How does this apply to animal and child cruelty which is unforgivable fills me with despair? Its hard to feel peaceful, warm & fuzzy when faced with such things.
@EvitaOchel5 жыл бұрын
That is a big topic Lesley and not one that can be given an easy answer via a KZbin comment because of the differences in individual consciousness. I don't know you and I don't know what your conscious awareness is capable of handling. This kind of topic requires a very sensitive and responsible approach because what one person is capable of understanding and using for self-empowerment, may be something that another person gets incredibly offended or hurt by. If you study Eastern spiritual wisdom, you will get the best answers to this question, when you are truly ready to hear them. Either way, no one is saying that we should feel warm and fuzzy in any challenging situation. The goal is equanimity and inner peace that is fueled by a deep understanding of the nature of this reality and the nature of the soul. Compassion, too, is always essential in any challenging situation, however fear, anger, hatred, and resentment are not. It is these latter states of thinking and feeling that are the purpose for each person to learn to transcend within any given lifetime.

@@EvitaOchel Hi Evita, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I understand the points you're making and have always tried to show compassion and understanding but only a few days ago I heard the most awful account of a beautiful, innocent swan being found beaten to death with a plank of wood. The suffering, fear and pain that lovely creature of God must have endured is heartbreaking, and of course we all know of so many similar stories involving defenceless animals and children. Like many people, I feel it tear open the fabric of my very soul. I try to understand that to do such a thing the perpetrator must have been damaged in some way by their own experience and was probably also a victim of some kind of cruelty. I do struggle though to see where such things fit Tom's theory that when we see painful or challenging events or circumstances its our own doing/fault and that we must have somehow created it, as a reflection of ourselves. Thankfully, the majority of people in this world are kind, caring and would never harm others, and I love listening to Tom and his theories, but I confess that I don't understand his claim that we only see such things because somewhere along the line it represents who we are. Maybe I have misunderstood him although I have listened to hours of his interviews and lectures. Love your channel and will keep trying to grasp what my consciousness and the things I observe says about me and how the world/this reality works xx

How can you "get it at the being level" if you cannot experience the bigger picture and the illusion of death. It seems unrealistic that the common person can get beyond the fear of death without seeing for themselves the illusion of death. I am struggling with meditation and changing the quality of my being. I write this because I feel a bit frustrated with myself and my quality of consciousness. Ready to carry on and continue my baby baby steps.
@EvitaOchel9 жыл бұрын
+gale cox The gateway to the being level are our feelings. Feelings go beyond the intellect, and so a helpful thing is to calm and quiet the mind, enough to experience more of what we are feeling, rather than thinking. And this begins to provide all sorts of illumination, awakening, awareness and if we follow through by examining those feelings and working with them, eventually change on a deep level of our being. As for the illusion of death, absolutely baby steps is right. We don't need to get there right away, we have a lot of other things that we can work on, which will help, way before we start to tackle the "big one". For this journey to be sustainable, it is essential to take it one step at a time, and not get ahead of ourselves, which will only prove to be frustrating or challenging or overwhelming, and make us give it up altogether. Most importantly also, be gentle and loving with yourself. Yes, the potential here is huge, but let's be sure to enjoy the journey of every moment, as this again works with us on the level of the being, rather than on the level of the mind. It is only the mind that cannot grasp or understand, and wants us to be "there". Your heart/soul/spirit/being are just fine where they are, and they already understand. So as you work on meditation, start small, and first and foremost work on dropping expectations of what should happen and when. Just sit with yourself. Get comfortable with the silence. Get comfortable with the body. Get comfortable with observing the mind and its nature. The rest will follow naturally.

Maybe it is a little too early for me to comment before watching the whole vid or series with this fellow. A little background on myself, I have Asperger's but wasn't able to label it as such until my mid 50's, I discovered this through diagnosing my son who was mislabed as ADD, and after reading all the characteristics and lo and behold that is me! Anyhoo as a typical Asperger I went about life doing what Aspies do until my thirties I found myself in the Bar Hotel twice once for 11 months and a 2nd time in the Retreat known as the Ohio State Pen for a short stay LOL. There I furthered my Graduate studies in Majors that won't go into here suffice to say I stay away from violence or anything that harm any beings. Further I really doubt that this experience increase any spirituality in myself and in fact made me more of a hardened human being.......with Aspergs LOL. Not a good combination. Ok will continue my sorry story as I watch this.

The idea that problems arise when you only focus on satisfying your own needs (@ 18:20) made me think of the following video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6mZhYmPpsmBY6ch21m56s As we've evolved we learned to explore our world, and push our exploration further and further. This exploration has brought us more comfort and stability in an uncomfortable and unstable world. Therefore, exploring things (physically or mentally) feels good. So this sets up the idea of desire and satisfaction. We prefer being in a state of desire (or exploration), because we feel more excited and alive in a state of desire (the neuro-chemical dopamine plays a part in this pleasurable feeling). Satisfaction, also feels good but unfortunately it's quickly lost, but desire can be activated infinitely. Desire isn't necessarily a negative thing, but unfortunately most people's desires are self serving and this is why problems occur. This biological and evolutionary mechanism has created a paradoxical problem. Desire has made a chaotic universe less chaotic for us as humans. Yet its also at the root of the human-made chaos we've produced. My personal antidote has been learning to meditate and be aware of desire. And over time discern which desires are OK to follow and which could lead to negative consequences (essentially discerning the probability of outcomes based on my actions like Tom Campbell discusses). I don't always get it right....but my life is far more peaceful and enjoyable than it was before I was aware of my desires. And this has positively affected my relationships and the world around me.

He makes an important point regarding people on upper levels of power but also we humanity need to notice that people on very low levels of power are interfering in a negative way also. I am talking about people who have a very low level of consciousness there fore low level of choices and so on, for example people who refuses to work or to be a productive individual just because it is easier living out of government financial help. They are making those choices just because they were as self center as the people on top of government or big corporations , and I am pretty sure those are the people who complain about capitalism and wealth etc. I think we need to notice that little detail and be more focus in knowing that we choose our limitations and we deicide if we want to change our parasite life or be a proactive individual of society .

It seems they're stuck ....the people at the top should have enough information and experience to make choices but don't while the people at the bottom haven't any ....both ends choose me first..

I think it's fun to channel anger sometimes. I guess that's different from actually being angry. Of course I also get angry for real, I just thought it was important to open up the possibility. Also, sometimes being afraid of expressing your anger can become worse than actually expressing it. I'm thinking of fear of abandonment, as in "If I don't act happy, people won't like me". Maybe you should destroy some social structures where expressing your anger is sanctioned against in ways that create massive fear. Get yourself and others involved with a larger structure that's less entropic. An obvious example would be a cult that focuses on you going to hell if you get angry. It might be better to get really angry just to maybe destroy that cult dynamic. I am totally saying that anger creates chaos, but that there is something worse than chaos, namely evil, viruses, programs that destroy the larger unentropic system very effectively. Paul Levy talks about some of this stuff, becoming Kali (lol, Kali Linux lets you channel this stuff, I guess :D ) and so on. I think that on a lower level it can be productive to mess with people, to pretend to be really angry so you can get a little life into a conversation that's going stale. I guess this could be called ethical trolling. Like even literally trolls who stop us humans from imposing our notion of order on the much more organic and organized eco-systems. We might evolve a more organic idea of order, but until that time I'm not so sure that it's always worse to direct anger at something to create chaos. Think of it as massaging out a knot for example.

But where do all the volunteers come from? are souls forced to come here? or is individuality an illusion? when someone gets pregnant, a soul has to occupy that body, so where do they all come from?
@EvitaOchel6 жыл бұрын
No one is forced to come here, rather there is a reason for every individuation being where they are, at any given time for the purpose of their growth, learning, and evolution. With regards to souls, we cannot think of them as equivalent to "bodies" or "numbers", rather as energy or consciousness, which can individuate itself as much or as often as it likes. Think of it instead like water. Water can be one body, yet it can be split into many vessels that then hold the water. And yes, individuality is an illusion. Here is a great article about that: www.matthieuricard.org/en/blog/posts/the-illusion-of-the-self--2

On a personal level, I really like Tom. I agree with much of what he teaches about consciousness. However, ethically speaking, I wonder how much of my intent creates one-ply garbage bags that tear apart upon lifting them out of my trash can. This then leads me to think, " How greedy and cheap of the company to produce such cheap bags for consumers". So I wonder: When Tom buys garbage bags, are they 3-ply? Or do I have a fundamental misunderstanding of his message?
@EvitaOchel7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, with specific examples like this it is always helpful to look at the bigger picture. In this case, it is not so much about the bags, but about the fact that as a society we have (and do create) via our intent a demand for cheap (financially speaking) items, without regard to the real costs of these items: health, environmental, etc. This in turn literally makes them "cheap", as in low quality, and causes us to go through many of one item, which could be avoided if it were created properly to begin with. But again, as Tom shares, we have to change at the Being level to accomplish this change - to think and act more holistically, take personal responsibility and keep various consequences in mind. As long as people only think about the short-term, personal gain, then we will continue to have many problematic items, as we do, with the bags being just one example. So the solution in this case specifically, while applying the entropy model and make choices that move us toward the lowest entropy, is not so much about bags either, but about first and foremost focusing on how much garbage/waste we create. It is possible to live zero-waste (I will eventually do a video about this on the channel), where between buying less and buying items that are low-waste, and recycling and composting, there is very little "true waste" left. So much so, that you can get away with using a typical grocery store plastic bag (1 per week or less), without buying any plastic bags, to not contribute to that practice altogether.

Michael Davidson Well I guess if you haven't spent any time studying the idea 'then' it might....look up the Venus project and the Zeitgeist movement and study the idea.
@EvitaOchel9 жыл бұрын
+Peter Jolliffe The concept of the resource-based economy and Jacque's work (the Venus Project) is something that I resonate very much with myself, since I learned about it several good years back, and have even hosted Ben McLeish to talk about it in the past (kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3-zm4OOadeEppY). And while I would be up for it in a heartbeat, as I realized over the years, to put such a system in place, it truly does take a certain level of consciousness in the collective. One of the most common arguments against the concept that I used to always come across is people asking "but why would I want to participate, work, and share if I am not technically getting paid, etc." And that is part of it: until humans realize that by benefiting others/the collective, we benefit ourselves, such a system would either not be accepted or have too many taking advantage in various ways given the current level of consciousness, at thinking and being levels. If you'd like to hear more from Tom on this subject specifically, I am not sure if you have seen his episode where we talk about money more in detail and the whole economy. That episode is here if you are interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmTOiHRoirJkbNE I also just posted part 2 to this series, and he also touched upon the monetary system, and why it is up to the consciousness at time frame (1:06:18) here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqqxeWWgf9Gngsk
