Damn, these Mythic Ranked matches keep me at the edge of my seat. Don't get me wrong, I've been your fan ever since, and I religiously watch even the unranked matches. I just think that your deck building and piloting skills shine out the most when you match up against competent adversaries.

@@Legov7 thats why it works against koma, it does not counter the spell, it puts the spell back to hand. thats way worse than countering it. if it's cheap he can recast it this turn, if its expensive it will just land next turn and you will have to deal with it again. its also a shitty bounce because it costs 3 and does not work against tokens. then again it has learn and for some unfathomable reason somebody thought mascot exhibition was a good design idea

This is so very close to the deck I built for standard, but I'm more of a combo deck utilizing Vadrik and Expanded Anatomy to cast free lessons into a giant Crackle with Power. Sweet seeing your take on Izzet Burn.

The Epiphany matchup, it's just horrendous. Test of Talents is such a great card that needs to be played on every deck, good against Blood on the Snow too. Also, first game I had with it, I faced someone else playing it.. The game took 20 minutes. A pithing Needle on the Hall of Giants would be good too, also good against Planeswalkers. Nice deck either way, though TOO slow against aggro decks with good hands. Specially when not going first is a death sentence.

Besides the nonbo with Lier, the problem with Test of Talents is that it's very poor vs Monogreen and especially Monowhite. There's definitely a place for it given the popularity of Epiphany, but it still has its limitations.

It took me days to get wins against it, until I switched to Wolves, Night is the real deal! Now, I actually hope I get a Blue opponent.

@@LegenVD Lier is a must "kill on sight", if it sticks.. then you have a favorable chance at winning. That's not often the case. There is also the bounce Lier, Counter Spell strategy as needed.

Legend, I wonder why did you choose only 3 copies of Lier in your deck instead of 4? Taking into account that is your build-around card and once it hits the board, your main win condition.

3 is more than enough tbh, you just need to stall for it and don't rely on drawing it early. Having more card draw/removal is better.

It’s not a card you typically want in your opening hand. It shines once you already developed your mana and have a full graveyard. With all the card draw we can usually find a copy by the time we’re ready for it.

36:12 - I know you generally don't wanna tap out against Izzet Turns, but was there any consideration here to put Divide into hand and exile the Iteration to try again, since your opponent was only at 6 lands so it would be very unlikely for them to take enough turns to have lethal?

If we were playing with open decklists and we knew for a fact that they weren’t playing Goldspan for instance that would certainly be a reasonable play. But ladder is the wild west and anything can happen.

Because I see no one mentioning it, you can actually counter spells while Lier is in play…. Kinda. If you fading hope Lier or return her to the hand some other way before the counter resolves, the spell countered will be countered. Easy way to trick Epiphany players into thinking it’s safe to hard cast an Epiphany.

As much as I love liers effect, I find the "mascot exibition wincon" so boring. But props for not using epiphany. I feel like learn is such a tedious mechanic and it even nerfed my ravens warning deck. Seriously, they limited my side board to 7 with fae of wishes rotating out. There are like 3 cards that ppl learn, enviro sciences, mascot and teachings if they are blue.
