Lido Shuffle by Boz Scaggs, off his album, Silk Degrees which came out in 1976.
There’s a couple of things I’ve always liked about this song but, I’d have to say, it’s the first 12 bars that sets the hook every time I hear it - bass, drums, and a voice in their purist form. I’ll go out on a limb and say that it was probably played on a Fender Precision (with a pick) - a classic sound that’s so nice to hear all on its own every once and a while.
The bass was played by studio ace, David Hungate. He and a couple other fellows who played on this album, Jeff Porcaro and David Paich, would go on to form the core of the band Toto.
I'm playing the '76 Guild B-301 with the (near) Zero-Mod Thumb-Rest.
