I love your explanation of why you should give in to cravings :) It's amazing how a food can become an obsession if it becomes absolutely forbidden, and I suppose that could make bingeing more likely.

Thank you again for sharing! This is so useful for me. I’m working one day a week at an ED clinic and it’s so helpful to hear about these things from you so I can try and help the clinic’s residents! I’ve recommended you to a few of them as you talk about a lot of things that staff aren’t always able to share so easily as they lack that personal experience.

I feel like a weirdo :'( everyone in recovery talks about having cravings and going through extreme huger etc but I have the complete opposite problem. I don't get any cravings at all and I never experience hunger, I'm full and bloated after just a few bites of anything and remain uncomfortable all day. it's a huge struggle for me to eat enough just to maintain let alone gain.. I tried to introduce more fats but when ever I have anything high in fat I end up having to run to the toilet within 5 mins of eating it so then I tried things like dates and other dried fruit but it did the same but with additional tummy cramps and head ache for some reason. why is my body doing this?
@HanneArts7 жыл бұрын
I had the same initially, but more reliable hunger cues will return if you keep eating regularly/sufficiently. It's just that your body needs some time to get used to everything, which is why it is acting out a little bit now x

Hanne Arts I have been in recovery for over a year now though! Shouldn't it be getting better by now? I find it really hard to gain as I can't eat enough without being in horrendous pain 😢 I just wish I could eat more fats.. I could get calories in with nuts and seeds or even dried fruit but I end up on the toilet for hours 😢
@HanneArts7 жыл бұрын
It seems that even after this year you still find it hard to eat much, right? The only way to overcome this is by doing it anyway. It will be uncomfortable, yes, but if you keep going on these INCREASED portions then your body will get used to that after some time

Hey Hanne, my English ist not the best, but I wanted to say, that I really love your videos!!! And (don't know whether to say), but when I look into your "new" face, it really, really looks more healthy, more "livelovely"(?) - just good - when I compare it to older videos. Be proud of you and keep on your way (I hope you know what I mean)!!!

I was trying to recover by my own, but I end up binging for three or four weeks straight. Now I'm back to restricting and I hate myself a lot more, because I gained so much. I'm at healthy weight, 49kg with height of 161cm, but I feel so fat. I hate this. I think that I need help
@meghanb83197 жыл бұрын
If you think you need help, then seek help! I know it's hard not to restrict, but you're at a healthy weight and you don't want to ruin that. Trust me. I was perfectly healthy but then the anorexic monster took over and now I'm underweight. I have to eat a ton of food to recover and I get bloated. Believe me you don't want to get underweight because refeeding is soooo hard. Get help now so you won't regret it later! I know you can do it!

Hey Hanne thanks so much for everything. Your videos are being a great help during my recovery so, once again thank you! I have a question: you and other people say that even eating 3000 calories a day you don't gain weight. Im following a meal plan of 1600/1800 calories a day (obviously the calories will increase). I know that if someone eats a lot during recovery, they end up with a fast metabolism... i've never had a fast one and would like to achieve that! How come you don't gain at 3000? If i ate that much i would gain so much weight but at the same time i want a fast metabolism! is it true that your body adapts but before it does, there will be so much weight gain plus, if this concept were true there wouldn't be obese people in the world because their metabolism would adapt to their food intake.
@HanneArts7 жыл бұрын
If I would've eaten this much initially in my recovery, I would certainly have gained weight. However, over time my body has started to need more and more (I think it is trusting me again and simply took some time to get out of the initial starvation mode, where it required less kcal). But, yes, it is true. Initially I gained weight on much less, but by sticking with and further increasing my portions my metabolism has increased a lot. Regarding obesity, these people have not had restrictive eating disorders so this is not really applicable to them x

how long did you cravings last
@HanneArts6 жыл бұрын
Until I gave into them ;) (cravings are normal and you will crave certain things now and then. This is your body simply telling you it needs something that can be found in this food (whether this be carbs/fats/kcal/vitamins/etc.))
