Edward - thanks very much! As I grow older I find myself observing a similar thing about a lot of players - their playing mimmicks their character. Sometimes it's less obvious of course, but hopefully in our good moments this comes through, which is a good thing because it means more of the players subconscious is being accessed....which is what we want - the real person....anyway I very mush appreciate your kind words!

Great job Simon, you’ve hit the trifecta: player, builder, and teacher! I don’t think anybody else can do all three so well :) Really impressive to go thru inversions and voiceleading that extensively and succinctly in a way that can be practically applied right away!

Along with the playing the intonation is superb, so difficult to grab these shapes all over the neck and not bend out of tune. So many aspects of mastery on display. And thank you for access to the best sounding devices ever made, worth every penny!

Goodness gracious the playing, musicality, and tone are absolutely mesmerising. Thanks for the lesson and genius. It would be good to know which of your pedals you were using in this one. Your strat tones are some of the best I have heard in a very long time.

Wonderful video! Really keen to try the Super Switch wiring, makes so much sense to me, always having struggled with getting the amp settings to work across all the pickup combination selections. Is there a schematic online of this wiring (no tone controls on middle 3 positions, and 1 tone each for the bridge and neck positions)?

DOH! in the description :)

Beautiful playing man... so, do you have the same tone pot connected to both the neck and bridge? I am interested in doing this where I have that second tone pot connected to the bridge for the old "set it and forget it" bridge tone. I am wonder if I can follow that diagram you posted for no tone in position 2,3, and 4 but with the use of two separate tone pots.. one for the neck and the other for the bridge. Thanks for the info in advance!!
@PPIMV2 жыл бұрын
Sure, that's possible. I think you'll need a super switch to do it...

Like dan steinhardt said: if there were one player i could play most like…hey simon-are u using that ox box behind you? If so are u using any of the effects or just using it to get your amp into that daw and using your pedals for effects?
@PPIMV2 жыл бұрын
The Ox box is actually not being used - I am miking with a Sure SM57 on one amp and a Royer R121 on the other amp. No effects or EQ added after the fact - all effects from pedals.

@@PPIMV i see i just got one and am trying to find its sweet spots…as good as it is, it still sounds processed. But u can dial it in with patience…
@OneMomentFromForever2 жыл бұрын
Great tip. Is it fair to say having both a neck and middle tone in a normal wiring scheme loads down position 4 more than 1 tone on the neck (ie two pots in parallel). Would that sound different to having the neck and middle share a tone control? I lower my middle down all the way, I don’t use it on its own and that makes it a hair brighter I struggled to get the position 2 sound I wanted so I swapped the wires on the switch, now position 2 is bridge and neck Tele sound (and position 3 is the neck but you get use to it)
@PPIMV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, two tones will be a touch darker than one tone...which is a touch darker than no tone control of course. The Tele mod is a nice one too of course...can get this and the no tone in positions 2 and 4 with a super switch...
@bluebirdamplification30262 жыл бұрын
Lovely playing and great tips Simon👍. Really like the switching mods. One thing though, is it me or are both the diagrams you linked to the same? They look identical to me, or is a link issue?👍
@PPIMV2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure...thanks for tuning in! Regarding the links - the second one has a wire removed from pin 3 to in 5 of one of the poles (on the right). However, the description of which pickups have or don't have tone controls was not changed! Thanks for pointing that out...I'll edit it later when I get a chance.
