Life After Warranty - GL Bikes - Motorcycle Halfway Houses

The main dealers are great for buying new or nearly new motorcycles, parts and servicing but with large showrooms and lots of staff, can be expensive. Chances are, if you part exchange your older or high mileage bike they will pass it on. So where do you go to find a cheap older bike? If you don’t ride often or just what a short term bike for summer, winter, or a particular job, where do you go? There are places like GL Bikes that have an array of all sorts. They are great places to visit and nearly always have something in your price bracket. They also take on repair and servicing work at a fraction of the cost of a main dealership. Great places providing a great service.

In the UK. Used bikes, sold by dealers must have a three months warranty and it can be difficult getting hold of parts for general servicing so the big dealers find they are too much trouble. Main dealers who take older bikes in part exchange sell them on to dealers like the one you visited here. The Valkyrie engine is so smooth you can balance a 50pence piece on the engine case and rev the engine without the coin faling over. No BS, I have seen it done|.

Mr. TAYM, as person from more poorer country, we had only this sort of places that import all sort of bikes 2nd hand from Europe, mainly from Italy .. They are still going strong but as economy improved last 10 years, the dealerships of new bikes are on a rise as well.. We already have 3 RE dealers in different ends of the country. It use to be only one. .. Talking about that, I am going there today .. Soon - marvelous pics

I bought a 1998 Harley Davidson Superglide 1340 there a few years ago, interesting to see their place.

The green Harley looked quite nice. I like the Sporters with their basic no nonsense motorcycle look. We have a dealer like that in Tonbridge, there's allsorts in there. On the downside the dealer where I purchased my Classic 350 has thrown in the towel. The landlord was asking too much for rent so they've closed the dealership of 73 years trading. Various other reasons stated too.

Nice walk around TAYM. Popped in there when I was looking to replace the sportster, prices were OK but some of the bikes were definitely showing their age. You are dead right on the road in, more like the surface of the moon, good fun though 👍

Getting a bike for less then 4k and a few fixes a year can cost 1/3 the price of a new bike payment. It's finding a mechanic that is worth the weight and gold

I've got a similar place very close to where I live. In fact, it was where I bought my brilliant "Orrible Hornet" from last year as a winter bike. They mostly started selling used cars many moons ago and then added bikes a little later. They operate from a farm and have a great selection of bikes in a newly converted barn. Nice guys, always up for a chat and no sales pressure. Are you liking the Daytona?

It's a shame their aren't more places like that TAYM these older models are still good bikes I think one concern is the ethanol in fuel messing things up as it did with mine these bikes really are still reliable fuel aside and with a good amount of power and as much fun factor as many newer models . Great to see 👌👍

Great place, can't believe you didn't mention the Old & iconic Raleigh Chopper/Tomahawk cycle. Most of those older bikes from late 90's onwards are trouble free & easy maintenance.
