Ellie is diagnosed with autism, anxiety and ADHD. While all her peers are getting jobs and boyfriends, she just wants to watch kid cartoons. Ellie wishes she could be more mature, but all that stuff just seems so boring to her.

Fight the good fight. Being aware is what a lot of people are afraid of, and many people dismiss a diagnose as a "label". But it actually helps to give a vocabulary to problems that people experience. That's why we have diagnoses. Not to label people, but to help people.

i have the same diagnosis as her and an IQ of 137. Thats something that happens often parallel with this diagnosis.
@sonicmaths8285
@sonicmaths8285 9 ай бұрын
@@SuperCybertiger There is no correlation between (Asperger-)Autism and IQ. Those people, independent of their IQ, are just more conspicuous. Hence, people with higher IQs and those disorders are more likely to be diagnosed and tested (which is a standard procedure when diagnosing someone with something neurodivergent). People who are highly intelligent, but don't have any disorder, are less likely to be tested. I have an IQ a bit higher than that (I also have evidence, but that's not the point), but I wasn't primarily tested for my IQ, but because I have OCPD and comorbid OCD, which made be more prone to being tested and conspicuous. Just for further clarification: you generally said that intelligence and autism or linked whatsoever, which isn't true. If one takes your comment literally and out of context, then yes, a diagnosis and IQ testing go hand-in-hand.

@sonicmaths8285
@sonicmaths8285 8 ай бұрын
@@Hiro_515 My gosh, there obviously isn’t one. Through common sense and some (proper) research you will arrive at the same conclusion. Also, you seemingly don’t understand statistics, so let’s look at that purely speculative phenomenon closer: Suppose there exists a “correlation” (mark/highlight this word), then this doesn’t mean just because you have Asperger’s you automatically are more knowledgeable and intelligent then the average person. It would just primarily show us that there exist people who also are intelligent and have Asperger’s. If otherwise, then we have the situation as I have already mentioned above. Correlation isn’t causality, which is assumed here, but this isn’t true at all. Asperger (or autism in general) doesn’t imply intelligence in the least. There exist way more Asperger-people with average IQ scores then there are otherwise. It would highly interest me where you have found your information proving this ridiculousness.

I think they care, but they also want to help her develop the basic level of control and social awareness that helps her relate to others for her benefit. I love marvel super heroes, always have. But as an adult, I am aware that it would be confusing to just start spouting off random marvel facts at my job or during social events where other people have dozens of different interests that don't pertain to the current event we are attending. Everyone has interests, sure. But not every event is a time to talk about your interests. That's just normal life, and I am glad to hear they are helping her adjust to that so that she doesn't run into complications later in life when she meets new people who don't know her (who will be far less understanding in most cases)

It breaks my heart how focused she is on confirming to the world and “doing things right”. You don’t need to change a THING about yourself. @Emularis I completely agree, and would like to add that it's always a balance of both. In this interview, it's barely noticable that she has a special condition, apart from some strange contradictory statements. But I assume it's because she's already worked so hard on trying to fit in. Also changing the world around you isn't simple if you aren't accepted in the world. It might get easier with time, idk. But I do hope she doesn't conform to the boring lifes of so many people and forgets about the bright and colorful spirit most people push away after school, because that's not something "adults" do.

Everything she talks about (especially organized chaos, liking kids shows, feeling awkward, wishing to know what she’s doing, expressing herself with outfits and just over all being a glass-half-full person) is exactly how I feel all the time! It really meant a lot to find at least one person out there who thinks and acts just like me; I have ADD and severe anxiety (and while I’m not diagnosed with autism, a lot of my friends/close family do tell me I seem to be on that spectrum) so I definitely see where the things she talks about are coming from. My brother has much more severe autism and my family didn't pay attention to my peculiarities as they would've otherwise in part because I seemed fully functional in comparison. When I was diagnosed my family vehemently refused to accept the diagnosis, and that's what has happened in a way every time I tried to ask help for my peculiarities, but knowing I'm not alone and that Asperger's doesn't imply atrocious maladjustment to everyday life like I was led to believe really got me through. Once again thank you so much.

she's just normal, like when she talks about therapy she treats her autism like it's a major issue when it really isn't, she's her own person who deserves to be respected for exactly who she is. like i mean, there's nothing wrong with her, there's something wrong with the world around her

I remember being that age and doing and being similar to her, I'm older now and I still do things people consider childish and immature but that's something that I prize because I kept my imagination and as a writer I love that. Hope she is well, always stay strong and learn wherever you can

I think everyone my age watches that. It's not unusual at all. I on the other hand straight up watch Bluey. Plenty of reasons. Go ahead, ludge me. I really don't care.

I can empathise with this girl as I know what it is like to live with a disability. This was such an inspiring video thank you for sharing, and promoting people with difficulties. 😃👍 Keep supporting people and be kind. Because the kindness you show to other people always has a way of coming back to you.❤
