My husband is disabled, we have had a very loving relationship over 20 years. He is brilliant, funny, loving and my wonderful partner. As a nurse I have been able to help him in a lot of ways, as a brilliant engineer, he has helped me. 🥰 we are both fragile now and still support each other, because love is love.

However, I feel she’s growing into a position where she is helping and encouraging a large amount of people especially among the disabled. Even when life is tough you’re still finding ways to keep at peace and keep life moving. You’re inspiring, Sophia. Much love! Also, thanks Attitude for another educational/inspiring video!

Labels like "disabled" often cause people to, sadly, look down on people and try and put limits on them. Sometimes people do this anyway, but "labels" make it worse. It its better to say something like "Joe has a disability." You can then say what the disability is and information about the disability. Furthermore, people often associated the word "disabled" with a physical problem that they can tell someone has just by looking at them (i.e. a wheelchair; a cane; a guide dog). There are many kinds of disabilities and they aren't all readily able to be seen by the eye (i.e. autism; seizure disorders).

@@beckypatton8557 i've seen an autistic child in a hospital and I could obviously say he had a disability just by looking at him. It was my first encounter with such a situation and was utterly shocked.

She is absolutely inspiring, I was thrown from a horse at 12 years old and had a fractured skull, bleeding of my brain and a CSF leak. This resulted in years of surgeries, illnesses and mis-diagnosis’s!!!! These types of injuries can alter you or make you more grateful for every day, I may not have had the same outcome but watching this reminds me of how close I could have been to these same types of challenges, and new ways of life! You are a miracle Sofia!!!!

@@blumberg1982 I appreciate your response to my comment. And I fully agree that being in a wheelchair doesnt automatically make someone an inspiration. I have told many folks who aren't in a chair that they are inspirational because of the way they respond to setbacks in life and just due to their approach to challenges. Just trying to spread more positivity in a world that has become quite negative.

Hi Sophia, This video was really moving. Especially the part where you were helping your friend with her bucket list. It made me (a grown man) cry. You come accross as a beautiful person in so many ways, both internaly and externaly. I am convinced you deserve to have and are capable of having a meaningful relationship. Sadly, long distance relationships are difficult at the best of times, but with covid it is even harder. I don't know if I should add this, please don't take offence. You and your Mum are both really pretty. You have beautiful eyes. Best wishes to you. I hope you are able to continue in the good work you are doing in caring for others.

Sophia and her family are very privileged to be able to build a fully accessible home, own an adapted vehicle and have access to the best neuro-physio resources from day one of her injury. For the average disabled person, we do not have access to these needs due to the high price of equipment. The financial burden of disability is a huge barrier, and needs more attention from the media. Disability makes us fiercely resilient. Society needs awareness beyond whether or not we are still attractive, loveable, and worthy of respect. We need to talk about ableism in its entirety.

@@jamesdavies1070 That is a great privilege! Most governments have made significant cuts to disability resources over the years, which leaves people fighting with private insurance companies or fundraising to purchase essential equipment. I guess maybe it's because I've been overseas so much before the pandemic but it strikes me that places like Europe and Britain have much more striking beauties than us New Zealanders we've kinda been churning out the same look for ages now it would be nice to see something different, you know take a few risks when it comes to our fashion and beauty industries.

I saw a video of Sophia before and how she got her injury and how she lived day by day a while back. Now seeing her again like this continuing on her journey gives hope to keep moving forward ! ✌️😊👌

This brings up so many memories for me. I had a near fatal motorcycle crash where I had a van pull out in front of me in 1996. I was stubborn and insisted on doing everything myself. When I was still in hospital I asked for children’s learn to write workbooks so I could practice writing with my non-dominant hand. I went back to my job in software engineering. I was lucky I had a career that my injuries didn’t effect. Still I have depression and anxiety. I think it’s great to see more successful people.
