As a business owner, PLEASE charge way more! (When I heard you and your husband produced a video for $350 I was surprised. The going rate for any sort of video production and editing, even on a tiny camera is at least $1,000 and up here in California). I really enjoyed your video and you have a very nice persona about you. Know your value and but don't undersell your skills. 🥰

Hello Annalisa, do you have a vacancy for a virtual assistant or writer?
@reniestt18742 жыл бұрын
I strongly agree! That is what I've done with my direct clients. Meaning non-agency- provided clients.
@deadcell1 Жыл бұрын
That will work if you are just competing in CA.. However, when you are virtual assistant you are competing in a global marketplace. As a business owner, if I can get the same quality of work done for half the price for simply hiring someone in FL as oppose to CA I would go for the cheaper option. You're services are only worth as much as someone I willing to pay for them. If you want to charge more for your services the quality of your service has to be superior than the cheaper competition and you have to offer services the cheaper competition is unwilling to do.
@ToniAnnBarandon Жыл бұрын
Also keep in mind, that the rate offered for a job is the value of the position and the expertise, on top of the time and effort. It's not a reflection of the value of a person - who is priceless of course. A lot of new, inexperienced people are finding out what seasoned professionals are charging, then charging the same rates. Which is unreasonable, but also makes the seasoned pros have to raise their rates in order to position themselves as visible experts. It's in not cool to charge the same as people who have done it for years and have well earned status. I've hired so many newbies whose rates were the pro standard, but their work was entry level, and their lack of experience showed through in their inability to take initiative and make informed, quality decisions.

I think her FB griup is now closed to paid members. I tried joining it. Trying to decide if I should go out there alone & piece it together like you did. Sounds like it's hard to make lucrative money. Thank you for this reality. May be why these courses to train us are 1k-2k a pop.

Wow you actually went through the same steps I've gone through. Awesome video! But in first started as a freelance VA back in 2017 then 2018 started my biz with an LLC and worked it as a side hustle. At that time I knew Abbey Ashley and joined her group like she did. Now I resigned from my ft wah tiring job then transitioned into a 2 month client project because it was a full-time thing. This was a leap of faith because I'm like should I take this opportunity with this new client or stay underpaid at this tiring job? So I did it! Left my job for a FT client then ended up working with a VA agency + getting clients on my own. 🙂I know VA agencies don't pay well due to the pay rates but it's the backbone of my business as a job replacement in my mind. But this agency plans to increase pay rate and I'll be getting clients with more hours. So I thank God for that. I tell you it was not easy but all I did was kept the faith, kept going and trusted the process. 😊

Are we mixing up VA job with Video editing, Social Media Marketing etc which actually require specific skills that one needs to learn like content writing, video editing etc. And if we have these services sold under the VA umbrella then isnt $10 an hour very cheap? Coz I thought only those who provided services like Basic Market research, handling calls, emails and managing calendars would start with $10 an hour. Also you mentioned that you got an opportunity to do copywriting with zero experience? Like how does that happen? Coz I know people having months and years of copywriting experience and still struggling to get that first Freelance client. I have been doing Content writing for a year now and after so many pitches I still am unable to find that first client for copywriting or copy editing. Guess clients just wanna trust folks from America and Europe. Sorry to be blunt here but here is my take - you provide website designing, video editing and copywriting, social media marketing etc which is great but these cannot be necessarily called VA job at all. These are individual skills. And while I am happy that you have all these skills and you sell well - clients would end up having expectations that a "VA" should be having all these skills and they wouldn't entertain people like me who don't really possess all these skills. You're mixing up a VA job with all the aforementioned skills is what I feel. And lastly - you get paid $900 out of which $300 goes in taxes and transaction fee. And after all those hours you have $155 in hand. I mean this shows freelancing as VA one would end up paying more than earning, isnt it
@travelingwithfaith3 жыл бұрын
So the VA title is pretty general, but each VA has specific skills. Some focus on social media but still call themselves VAs. I often see jobs that are asking for VAs who have SPECIFIC skills. For instance, I saw a job recently who said they were hiring a VA but wanted their VA to have experience with social media, email marketing, etc. The type of VA you're describing would be a more general/admin VA. As for copywriting, I got my client with pretty much zero experience because I just put my name in the hat and nobody else did.

stop being so hard on yourself, no one knows until they intentionally learn these skills. anything you're struggling with, there's a free video to walk you through it on KZbin or a free course or a blogger who writes enough about it to give you the basics. you're in charge of your skills and education. create mini-projects for yourself and just pretend a client asked you to do it. this will help you create a portfolio and practice. you can also volunteer with a non-profit to work for free while you learn.

Please charge more for your services. You are underselling yourself big time. I live in Portugal and charge 25-30 euros an hour for any kind of web work. In the U.S. the rate would easily be four times that, especially if you’re living in a big city. Yes freelancing can be an exhausting hustle, but you can make good money if you value your work. 10 years ago I was charging $500 a day for any non-commercial photography work. The going rate then was $1,000 a day minimum for commercial work. I left that world but am sure the rates are much much higher. The more you sell yourself short the more it hurts all of us out here too. Just keep going, get more skills, and jack up your prices.
