Great video and advice. I had a heart attack a few months ago, 45 yo, fit and slim, so it was a shock. Had some days of depression. But 2 months now, I'm back feeling pretty great, almost the same as before. I found getting an indoor bike trainer really good - just easing back into it, being careful, day by day did a bit more. No matter what the doctors told me, hearing other peoples positive stories helped me the most. I've stopped eating sugary food and I've stop drinking any alcohol since.

I'm 45 as well, worked out everyday for 10months an hour or two. Doc told me last week he thought I have had a heart attack. You cut put sugary foods, what about the others?
@stephensegal5187
@stephensegal5187 5 ай бұрын
@phillyflyers7768 I of course cut out a lot of the sugar, but most importantly carbs as well, and I learned how to use protein WITH carbs to slow down the glucose spikes and make things run on a more even rate/number. It is insulin resistance that is the single largest problem in America, NOT cholesterol. That's because the root of the problem is inflammation caused by continuously high glucose numbers over time. A1C numbers and cholesterol numbers are not nearly as important as fasting Triglyceride number. You will likely need to specifically ask for FASTING triglyceride on your 90 day blood draws. Also, Metformin PROMOTES Insulin resistance, it is counterproductive towards you achieving your normal blood glucose once again. Use Berberine instead, the Chinese discovered it over 3,000 years ago. My event happened last August 19 where first I developed a clot at the saddle of my lung artery, then I had a heart attack and coded for 12 minutes. I started working and moving dynamically every day only 30 days after the event, and I swear to you that is what brought me the best healing was being as active as I could as early on as possible. I'm 58 in June. Your mind is your most powerful healing tool, it sure the hell isn't these Doctors and Their colored pills!

You guys hit the nail on the head with this video. Suffered a heart attack 2 hours before my flight departure from Schiphol to Dallas 13 months ago. Hit me like a bus. Thanks to alert airport staff, I was rushed to a nearby hospital where I was properly diagnosed and received a stent procedure. After 12 days under the care of the cardiology department, spent three weeks in a rehab and recovery center, then three weeks in a hotel waiting for clearance to fly home, all the while slowly rebuilding my stamina with exercise. Just visited my cardiologist last month for my yearly how-goes it. All is well, so he dropped one of the blood thinners and halved the statin dose. Even though I have a family history of heart disease on the male side of the family, I was very active. However, I smoked for a number of years when younger before quitting cold turkey in 2005. Both of these factors contributed to my event. If you smoke, quit. If you don't exercise, get up and move.

Great video! My mum had a “widowmaker” heart attack yesterday. 90% blockage in the LAD. Her symptoms were nausea, vomiting, sweating, pain (she said it was like someone was ripping her spine out through her back and kicking her in the chest at the same time). We live literally 3 minutes away from the closest hospital. Within 90 mins she was stabilised at the local hospital then transferred to the one one town over that has the equipment for the type she had. The dr who did her stents is only there Tuesdays so she was so blessed with having her there. Otherwise she would have been flown to Melbourne. Mums my best friend. I had to be strong while she was at home til the Paramedics left then I broke down. I’m still so scared of losing her. This video eased my mind a whole bunch!❤

This is wonderful information for anyone who has had a heart attack. Like most of the posters below, I'm relatively young (53), have exercised regularly for nearly 30 years, but have a genetic disposition for heart disease. I suffered 3 heart attacks on 10/18/23, two minor and one major, as a piece of plaque broke free and caused 100% blockage. These happened in a span of 49 minutes , from first to last and being in a cardiac unit in Chicago. The cardiologist put a Stent in, held me for three days, I ran on the treadmill for 7 minutes and did 50 push-ups non stop. He said my heart is beautiful, cannot find any damage and said if I went to another cardiologist and didn't say anything about having a heart attack, the new cardiologist would never know. I was released on a Friday, was changing semi truck tires on Saturday, worked at the shop until Wednesday and was back on the road as a long haul trucker by Friday. I throw chains, carry 150lb tarps on top of loads, and I feel great. Will I drop dead next week, next month, who knows but I completely changed my lifestyle, eating and exercise are my priorities and no, I am not a big obese slob of a truck driver. I am a former semi pro powerlifter, collegiate linebacker and played basketball and baseball through high school and into college.

My health definitely improved over the last two and a half years since my heart attack. I got the works: CABG, valve replacement, and pacemaker with defibrillator. I lost a ton of weight and walk daily. I have a lot of arthritis in my back which I thought caused pain over the years, but it turns out it was heart related. The pain never came back after surgery. My advice is to get that back pain checked out thoroughly!

Thank you so much for sharing your insight. I am a 42yr F, and just had a mid lad stent placed after an emergency room visit with shortness of breath and sudden ongoing dull pain in my upper chest and upper back. I thought it was pneumonia, or bronchitis, even cold, flu, or covid, but all tested negative. However my troponin levels were continuously rising while in the E.R. They ended up doing a cardiac cath and inserted a stent. The most noticeable thing since being discharged is the return of my energy. I've dealt with extreme fatigue for years and now it's gone.

There is seldom any change in our lifestyle habits without catharsis. Like they said, surviving the heart attack is the best thing that can happen to some people. It really opens up your eyes.... You know like when you were little and playing with your friends, and your mom said, "hey we will be leaving in 10 minutes", how you would play extra hard? Getting a serious heart attack is a bit like that. It is a bit like your mom saying there is only 10 minutes left... You get a bit sad, but you grab life by the balls and do what makes you happy.

I am 75 years old and just had a "widowmaker" heart attack 1 month ago. I thought I was in very good shape but for the last year I had quit aerobic exercise, put on 20 lbs and eating and sleeping habits were poor. But I do all the aerial work in my 2 man tree service so I thought that was enough. Went to work first thing in the morning in 30 degree weather moving 50 lb. mats across a yard for my spider lift. Went home to get something and went face down flat on the basement floor soaking wet with sweat and couldn't get up. Broke my nose. Couldn't breathe. Struggled up and wife got the Em. squad here. 20 min. ride to hospital maybe breaths 10 percent of normal. Had a stint installed after blockage was cleared that was accessed through my wrist. I have gone back to 35 minutes on the treadmill and 35 also on the Airdyne bike with 2 minutes out of each 5 standing on the pegs. On the treadmill I go at a decent clip and do 2 minutes out of every 5 with a decent incline. Feeling stronger but worried and a bit depressed. Oh, and I have already lost 15 pounds, eating better etc. Not clear on optimum diet tho and miss all my evil foods....

Cleaning up diet, have that crazy pill regiment going, and taking it easy until Cardio Rehab...doctors and nurses were excellent, but the biggest thing I am learning is that the more I KNOW the easier it is to feel better, mentally!!! and physically. Great video from our 3 favorite Docs! Terrific information on heart problems just about a week before Valentine's Day! ❣️ But good information for before and after an event! My oldest nephew had a heart attack about a year and a half ago at the age of 51. He ended up having open heart surgery and his life changed in a lot of ways. He still has hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes. He still struggles because of these things. He's made a lot of changes since the heart attack and still needs to keep doing so. It's not a quick fix but a lifetime of change. It's never easy to adjust after such trauma but it eventually becomes routine. Pay attention to what the professionals tell you and think about it as a new way of life! None of this is easy but there are a lot of people who can help you! Don't be afraid to reach out for help! These professionals are here to assist you and give you improvements for the rest of your life. I was one of the roughly 10% of folks that had negative side effects with the blood thinner Ticagrelor. After feeling like my old, active self I regressed and was short of breath just walking. It took two trips to emerg over the period of a week to figure out why I was not feeling well. And the stress of feeling unfit compounded the whole matter. I've been on Plavix ever since. Thankfully, I live a 3 minute car ride from you guys :-).

Hi Anya. For the benefit of your family member: I’m a 68 man and had a heart attack 4 months ago - five days before Xmas. Everyone was blown away as I appeared (outwardly!) the healthiest and fittest of all my friends and acquaintances. First two weeks was surreal and then after about one month reality hit and I got really down - feeling of doom and didn’t want to get out of bed. That lasted 3 or 4 weeks and now I’m feeling great - physically and mentally - have the spring back in my step), am walking just about every day which I’m really enjoying (am now seeing beauty in my neighbourhood I only previously drove past in a flash), have lost 7 kilo, BP has dropped significantly and I feel beaut - because the future again seems rosy. So I hope your family member is also now feeling better or, if not, can tap into the feeling of things actually getting better - cos he/she and I are now ahead of the game. 🦘

Hello from uk. My mum had a heart attack on the 12th and two stents and then was back in hospital and told she had inflamed sack around her heart. The most thing she is finding difficult is resting enough and changing her diet. She is an ex addict and substituted sugar and fast food for older habits. She has been clean for 5 years next month. She has her first rehab appointment soon and I hope it helps ease her worry and build her strength. She still keeps trying to do all the things possible and it’s hard to find the balance to help her if she needs it but also not being so overbearing to her. Thank you for your video.

I had a heart attack three weeks ago. I was on meds for HBP but my trigs were elevated and I did not know I had diabetes until I was in the ER for this event. Doctor said my heart attack was caused by a blood clot which was removed by an angioplasty and a stent placed in that artery where the blood clot was removed. I’m due for a follow up with the cardiologist at the end of next week. I am on a low sodium, low cholesterol and low sugar diet and taking oral medication for all three. It was truly overwhelming the first few days but with the support of family and friends, I am adjusting to my new lifestyle changes. Your video has relieved my worries about long term expectations. I am looking forward to moving ahead, following your guidance, support and reassurance.

The entire time my EKG and cardiac enzymes negative. The doctor tell me I’m very lucky. I’m healing. I have to get over this mental part though. That has stranglehold on me. I have meds for that. @@gloriamaryhaywood2217 Hi! Yes! I had a knee replacement in June and my husband was the caregiver for me at the time. He was very stressed and was complaining about being exhausted, but of course, blamed me. 🙄. When it was time for me to return to work, I went for my checkup and asked him to come along to have some bloodwork done to see if something was wrong. All bloodwork was fine but the doctor noticed that his heart sounded like a whoosh when he listened to it. They did an EKG at the office and that was fine too. The doctor made him go for an echocardiogram the next day and they discovered the aortic valve was almost closed. I wish I could say that there was something else, even in hindsight. It was only how absolutely exhausted he was. The doctors have told us that this was a defective valve, and is something that has been going on for years with him, but had reached a critical point. The doctors gave him 6 months left to live without the surgery. He is still recovering and is still quite exhausted. But they say that being tired right now is normal. I am just hoping that he can recover his energy. He was an extremely active guy…tractors, working out, working on the house…but when he couldn’t get off the couch for two days after each job, I knew that was not him. He is feeling quite lucky! Just trust your gut. If things seem “off,” there is no harm to check. We are so happy we did. Be well! 🌸

I had a heart attack a week ago today. I had a stent put in on Monday and was released on Wednesday back home. I am unsure how I am feeling. I already quit smoking and had been eating better, but it was to little to late in my case. They said a major thing that helped me was the fact I was already on an asprin a night. I am waiting on call back from cardiac rehab to determine my next steps. I'm only 43, which is young to have a heart attack at the level I had last week. But right now I just feel confused.

Thanks Docs ❤Strong family history of cardiovascular disease. I’m a 70 year old female. Live and work like I’m much younger, I was, and still am, physically active, strong, good healthy diet, weight is great…asked for a calcium scoring test, result showed a problem, cholesterol checked , the result was 301. Had to continually request to have those test run and see a cardiologist. The ultra sound, and eventually the angiogram showed the LAD was 100% blocked, one was 95-97%blocked and the 3rd was a little over 50% blocked. Surprised everyone because I didn’t “look” like someone that could have heart problems. I strongly advise people to advocate for themselves even if your GP disagrees with your concerns or requests. Trust yourself. It saved my life. Love my cardiologists, yes, I have several. It takes a team of docs to keep up with me 😂🎉

I've lost about 3kg since. I think adjusting to heart failure is the hardest bit, but I'm mostly back to health. Wow about the heart attack after physical exertion.... mine happened after I cleaned up my backyard and moved a heavy 500L container and its contents.
