Lian Li PC-A70F Full Tower Case Review

When talking about high quality case construction, the name of Lian Li will invariably come up at some point in the conversation. The only problem was that Lian Li also used to also be synonymous with high prices and products that were next to impossible to find. Well, times have changed and while Lian Li's quality is still top notch, their cases are easier than ever to find and the pricing on some models has decreased to a reasonable point. No case better symbolizes this new mantra than the PC-A70F; a full tower case which retails for the surprising price of just $199.

@I3FX There's a dent in the case on this video. I'd never buy the ATCS though, for the same reason I don't buy Lian Li. I'd get Corsair Obsidian, maybe Sliverstone FT02. I have the CM Storm Enforcer, has a gaming look, better cable management, black interior, much better airflow, all for $60. I wonder...

@TheIrredeemable This video showed an apparent problem with air-flow. I don't see that as overall practicality. If I had the money maybe I'd buy Lian Li for how light the cases are, but I'm looking at the darn case a lot every day and have to see it every time I wake up every morning, I want it to look nice and look like something other than a box. I got past those days when I started building my own computers...

@TheIrredeemable I'm 18, I have a $15 an hour job, what do you expect? It's a Volvo, which drive forever, so it wasn't a waste of my money on something like say, a Ford. Either way, only bad part of my computer is the case, at least to you. The rest is so awesome, render 15 minute 1080p videos in 5 minutes. Yes please.

@doomtomb3 I said nearly, and it was the CM Storm Enforcer, got it for $60. Black, looks cool, 200mm fans, water cooling options if I so desire. Basically an exact copy of Mr. HAF 912 but a lot better.

you can buy a top panel for this case wich enables you to have a triple rad with fans on the top. Hard to find though.

@TheIrredeemable A proper case does not cost $400 and look like a box. What do you do to your cases then, anyway? Any case I've ever bought for $40 has lasted forever. Sure I buy new ones cause I want a new look, but none have ever just stated falling apart. You gotta stop buying from that random shop in the depths of your down-town, look for real companies.

@TheIrredeemable Actually, my CM Storm Enforcer has the most beautiful interior I have ever seen in any case. And it only cost me $60 (on sale!) Not only that, but I like the looks of it. I'm sure you're one of those people who hate it, which is fine, but to say the interior doesn't work just shows you're butthurt. Once again, $400 for a box? Sorry, I'll spend it on a graphics card, that actually DOES something for my performance.

@herrkelc I assume you are mainly referring to the Obsidian. Yes, it is a GREAT case, but, with the price tag to match it. In terms of pricing, Corsair still has work to do...

@TheIrredeemable You hit the nail on the head. A lot of chassis manufacturers are going the "me too" route, instead of the individual/high-quality path. Lian_Li and Corsair continue to provide us discerning enthusiasts with better options every year.

Tbh when Lian Li released this case in 2009 it was good and imo for when it was released it was dynamite. Imo the interesting case atm is the PC-P80N or the PC-Z70.

Right after he says "very tough" at 0:43 you can see a dent and some ripples on the side cover. Unless you go to lan parties, who cares how light your case is. Give me steel any day, even if aluminium was the same price.

@mario11168 Understand that subtle modern simplicity is Lian Li's biggest attraction. CoolerMaster has the militant GI-JOE effect going for it, which is nice for showoffs, but I much prefer the elegant, all steel/aluminum "boxes". They do a much better job of assuring a sophisticated mystique and are worth every penny.

Corsair quality cases? they are plastic pieces of shit - go look at a silverstone or a lian li - full tower aluminium cases. Best watercooling? again look at the silverstone tj07 or tj11 best tooless design? on the 800d its fucking shit. best cable management? meh you can have that one stylish? tj07 is the best looking case out there

@mario11168 Agree! Only thing good with Lian Li is the aluminum construction, rest is just rubbish, their cases look in general cheap and very flimsy. When I look at this case my eyes are bleeding. I have a corsair Obisidan 800D and It looks beautiful and have excellent cable management capabilities.

as a 10 year owner of Lian Li case, I can confirm it. Never ever I buy such shit, and actualy switching it to Sleeper-type case build, white old school case. I never liked it actualy, but didnt have money/energy to solve it last 10 years, as i was also on notebook much time.

Mmmh so no USB3 ports at the front, no feet included as standard, no SSD support, no good at aircooling nor at watercooling (without mods) either... no good cable management... so apart from the aluminum and style, this case is just a big and expensive tool-lees hardware cooking device :) (and i usually like Lian Li cases...)
