His 2022 F2 results were pretty mid when that decision was made. But to his credit, it seemed to light a fire under his ass cause he finished out the F2 season really strong (too little too late) and looking back wouldve been a better option than DeVries or their first option Colton Herta

With how Nick's stint in F1 went, getting points in a Williams with his first crack to getting kicked halfway through the season at AT. I think it's better to be more reserved with genuine expectations if he would get a contract. Although Lawson's P11 and P13 with that shit box is very impressive. I feel for Perez but he has been getting absolutely smashed, seeing Ric there would be cool for old times sake but I don't think we will ever see prime honey badger again, unfortunately. As for Yuki, it would be fair if he got the crack at RB, or if other teams would be interested in him, not sure how much fun he's having in that AT.

Sargeant, Zhou and Tsunoda are definitely less talented than the available pool of drivers, but they have the perfect nationality which the teams/Liberty Media need to cater to. Perez is also a mixed bag, yes he's not bad, but Red Bull definitely has better options, and he is still there due to the huge Carlos Slim backing and for catering to the South American public. So, yes, there are many who are essentially pay/popular drivers, or, better said, drivers who are there due to something else beyond his driving/setup/ car developing skills. I'm not convinced it makes sense to keep Daniel in the alpha seat next year. I think pairing Liam and Yuki there gives them a mix of experience and fresh talent and let's Liam develop. If Sergio doesn't score podiums in most of the remaining races, I think it would make sense to buy out his contract. It seems worth putting Daniel in the car. If Perez performs, Daniel goes back to reserve driver and marketing duties, and takes the seat in 25.

What I think should happen is, Yuki taking Checo’s seat, and Lawson / Ricciardo in the AT. People may say Yuki isn’t ready but he’s progressing very well and still one of the youngest drivers on the grid. It may take a bit of time for him to settle in but maybe RB can still afford to take that risk. I think he could be as good as Checo at least and Yuki has upside unlike Checo. I don't see that happening. Yuki is a decent driver for F1 standards but Checo has wins under his belt plus has a marketing campaign behind him. Mexicans and Latin Americans are big fans of his so Red Bull can monetize off Checo. Yuki on the other hand, as good of a driver he is, I don't think he has the marketability that Checo or Daniel Ricciardo has. If it were up to me, I'd put Daniel and Liam in the Alpha Tauris for 2024 and see who is worth the Red Bull seat between Checo/Ricciardo/Liam.

As long as Checo delivers that P2 in the championship he will remain another year. But if the season unfolds in the same way next year he might look to leave before ever being dropped. As for Liam he should be in the Alpha Tauri next year no matter who his team mate is. If Lawson is able to finish ahead of Yuki on merit and bag some points and Ricciardo does the same on his return it could be Yuki on the way out. I suspect that Ricciardo won't be doing anything special on his return though.. Which would be a tough position for Red Bull if the performance wasn't there.

Consider how he’s been in F1 for five years now. No wins, 1 pole position, and less than ten podiums so far. And he’s already credited with being on the same level as Max, George, Lewis, Fernando, Charles etc. I believe he’s a very good driver and maybe he can be a champion. But I wonder if people were/are too quick to rush to calling him a championship calibre driver earlier than they should’ve? Instead of waiting till after he’d won a race for example. Solution to the problem: Keep Checo for a year 24. Let Daniel drive the remainder of the 23seson. Then for 24 let Liam Lawson and Yoki Tsunoda will drive for the RB seat. Daniel R must do something remarkable to get the seat .I can not see Daniel R have a future in F1. As for Lando Norris. He is good but not remarkable like Oscar Piastri and I think Liam Lawson. I would not be surprised to see Liam Lawson in the Red Bull alongside Max .

I wonder if we could see a Yuki and Iwasa in Aston Martin in the future and if Liam will get the AT seat if Lance quits the sport (like some publications are reporting) and if Yuki could be the one who replaces him with Iwasa being the test driver getting some fp1 outings and the seat along Iwasa when Alonso retires or gets tired of finishing best of the rest behind the top 3 teams in P7/P8. I would love to see a Lawson and Ricciardo lineup for 2024/2025 or a Lawson and Hauger/ Iwasa lineup if Alonso finds the pace and wins a lot in the next year or two.

Lawson beat Albon when competing in DTM (2021) in equal machinery so I would rate him quite high , so he deserves a seat in Alpha Tauri next. Tsunoda is finally worthy of a F1 seat but doesn't look to be ready for the 2nd Red Bull seat and staying at Alpha Tauri looks to be a career dead end so he should be looking elswhere. Ricciardo is to good for Alpha Tauri but is he a better fit as 2nd Driver at Red Bull as Perez ?

If Red Bull is to be rusted, then the "new" AT team will be on par with RBR, then they will need a top-class driver for both teams. It's still possible for RBR to buy out Perez's final year on his contract and place a new driver there. Liam fits that spot. Young and talented and can learn behind Max. Riicrdo's experience will work well with Yuki. Perez to Williams, a team on the rise again. However, none of this will happen.

Agreed. I had a feeling this would happen which is bad for Ricciardo of course. Liam will be challenged a lot more now that there’s been a week break, time for his thoughts to possibly mess with him and realizing the amount of attention and pressure you receive, all before one of the toughest physical tracks of the season in Singapore. Daniel with even more time to possibly get his head scrambled and have his confidence shaken could result in him making errors or overdriving when he gets back. If they both do well, I have no idea what the RB fam are gonna decide. Guess Yuki has to drive to make sure his seat his protected too. It sucks because we all want the 3 of them to do well.

Saying that RB has crafted a car that "suits max's driving style" just displays lack of racing knowledge. Good drivers have great instincts that makes them fast, but great drivers are able to adapt to the car, making them fast in every situation. RB development team is wise enough to recognize this and listen to max's feedback, knowing damn well that if the driver can handle such levels of grip in the front end of the car there is a lot of lap time available that others are simply not exploiting.

It's not that the RB19 is built around Max's driving style according to Newey. He says that he builds the car to go as fast as it can, it's just the fact Max has the ability to adapt his driving style to maximize the performance of the car. I'm tired of hearing people say that the car is built around Max. Newey also said their are only a few drivers that are capable of adapting there driving style to different cars, he named Max and Alonso as a couple of those kind of drivers. Look at the trouble Daniel had in the mclaren, he even admitted he just couldn't adapt to the car, lewis is another driver who just couldn't adapt very quickly to the new direction mercedes went last year, russell had a lot less difficulty and out performed lewis. Does that mean he is a better driver, probably not but he just found it easier to adapt his style to the car.
