In the game against nine lives combo, questing beast also just bypasses the damage prevention lol. Questing beast, the story that never ends, just happens to be a great utility creature.

I started playing Magic only two weeks ago, having a blast, I'm glad I found a chill and enjoyable person that plays every kind of decks and It's always a good time. However I find MtG Arena not that good treating new players (can't get my starter decks because of a bug that lots of people have) hopefully one day I'll be able to craft a deck I'll enjoy (probably one version of yours, a mill deck maybe) and keep going with this experience. If you could get a questing beast with Vivian's ability against the Serra's Emissary wouldn't you be able to race? One of its thousand abilities is combat damage can't be prevented, is it not? I mean, it's probably a race we can't win, but it is theoretically posible

Yes, it does. but it seems more of a BO3 adjustment with side cards more than a main deck must have. This deck could be relatively competitive in BO3 with some instant/sorcery that kills flying creatures and graveyard hate (like scavenging ooze that also takes profit of +1/+1 synergies).

That doesn't work. Protection from creatures means the opponent can't even be targeted by creatures attacking him. Even if you "attack", nothing actually happens except for your creatures tapping.

Protection prevents damage from the protected type, prevents attaching things like auras or equipment of the protected type, can't be blocked by the protected type, and can't be targeted by spells or abilities of the protected type. Only the damage prevention would apply here, and beast bypasses damage prevention. Also, creatures don't target when they attack.

I don't think it's ban-worthy. Definitely good against combo decks without removal like this one, but in the context of the historic meta I don't think it warps the format around it. Decks like the one in the video just aren't built to beat that card, which is fine because the chances of running into that deck are pretty rare in historic. Powerful? yes. A mistake? I wouldn't say so.

At 39:30, you say you're not at risk of opponent reanimating something next turn, but Historic includes the 4-mana reanimation spells Refurbish (for their Platinum Angel) and the more likely Late to Dinner.

Evolution is too slow for Historic nowadays. Built a deck around it when it first released. Better with cards that enter with multiple counters as opposed to incremental counters.

So in match 8, if only SirChaos used Unholy Heat on Conclave Mentor after Vivien activation instead, they would have been able to wipe your board with Anger of the Gods a few turns later and then play Teferi to deal with Vivien instead of the 6/6 elf that got saved from Anger of the Gods due to the Unholy Heat premature cast earlier? Such subtle play but could end up with very different results.

So if you could somehow keep vivian alive long enough to get the questing beast, and a creature bigger than serra emissary could you not use the command to kill it? The spell is doing the targeting and the QB clause takes away the damage prevention from the fight right? Was not about to happen but in theory I'm curious
