMG am I blown away by the number of things I can do. Ambitions and Late Night EPs are massive! I also went adventuring in France and I loved it. Wine Making!! I just realized how shallow the Sims 4 is.

I just started playing TS3 again too! In the past 3 days my sim created a dystopian future, met a unicorn, made two 5 star beach resorts, and became a 3 star celebrity. Soon I'm gonna make her an alchemist witch. There's just SO MUCH MORE you can do in TS3 and it was executed waaaaay better, it's actually fun. I've found TS4 expansions to kind of have some fun in it for maybe 2 days, but then there's nothing else that grabs me to KEEP playing it. TS4 has been such a letdown, and that's pretty upsetting.

I feel like you were the only one speaking on this BEFORE things got to THIS point. They had been watering down their game elements & expansion packs since its release date. But there had been SO MANY people hyping Sims 4 that it went under the radar until this stuff pack came out. It sucks that people are NOW just realizing how money-grabby EA has gotten with Sims 4, but I’m glad people are seeing it now. Sims 3 had high prices for their expansion & stuff packs, but at least they were FULL of content with little to none left out all together (instead of being spread of into other stuff packs/game packs for money). I will always prefer Sims 3 anyday. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I know this comment is five years old but honestly I would have loved to see snakes, lizards, birds, and turtles as part of smaller stuff pack, or even a kit. Unless if they specifically make something for reptiles and birds that goes all the way into herpetology and ornithology-style breeding and showing and stuff like that, or maybe includes a whole new animal shelter or pet shop that also happens to have cross-pack compatibility with CAD and MFPS (as in, like, the ability to see dogs and cats be adoptable, not a whole "you have to own these packs"), then I don't think I could justify it as a game pack. As for horses, I think Cottage Living would have been a great place to add them, and fairies.' In short, you're absolutely right and I am also frustrated with EA.

It is mainly EA being greedy but partly to do with impatient simmers. People were demanding pets, causing EA to put pressure on the development team, resulting in a rushed product with left out items. I’m worried that this will happen to seasons because players won’t shut up about it. EA is money hungry and they have no problem rushing a product that could have been a lot better. If we would just wait and not make a fuss we might get better, more fleshed out expansions and packs.

tbh if you comprare business practices each world offered at least 2 new game mechanics a bundle of clothes and a bunch of Build Mode and CaW objects besides an entirely new massive worldspace with some which was massive themed around something but the biggest plus is that you totally could modify the entirety of it, you could create the burbs, the shady part of town, the high-rise the downtown etc, it was fucking epic tbh, because you had the ability to make apartments in every world once you had the appropriate expansion.

What EA desperately needs, is some strong competition in the life simulator market. City Skylines effectively showed that beating EA at their own game is not only possible, but very profitable. I’m just hoping we see another game developer take the risk. EDIT: also WHY THE FUCK are there so many clothing items for your pets? Who the heck is putting a sushi costume on their cat? Does EA seriously think a few animal costumes makes up for uninspired pet gameplay?

A literal couple of 3d artists and someone familiar enough with the engine to put the models and animations together. No design documents or intensive engine work required. 1) I love your Sims 1 reference when talking about the rodent disease! 2) You pretty much stole the words out of my mouth with this. It's the worst knowing that there's people (like myself and many others) that will definitely buy it to have it and how EA exploits that fact. Over the years I've watched MANY game companies slither DLC into their games, EA being a big one, and it's just really sad (but unfortunately not surprising) that they've gotten the Sims team as well. This most definitely should have been included in Cats and Dogs and makes it quite transparent that EA is definitely in it for the money tenfolds.

I had this thought process too. A lot of people would wait for LGR reviews because instead of "oh! A cute coffee table! Love love love!" he actually reviews with a "worth the cost" methodology, and when he was getting early access everyone could see the value before wasting money on mediocre stuff.

Sims 3 Pets: cats, dogs, horses, lizards, turtles, snakes, birds, deer, raccoons (none of which are confined to a terrarium and can be caught in the wild) Sims 4: dogs and cats. For $40. Then rodents that don’t do anything and the rest of the stuff they didn’t give you before, for another $10. It’s a trap.

It should have all been released in the cats and dogs expansion, called it Pets, and had all types of pets. Cats, dogs, snakes, ferrets, rats, hamsters, and hedgehogs, or whatever others may consider pets. I wouldn't mind having a couple of chickens or ducks. Maybe they'll come out with a farming expansion at some point, giving us a country town and include those. But I agree, that a lot of the things in this stuff pack should have been in the cats and dogs expansion.

This pack should have focused entirely on rodent pets. Where are the Mice and Gerbils? More cages, both in type and sizes, and some larger rodents like Chinchillas and maybe even a Cappybara as a dog/cat sized Pet. They could have done other pet packs, too, like a Reptiles pet pack, a Fish pet pack, and so on, and any clothing and decorations could be related to the type of pet. These kinds of focus might have justified the price tag.

I completely agree with you LGR. Personally, I think that EA should have gotten rid of stuff packs altogether when they created game packs, which have much more gameplay value. The stuff packs in my opinion are EA's version of microtransactions for The Sims franchise now. Btw, I love how you still find new, creative ways to incorporate Ralph into these reviews. He's a great metaphor for this downward spiral EA is intentionally putting The Sims through. I actually feel bad for Ralph at the end of your stuff pack reviews and that's saying a lot.

This is the current state of EA. All they had to do was literally improve apon Sims 3. The thing is Sims 4 was in development but the whole Sim City debacle pretty much killed it as it was centered around online play. I hope, but doubt that Sims 5 will be as good as 3

I lost faith in the sims series. while the Sims 4 has gorgeous graphics and multi tasking it's still an unfinished game. they took out so many things in the base game and the gameplay is so boring. if I had the money for a better computer I would move to the Sims 3 again. it might have been buggy but overall it was better than the Sims 4 and you had so many new things to do in the expansion packs.

I can see it now. They'll release a seasons expansion pack, but if you want any of the fun stuff to go with it, you'll need a stuff pack for each season. The Sims 4 - Seasons, be sure to pick up spring stuff, summer stuff, fall stuff, and winter stuff. Then they'll add in a seasonal festival stuff pack just for added salt in the wound.

Its a shame the Sims community are a punch of sheep and will buy anything EA throws at them regardless of the shady practices they perform. I love this franchise but I never want to touch 4. It has greed written all over it and while the Sims 3 had its fair share of problems, it was still a Sims game deep down. This isn't. This is just some greedy cash grab with a Sims skin slapped on it. While the look of the game is good, the positives end there. EA's business practices for this franchise have been abysmal. Sad thing is, they'll still get money because most of the Sims community are a bunch of blind idiots who will throw money at whatever they pump out. (i.e a laundry stuff pack? Really?)

Actually, NO ONE asked for a laundry stuff pack. People originally voted for an Eco Living stuff pack that would have included things like solar panels etc. but "somehow" we ended up with a laundry stuff pack. Although, I am happy that laundry is in a stuff pack as it gives me the option of whether I want it in my game or not. If it had been part of an expansion pack or free update, I would have had to get it whether I wanted it or not.
