Bill and Gloria Gaither have been doing Southern Gospel Concerts, Homecoming and songs since around the 80s. The Gaither Vocal band has a ton of hits and David was a member of the GVB for quite a few years. Let Freedom Ring after 9-11 is a must do reaction. No More Night is one of my favorites.

The pianist is Anthony Burger, one of the greatest piano players that the gospel music industry was blessed to have. He passed away on Feb. 22nd 2006. I'd say he's playing for Heavens Angel Choir now!

He did a cover of "I Have Nothing" at the age of 52, it is the best cover of that song ever. "The Dream" show cases his vocal range incredibly, as does "Just As I Am ", from Birmingham. The things he does with his voice is astonishing.

MRLBOYD, I grew up with Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Homecoming Group singing christian and southern gospel music. David Phelps is such a talented singer and a member of the Gaither Vocal Band. I was so blessed to have their music in my life even as a teenager (I'm in my 60's now). Bill and Gloria Gaither have written hundreds of amazing christian songs. They've won lots of Dove awards. I own so much of their music. You and your audience owe it to yourself to listen to more of their music. You will be blessed. If you need any suggestions I will be happy to give you some. Bill & Gloria are legends in the Gospel community, and they are famous for their "Gaither Homecoming" music concerts/events (and they also sing as well). David was the lead singer of the Gather Group, which is a group of men that sign gospel hymns. He's since moved on from that and has embarked on a solo career. The group has been around from many years and has had many different members over the years. And all of the adults that were on the stage during this performance are all well-established gospel singers in their own right. That is how you know it's a Gaither show - they fill the stage with singers, and each will take turns doing songs and sometimes they will do a group sing. David is an amazing vocalist, without a doubt.

Watching you experience the music for the first time as the Homecoming Friends and the music kicked in... Eyes opening wide, the shiver of goosebumps, and then that undeniable grin that every one of us get when we listen to Gaither music, especially sung by David Phelps. Glad we got to witness that emotion come over you. SIDE NOTE: Bill Gaither is usually seen, so I don't know where he is in this video, but his wife Gloria is the blonde at timeframe 6:22. Bill and Gloria Gaither live 12 minutes from me in Alexandria, Indiana. They had a Trio back in the 70's and 80's with Michael English. Bill then started the Gaither Vocal Band. He is a leader in the Southern Gospel Genre. He frequently hosts large gatherings of Southern Gospel groups and singers, Young and Old, calling them Gaither Home Coming Reunions. Each performance is an experience all to itself. Bill Gaither is responsible for discovering Grammy Award winner Sandi Patti.

David was classically trained. However, he decided he wanted to sing gospel music and have a ministry. So he trained himself to sing with a combination of the 2. Nobody does it like David Phelps. He has a new album out now called Songs and Stories 2. There is a video for every song on the album. Most are covers of classic songs like Dust in the Wind, I want to Know What Love Is, and I Hope You Dance. Others are original to him. He has 4 back up singers and a live orchestra. Two of the back up singers are his daughters! Each video from this album is amazing. Try it!

David had only just joined The Gaither Choir....He was a very shy man....if you notice after he finished singing he tried to walk back to the choir but was brought back to take his applause. I don't believe he has had classical training but was always singing in his church choir etc. also wrote many beautiful songs. I'll be back to see more of David and your wonderful Reactions sir.

He actually came to Australia with the 3 male members of The Gaither Choir....and performed at Sydney Opera House. he's also a very funny guy lol.

Yes, David did have classical training at Baylor University in Texas. His professors wanted him to make opera his profession but he felt called of the Lord to become a gospel singer. He is an exceptional songwriter, arranger and his lyrics are always excellent. He can do it all. He's sang on Broadway, at the Sidney Opera House in Australia, The White House for President and Mrs Bush and at Carnegie Hall after 9/11 with the Gaither Vocal Band. He's toured all over the world with Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band. He lives in Tennessee on an old dairy farm that he and his wife, Lori, and their 4 kids have redecorated. They've converted the over 100 year old barn into a concert hall that holds a couple of hundred people and several times a year host Barn Bashes. A Christmas Barn Bash is coming up very soon. He converted another building on his farm into his recording studio. He's a gifted carpenter, farmer and his wife says a great cook.

Bill and Gloria Gaither have had their own southern gospel quartet since at least the seventies which at one time David Phelps was a part before he went solo. They've discovered and helped start many gospel careers over the years. The 'choir' in the background includes them along with many other gospel musicians. Look up the Gaither gospel hour.

The Gaithers were on weekly with choir members singing a large number of songs written by both Bill and his wife Gloria. It all began when Bill decided to tape a gathering of friends singing for the joy of it and everyone wanted a copy of it. And so began the weekly the Gaithers program that sold millions for the Gaithers, the soloists and groups. We never missed a Saturday night.

His hands were severely burned as a child doctors didn’t think he would be able to use them but he loved the piano. Watch him play the hallelujah chorus on the piano…he has amazing speed and control. And he plays with heart you can tell he’s just worshiping God as he plays

That stage is showcasing an all star cast in the gospel world. Behind David was Mark Lowry, who sang with the Gaither Vocal Band for years. Mark wrote and sand Mary Did You Know. I'm not familliar with the pianist, other than to say every time I watch this video I see comments about his influence and talent...and it shows. The Gaithers have been super active and important in the gospel realm for decades, what a blessing they have been.
