Anthony Burger was the pianist. He was a prodigy, who had been burned seriously as a toddler, and never regained the feeling in his fingers. However, and obviously, it never kept him down when playing the piano was involved. He passed away in February 2006 while playing the piano on a Gaither homecoming cruise. I was blessed enough to meet him a couple of times, and he was a very sweet man, not to mention one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. Good job on the reaction. David is another remarkable talent, and I think even if they never did another thing worth remembering, this performance made by both David and Anthony will be one that will go down in history!

David Phelps, in my opinion, is the best singer I've ever heard, and, yes, he does "live" the words he's singing. Anthony Burger is the pianist who, sadly, passed away at the age of 54 of a heart attack. He was playing the piano while on a Gaither Alaskan Cruise. He's truly amazing because when he was young, his hands got burned severely, and he was told he would probably never play the piano, again. Thank God he persevere and became the best pianist ever! As for David, he's now 55 years old, but still sings as well, if not better, then he did back when this performance was recorded (20 years ago?). Two songs that i see many reactions to are: No More Night and Whitney Houston's song I Have Nothing. David sings it very close to Whitney's version, but adds just a few of his own changes. He was 52 when he recorded it. As a subscriber and fan of David Phelps, i thank you for listening to and reacting to his version of O Holy Night.

I love this him but David Phelps kiss one of the greatest performances of this ever!! His vocal control is beyond belief!! I love the audience in the background is the Gaither choir! It doesn’t get any better than this performance! So often we don’t get the second verse when it is sung! David has four children of his own two boys and two girls that have song with him as well! "O Holy Night" is David's favorite Christmas song, he sings it every night during his Christmas tour, he does have 3 different versions of it, but this one is the greatest performance of this song ever. It would benefit you to react to more David and GVB.

You have to look at his catalog of songs. He’s in his mid 50s and still going strong. He sings with his two daughters and his sister plays horns with the band.

I just stumbled on your channel and there were you and David Phelps and since he's my all-time favorite tenor I had to listen and watch. What an awesome reaction you did to David. I certainly hope we will see him again on your channel. His version of 'Mary Did You Know' from his ' Holiday celebration concert' is awesome! Totally different from this o holy night where he has so much power. Mary did you Know ' is just the opposite. Very soft and tender, definitely shows his control. Absolutely beautiful. Whitney Houston said David had one of the best male voices she ever heard. Quite a compliment. He actually sang her song I have nothing. David sang a song he wrote and sang with his daughter called Water. It's about the woman at the well. Unfortunately the piano player passed away. When he was a child he burned the his finger tips badly so it's a miracle he could even play the piano, especially as well as he played it.

The Gaithers started out earlier than the 80s as the Gaither Trio with Bill and Gloria and Bill's brother. This is from a Gaither homecoming which is a gathering of many of the legends of Southern Gospel music. It started with a few visiting in Bill and Gloria's home gathered around a piano and them videoing it. It grew to them traveling together, all over the world. Spreading the gospel of Christ through music. Many, including the pianist in this performance, are no longer with us.

Did a thing called homecoming which they took all the famous old-time and current gospel singers around two different parts of the country, and they all just sing different songs. That was their son. They had pets and they gave their vocal band and so many others. So all those people were actual singers themselves professional. I always loved how they would get choked up when they would hear David sing one of those songs

Another kid of history is built, and Gloria Gaither we the founders basically of the contemporary Christian music started back in the late 60s early 70s so many of the songs you probably didn’t even know that they wrote

That pianist suffered severe burns to his hands as a toddler. The doctors said that he wasn't expected to be able to use them. He started playing piano at a very early age and praised God every time he played. His name was Anthony Burger. He passed away while playing piano at one of the Gaither Homecoming shows, if I'm not mistaken, in Canada.

David is a great tenor. He was part of the Christian "Gaither Vocal Band" for many years, but he left the band in 2017 to concentrate on his solo career. You should also watch him singing "Water" with his daughter Maggie Beth Phelps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYHGmGCJd9iCpLs A wonderful performance. There are many great covers of O Holy Night, but I think this one is my favorite version. It's a spiritual experience. I'm glad that you also mentioned the pianist. Anthony Burger was an excellent piano player. Unfortunately he died at the age of 44 from a heart attack. Often times these days we hear a woman singer like 'When You Say Nothing At All's Alison Krause and say her voice is like that of an angel, BUT I have looked in the Holy Bible and found not one female angel's name, just names like Michael, Gabriel, indeed when you read the early books you see the Angels are quoted as saying, 'let us go down among men and take the daughters of men as wives', so, ARE there no female angels at all? If that is the case then none of the women, not Alison, or Lee Ann Womack (I Hope You Dance) actually have voices of angels. That said, if you picture David's conviction during this song you can easily see him leading a host of angels that appeared to the shepherds, Praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the Highest. On Earth Peace, Good Will to men.'
