Can't believe 30 years later America has regressed...this video is still so relevant in 2020, and it's a sad reality that victim mentality is still rampant

Truly insightful talk by Williams. I wonder if African American studies departments in universities include him in the curriculum.

This is an excellent video with REAL talk. But people with a victim-mentality won't like his truthful message.

@Scottit well, at first I thought that your answers about black academic plight didn't have sufficient causes to explain why they exist, so I provided them. I also thought that your main point was that the main disparity in black and white achievement lies in innate differences, which I see now might not be your premise. sorry about that

Culture has a lot do with why certAIN groups have higher incomes than other groups, but even though everyone has been discriminated against in this country, NOT every one has the same social experiences. Black americans didn't have the same experiences of social discrimination as Jewish americans or asian americans because these two groups were not as heavily impacted by legal discrimination(jim crow) as black people and tended lived in areas where jim crow segregation was not permitted

@Aurini You're not getting the point. Why don't you try answering the question? "Why are Kenyans much better long distance runners than other Africans or African-Americans? Why are Ashkenazi Jews on average much smarter than other Jews?"

i live in Detroit and before the factory's started to close-down in the 50s this was on of the riches and educated areas in America it made blacks dream of living just as good or even better than any race of migrants before 1940s there was not enough immigrants in America to compare our plight to We are the only race that as never fought or oppressor to earn its respect and until other races respect you you are treated like some-kind of ungodly thing ask the Chinese Koreans Europeans Arabs Jews

Walter Williams is great! I like his individualist, freedom speeches... Statism / Collectivism (The idea that one group is more important than others) is the root cause to all problems. Racism is impossible under a individualist society, because when you see and treat people as individuals, it is impossible to be racist.

@deadfresh10 Good points on parenting, culture, neighborhood influences & such. Eliminating the Dept of Ed & increasing vouchers/private school choice will help. Kinda off the specific topic though. Not sure what you mean about geniuses who couldn't behave & broke the law. (Never heard of those guys you mentioned.) People are responsible for their actions, even w/high IQs & w/out pursuing more education.
@deadfresh10
@deadfresh10 13 жыл бұрын
@Scottit You're grossly ignoring the lack of strong parenting and blind approaches to public schooling. The reason for the former is because many urban youth decide to "play the block" and take their chances in the drug market or in gangs, resulting in masses of people either dead or incarcerated, leaving their children behind. and the impressionable others who don't get heavily influenced by the culture shaped by those who do. And the reason for the latter is because the government concertedly

@EGarrett01 Your Jewish point was addressed (you alternated from race to belief system). Why is my explanation of your "Kenyan" example wrong? Base upon that, for any nation that wins an Olympic title (only 1 to a few people; not the avg), then that means ____ What does that mean? If you disagree w/facts & concepts presented, you need to have logic. Just saying wrong or not, or reverting to insults, does not cut it. Hint: restate a proposition, then provide data & reasoning to your conclusion.
@EGarrett01
@EGarrett01 13 жыл бұрын
@Aurini We're almost there. Look at the second one again, it's not West Africans, it's KENYANS specifically, who are far better than other Africans, African-Americans, and the world in general at distance running. Why?

Many japanese and chinese americans who are over here in theUS now came after the immigration act of 1965 have passed and many of them immigrated to the united states after the 1980's and had higher incomes. So not all of them are for the same pool of japanese and chinese immigrants who came in the late 1800's early 1900's.Plus, the asian population as a whole still has a higher poverty rate than whites.

@Scottit trying to revive these neighborhoods, but obviously without proper understanding(e.g. No Child Left Behind). The issues of schooling go much deeper than innate scholastic ineptitude, because guys like Melvin Williams or Iceberg Slim, both with IQs at genius level, should have went to Ivy League colleges instead of prisons, but they didn't. These issues remain because administrators aren't allowed to run their schools appropriately, but instead adhere to a federally mandated curriculum.

@EGarrett01 What "either example" are you referring to? What do mass murders have to do w/point here? I thought the discussion here was about genetic difs & results in the marketplace [of the US]. What other videos? What "ignorant ideas" of mine? If so, should be easy for you to debunk w/facts. Please enlighten & educate me. You had no counters nor even addressed any items of my past comments.
@Scottit
@Scottit 13 жыл бұрын
@EGarrett01 I addressed difs "between" racial groups. You addressed "within." Your examples are narrow & easily be attributed to other factors; did not have any race-average comparison. Sorry, what 2 questions of yours should I elaborate on? It should be obvious that race-coordination differences exist, based upon the NBA & NFL rosters, as W.Williams explained. Please answer my previous ?s, plus offer evidence to refute the facts that I put forth, rather than name-calling & labeling.

@EGarrett01 You partially answered your own questions, regardless of looking at sub-groups. It seems that you neglected a time dif. There are also cultural & spiritual impacts that affect results. Regardless, little difs like those are negligible. Answer this: If Africans have same genetic ability/intelligence, why are African nations more than a century behind. Don't get wrong; I'm not advocating racism, looking down on people nor any of sort, but there are difs in each person's background.

@louiethegreater Huh? Did not address anything I typed. Generalizing about Asians? Racist? What about motivation? What does lack of Asian employment (where?) have to do w/topic? I typed about 5 highly developed Asian nations. Persons in the others are intelligent, but are stunted by statist rulers & a bad econ system. Maybe: thoroughly read & try to comprehend, before trying to address any content. Living min.wage, where? Income dependent on productivity. Can't expect a HS dropout to support 3

@louiethegreater Society structured by IQ? How's that? (I was in Mensa, but no impact on anything.) How? & impression from Dr. Williams explaining things? Do you want low IQ doctors, police or others w/big roles? On avg, higher IQ have more achievements success. Wrong, surprising or unfair? Although, happiness has non-monetary aspects, ie social, but many highly IQ are

@EGarrett01 For Jews: Your assertion could be true (unsure, but who cares). The difs in productive results can be attributed to cultural/belief values. You missed the point about genetics. What various races (not nationalities or religions) make-up each Jewish group? Reiterating: there are many difs (brain, behavior, physical, etc.) among genetics origin (& culture). However, that is certainly not a reason to discriminate on averages. An employer usually treats each applicant individually.
@EGarrett01

@Scottit Kenya argument is wrong. That's not why. You didn't even bother to try to answer the Jewish one. You don't know what you're talking about.
@Scottit
@Scottit 13 жыл бұрын
@EGarrett01 You are looking at a specific point; irrelevant. There are many varieties of results among races. Specifically your questions: Kenya gov pushed & paid for athletes. Different Jews have dif --irrelevant, whatever. The issue is race, not belief. But systems can motivate people to excel. That is very important. Dif sub-species (races, groups) variy in genetics & aptitude. So what?

@Scottit the funny thing is...you could've looked up either example and within 30 seconds known exactly what I was talking. The fact that you haven't ever looked it up and didn't do so even when it was asked directly of you shows me exactly why you hold the points of view you hold. Considering that people have been mass murdered over racial fallacies, it's very irresponsible of you to go in these videos and spread the ignorant ideas that you do.

@louiethegreater Would you rather make .58 cents an hour or nothing at all? If there making any money at all there obviously there by choice. There making .58 cents an hour because it makes the product cheaper. If you buy a product made by someone getting paid .58 sents an hour do you expect it to last? No youl buy from the person making $25 an hour because itl be better craftsmanship. If they choose to work to better themselves let them, you dont ahve to save people from their choices..

@Scottit The discussion here is about "innate racial differences" that you claimed existed. I'm telling you they don't exist, and to make my point, I'm giving you two examples of differences WITHIN racial groups and asking you why those differences are there. You haven't investigated these things and you don't know what you're talking about. You're just spreading dangerous ignorance. Why don't you try actually answering the two questions?
@Scottit
@Scottit 13 жыл бұрын
@EGarrett01 You say no innate racial difs? Oh yeah, Africa is doing so well -- behind even 5 centuries ago. The advances since, due to Europe, especially South Africa. Although not certainly a reason to be racist. Black physical & coordination advantage? Look at pro-sports (except for hockey, which is Canadian dominated). Racism in pro-sports hiring? Get affirmative action there, have many more whites? Too many millionaire Black athletes?

SMH. RACISM at its core is an ideology regardless of if you have "power" or not. And it's not about choosing your initial background or circumstances. No one gets to do that. The point is that people from West indies are just as black biologically and come here to the United States and thrive economically because there are not as many mental barriers. Plus, we're talking about the discrimination part of it, which means whether the black person would be discriminated against regardless of the background...
