Well spotted, I didn't pick up on that. Further evidence, Liam does sometimes call Marisha by her last name. e.g. talks machina for c2e33 kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2XKn56Kl8qJkJo Liam says "I'm getting the finger from Ray off camera" while talking about something Beau did. (In the next CR episode *after* this one shot, spoiler alert.) And I hadn't really gotten the physical descriptions into my head while watching, but yeah that's pretty clear now that I read them. I think a later talks included explicit confirmation that those 3 were the missing regular cast, and mentioning that the players didn't pick up on it.

I love how eager and willing the regular cast always is to help guests (and Ashley, who's gone for so long that she forgets how her character works). As soon as it's Erica's turn to do something, Sam and Laura both lean in to look at her sheet and help her work everything out correctly. I'm a fan of DMs and players being hard on each other when they're seasoned (like in Taliesin's campaign when they massively fucked up by breaking a mirror and Tal didn't even acknowledge the causality until the end, and how Matt and Taliesin both acknowledged in the normal campaign that Tal chose Blood Maledict before realizing how low Molly's health was, and he couldn't take it back), but it's always helpful for new players (I say this from experience) when the DM and more experienced players help out newbies, and are patient with them. If I hadn't played my first D&D game with friends who were understanding and patient, I might well have lost interest in the game.

@@joelstepp832 - damage at 0 HP doesn't matter how much damage it is. 2 punches would be equally deadly: auto-crit if they hit, each causing 2 failed death saves. I think what he was expecting was that if the gamble failed and he knocked himself unconscious, the boss would attack someone else, and Molly would get taken prisoner or something as a worst case. (He had a periapt of wound closure so he wouldn't bleed out without help or interference). It was unexpected for Lorenzo to be that vicious and use his 2 attacks to execute Molly.

I am not a seasoned player. I've only played a little and I am now starting to DM. But before we started my campaign as DM, I was a player with the same group of people. But because I watch Critical Role, and really read about classes and abilities, I knew more about my party's characters than they did. So I would give suggestions as we played which they, and my DM appreciated. And now that I know their weaknesses, as we are one session in to my campaign as DM, I know who needs what kind of help. Helping them be better players is so much fun.
