ruarfa I : I honestly feel like girls are ashamed to say they are oily. So many people are like oh no I'm not oily I'm combination. And all that means is you are oily and dry. But it sounds better than oily. So many beauty gurus are like oh my skin isn't oily or anything but behind the camera they're probably a grease boat like me and you. Idk why it's a negative thing it's just genetics. It's sad, us oily skin people need more people and tips to help us out!

Another oily skin hack is to use primer, transparent powder, THEN setting spray before your foundation. When I did this it actually made everything apply a lot smoother, less cakey, made my skin feel smoother, AND less oily. It works wonders for my skin
@MichaellaSapphire8 жыл бұрын
Oily girl here! Another tip regarding the blotting paper is before you touch up your makeup, BLOT first. I cannot emphasize that enough. It makes such a great difference for me personally. If you just add more powder without blotting the oil first, you're bound to be a cakey mess because it's just gonna slip n slide around, especially if you use pressed powder to touch up (like me).
@Ana-di7pb8 жыл бұрын
omg RIGHT!! I have no idea how so many people apply powder without blotting!
@MichaellaSapphire8 жыл бұрын
I cringe every time I think of how many times I'm guilty of not blotting my face first in the past. And I always wondered why my face gets oily so quickly...lmao
@kelbell81278 жыл бұрын
atba3 I used to do that before I knew what blotting papers were!! I would just slap powder on top of my greasy skin and It literally looked so bad. I want to go back in time and kick myself lmao
@ItsCarrieKay1436 жыл бұрын
also, if you don't have blotting papers, grab a piece of toilet paper, preferably a thin one, or separate the pieces and blot. works as well, I have found tho that it can make some of the makeup transfer.
@lilafons64438 жыл бұрын
Yes! Thank you for this Nikkia! I will definitely second putting oil on at night, it works wonders. My skin produces so much less oil during the day because of my nightly oil over top of all my other night time products. But be careful with coconut oil, it's highly comedigenic. My sister is an esthetician and she said the best way to use coconut oil on your face is to mix it with used coffee grounds. I've used it as exfoliant (it plumps up fine lines and wrinkles and exfoliates really well when made into a paste. I use it before I wash my face and make sure to wash all the oil off). She also told me to use it as an undereye mask. Make that paste and apply to undereye area. Let sit for about 20-30 minutes. When you rinse it off puffiness is reduced, lines are plumped, dark circles are lighter and skin is super moisturized. Yes I have super oily skin, but I'm 35, so I definitely have fine lines under my eyes and really dark circles. It really works. Glad your neck is better. I've been there and it SUCKS! Take it easy though, don't want to throw it out again.
@shayferreira21598 жыл бұрын
hi.. let me see if I get it.. for dark circles the paste you mention is the one with coffee grains?! I really need a solution for this lol
@Italianqueen19668 жыл бұрын
Lila Fons Lila, I'm very interested in how you use the oil at night! Plus, using oil and used coffee grounds to exfoliate your face and using it as an under eye treatment!! I would love to chat with you more about this, but I don't have Twitter, Facebook, snap chat or anything like that, just email! I would be grateful if we could correspond via email regarding this subject. If your willing I will give you my email address, so PLEASE give me a shout! That would be great!!💕
@lilafons64438 жыл бұрын
Yes you make a paste of coconut oil and used coffee grounds (make sure they are used) place it under your eyes and let sit for about 25-30 minutes. It really plumps up the skin, lessens dark circles, and super moisturizers the area. Just mix in a bowl, no certain amount, just make sure it's a "pasty" consistency.
@lilafons64438 жыл бұрын
Kathy Byrne sure I'm all for helping. It has changed my skin. I might be slow to respond right now, I'm in the hospital, but will help you in any way I can.
@Italianqueen19668 жыл бұрын
Lila Fons Lila, I'm sorry to hear your in the hospital, my thoughts of healing are with you! Though, I appreciate it so much for you replying! Do you you apply the paste at part of your PM routine? Do you use your normal cleanser (face wash) to remove and apply any moisturizer over the after? Also, you mentioned, having oily skin that you use the coffee grounds all over your face and apply the oil which in turns helps maintain your oily skin. Therefore, same questions as mentioned above? When your feeling better I would be extremely grateful to correspond via email with you, so we may discuss this further. I'm always interested in new techniques and tricks/tips like this. Like I said, I'm just a RN, not trying to steal any ideas for any gain but to help my under eyes area and face; nor representing some company!! Thank you again and feel better soon!! 💕

Hi Nikkia! I'm 54 and I still have oily skin (like I can stick a piece of paper to my forehead in the morning, kind of oily)! It's a pain, but good news for your younger fans; oily skinned gals like us do get way less wrinkles than our dryer-skinned friends! My new dermatologist thought I was in my early 40s at my last appointment in June. So take heart, everyone! I also wanted to mention that taking a low-dose contraceptive pill really helps to normalize oily skin. I am too old for this but (with approval by your doctor) younger women may also consider this. It's the Estrogen that really helps. Also, I'd recommend staying away from any face products that have fragrance in them which can aggravate acne. Like you touched upon, any product that makes your face feel tight or stings, is actually hurting not helping your skin (wish I knew that when I was a teenager!). For your 11th hack, I'd also include sunscreen; the ultimate ant-aging product! Minimum SPF 30. I actually use an SPF 45 moisturizing sunscreen as my moisturizer. There are also sunscreens for oily skin out there. Just avoid the ones with fragrance. Your reward for wearing sunscreen everyday will be apparent when you get older ('cause you will still care, believe me!). Hope this is helpful!

Hey girls.. I felt exactly the same way, when I found Nikkia's channel a long time ago, I was really beginning too think that there wasn't any beauty guru's out there on KZbin who really understood my problems with applying beautiful makeup, they all have normal to dry skin, and they all use that dewy finish to look glowing and healthy, and all it did for me, was making me look like a greasy lightbulb 😵💡🆘 but theeeen, like a bright beautiful light✨ at the end of a looooong 39 years old, makeup is not for me "look" I suddenly found a video about "keeping your foundation on your nose 👃🏻 All day...I thought 💭 here we go again, but 30 seconds in I WAS HOOKED, she is amazing 💖 she have literally taught me, HOW to apply makeup, what to buy, and what NOT to buy, when you have oily skin, at the age of 39 I cannot even tell you, how much that have changed my life...I am soooo sooooo grateful @nikkiajoy you are a lifesaver 💗💗🙏🏼💖💋💋 I adore you to pieces, thank you so so much gurl💖💖

Believe it or not, milk of magnesia literally works wonders! I've learned this from youtubers. You can get it for $1 and some change at the dollar tree. You just paint one layer of it on your face with a foundation brush, (2 layers if your skin is prone to looking like a COMPLETE grease ball) then as it dries it turns into a chalky white residue, and after its completely dry, you just dot "Monistat chafing relief powder gel" (sold at target and some CVS stores) on your face and rub it in, it gets rid of all the white chalky stuff. It makes your makeup apply ridiculously smooth and your face literally stays MATTE all day. No kidding, when I do this, my makeup doesn't move. I even slept with my makeup on and everything stayed in place and I was STILL matte!! This technique is the secret that makeup artists use to keep brides looking matte all day for their wedding!! It truly works I'm telling you.
@mickeyjennings14384 жыл бұрын
I too use this routine! It completely changed my life. I have got eyes on me everywhere I go now!!!
@Kim-lz9vu4 жыл бұрын
@@mickeyjennings1438 Awesome! Yeah that still works. You can use “Magnesium Citrate” liquid instead, it’s just like milk of magnesia but it’s CLEAR! No more white chalkiness. You just wait for it to dry completely then apply the monistat chafing relief over it and it keeps you matte all day. I think it actually works a little better than regular milk of magnesia. It just tingles a little bit on the skin because the one I have is lemon flavored but it doesn’t smell like lemon at all.

Great advice!! Oily skin gets even trickier as you get older and need to treat wrinkles. Kate Somerville Dermal Quench Liquid Lift is great under make-up, because it's a foam. You get anti-aging benefits and light moisture and it soaks all the way in. I totally agree w/ layering primers. I use the Skindanavia Primer spray (for oily skin) then the Makeup Forever mattifying primer (it works almost like a mask to tighten pores!). Then the NARS All Day Luminous foundation is GREAT!! Very thin and liquidy with great coverage, so you only put a tiny amount of foundation on your face, so it looks a lot more natural than the Estee Lauder. (I'm just not a fan of Estee Lauder foundations in general.) Then the Skindanavia setting spray...also for oily skin. - It's great to have a KZbinr that can really relate to the struggles of truly oily skin! :-)

-Sigh- When your skin is so oily that you can't wear your hair down because it gets your fringe oily.... Also instead of using coconut oil I recommend Jojoba oil as it is the closet vegetable oil to the skins natural sebum, coconut oily is highly comedogenic which means it will likely clog your pores

I have a different problem I have oily skin but I seem to have troubles with my skin even absorbing the foundation. I don't know if anyone will have tips for me but when I put on foundation it seems to just sit on my skin and soon as I touch my face it wipes off and this happens right away. I don't know if I'm using too much foundation or what but I hate putting on foundation to have it just come off or look cakey :( do you think pushing in my foundation after will really help?
@dunmer_appreciator13798 жыл бұрын
Idk how much foundation you're using but maybe you could try using less foundation. Makeup is a lot of trial and error for most people, so you might have to just experiment more and keep looking up and trying different tips and tricks. Also, are you setting your foundation with a setting powder and/or setting spray (I like to use both)? Are you exfoliating your skin at all? Using primers before putting foundation on? These are all great things to try if you aren't already. If you are though, then I'm not sure (hopefully someone else might have better suggestions or add things I missed). But I would start with those things!

And you'll never know if pushing in your foundation will work for you or not unless you try it! Different things work for different people.

+Courtney Case thank you! I think a little while after I posted this I discovered that it probably was that I was using too much foundation. I'd always hear beauty gurus in their videos saying they used 1-2 pumps of foundation and I thought that's what i needed but I used like a dime size all over my face and my face looked so much less textured and I think my foundation didn't move as much thankfully! Thank you for the tips :) I also always use a primer and set with powder and depending on the day setting spray. I'm going to try the pushing in method in a few days and hopefully it'll make my face look even more flawless afterwards.

+jordaneer4evaa Oh good! I'm glad it's working out better for you (: I also notice my foundation doesn't stay on as good or I'll look super cakey if I put too much on. Sometimes I still make that mistake. Old habits die hard I guess, lol. Have a wonderful day/night!

100% agree so much to moisturising! Made such a HUGE difference to my skin when I started using it about 2 years ago! Having trouble with extra oily skin again at the moment, so hoping some of these tips will help! The Garnier Anti-shine cleanser is really good by the way!

Be careful with coconut oil if you are acne prone. It's highly comedogenic! Use a beauty oil designed for the face. I love Eminence Organics facial recovery oil.

Love your nail polish and eyeshadow. I use the Pond's clarant face cream for oily skin. It comes in a pink jar and it moisturizes as well as mattifies my skin after I wash my face. I exfoliate gently in the mornings to get dead skin cells off then am good to go with my Pond's cream. It also evened my skin tone. Thanks for the coconut oil tip. Will try it tonight

Nikkia, you have given me such great advice when it comes to my super oily skin. So many beauty youtubers have dry skin, and i have started watching your videos waaaayyyy more than theirs because I feel that their advice can't apply to me. However, I still feel like an oily freak. I have tried hourglass mineral veil with urban decay all nighter foundation, then set with Laura mercier translucent setting powder. Then I use the urban decay de-slick setting spray. AND... I literally get oily in an hour. My makeup is breaking up completely five hours after, despite following your touch up routine (blotting papers--like four an hour--dirty beauty sponge, translucent powder, etc...) which helped a lot for sure, but I almost just want to give up on foundation completely. It only looks good for an hour. I'm so discouraged. And I'm FORTY. I thought I was supposed to dry out by now. I'm sad. I just want my makeup to stay pretty but I end up looking like a dirt bag by the end of the day. Oily skin is so frustrating. I'm supposed to get the Gerard cosmetics setting spray tomorrow, but I'm losing hope 😔

@tbsfreak8 жыл бұрын
Your mascara is probably the type that doesn't really dry quick, so find one that does. A good, cheap one would be this mascara from Essence. Forgot what it's called by it's in an all-black tube. It dries quick so there's no smudging throughout the day, AND it's easy to remove!
@tbsfreak8 жыл бұрын
But just letting you know the brush head is pretty huge for a mascara so be careful not to get the mascara on your lids when you're applying 😂
@Tea_Noire8 жыл бұрын
You're probably buying mascaras that flake and smudge easily. If you're looking for a drugstore priced product, try the Maybelline Falsies for volume, and Maybelline Lash Stiletto for length and definition. If you really want to take your lashes to the next level, use Covergirl's Super Sizer mascara as a second coat ONLY. Do not use the Super Sizer on it's own, for some reason it turns into a clumpy wet mess when you do. If you want a high end product, use Benefit They're Real. It's the only high end mascara that I've ever used and it stays put all day, and although everyone complains about it being hard to get off, I've never had a problem removing it with the Epielle makeup wiped I usually get at Big Lots or Dollar Tree. Hope this helps!

all these bitches saying omg I have an oily skin because my nose is very oily; your skin is NOT oily if it's not your whole face. it is probably combination skin type or sometimes even normal (if your nose is only oily at the end of the day). I have a very oily skin. for example: my whole face is getting oily after just 20 min. after I washed my face. Be careful with analysing your skin type, it will make a HUGE difference if you know what your real skin type is.

The setting spray before makeup truly does work! Whenever I do that I don't have to blot!! Also, if you use a beauty blender you can use setting spray (I use urban decay de slick oil control spray) to wet the beauty blender and it works really well! It presses the spray into your skin and combines it with your foundation so it lasts all day!! Baking also helps to keep makeup on longer and control oils!!

I would agree that Hourglass vail primer and MAC prep + prime are both epic primers for us oily people! I also use MAC fix + after priming, but before foundation, and then again after all products are done, and then Urban Decay All Nighter to fully set, this lasts all day for my oily skin. I do like Bosnia blotting papers as well and touching up with either Laura Mercier or Maybelline Super stay Better Skin powder, both are great!

I'm 23 and have been using Clean & Clear oil removing sheets since elementary school and it has been life-changing for my oily, acne-prone skin. If I run out during the day at work I panic! The sheets are blue and do not have the tissue paper consistency that other blotting papers do (just a preference for me) and run between $4-$7 depending on where you buy it (Rite Aid, Walmart, etc.). 👍🏻
