Haadia Shaikh - I’m extremely oily. That foundation doesn’t work for me. I tried just about every drug store foundation for oily skin, and none worked. Within 2-3 hours, my foundation looked horrible!, and it would run. My skin was so oily, like it threw oil on my face. I tried Estee Lauder’s Double Wear foundation, which works. It lasts on my skin for around 8 hours. My face does get oily, but it’s not bad; it looks more dewy. Blotting with tissue followed by powder helps minimize the oil; skin looks matte again. The only issue I have with that foundation is that it doesn’t play well with my drug-store concealers.
@belladavid5773

It might be because of your face cream. Try something more mattifying for combination skin I would say. Also, is your foundation water based? And last but not least, always apply translucent face powder all over your face (incl. eye lids) over foundation. Hope you find it helpful :)

NO skin type needs to exfoliate every day. you’ll end up producing more oil by over exfoliating. drop it down to 2x a week and you’ll notice a difference.
@solandis_14

I agree. Besides, exfoliating skin for everyday is gonna ruin our skin's barrier which can lead to acne and sensitive skin problem.

You can use a gentle exfoliator.
@kaitlyn123x
@kaitlyn123x 5 жыл бұрын
sweetlilangel714 ANY kind of exfoliator isn’t good to use on the skin, and there’s no need to do it every day with a proper skin care regimen. all you’re going to do is strip away the acid mantle on the skin and in the long produce more oil, cause acne, pre mature aging, and capillary damage.

To add to the primer recommendations: GRIPPY primers are amazing as well! My favourite is the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip primer. It keeps all products on top from separating, and caking throughout the day and also keeps the skin hydrated, which like Nikkia said at the beginning of the video is super important in helping prevent skin from overcompensating and producing more oil.

The trick about powder before foundation is the best! Works like a charm! I use Bareminerals original foundation and have found even on my mature oily skin really lasts all day and doesn’t cake. Great for summer and feels like nothing on the skin. I also use No 7 serum foundation Or NARS serum foundation over Bareminerals mineral veil in the winter.

Finally, someone who knows how to conquer oily skin!! I've had "skin care professionals" tell me countless times, always use everything oil free, I've had every one of those "no no" concealers recommended to me, I've been consistently told not to "over exfoliate", and to only use products like that once a week.. but none of those recommendations have worked for me. A good oil based serum coupled w a night oil(I love Luna by Sunday Riley! And no, I don't get any kick backs from them, just an honest review;) goes a long way. Thank you for sharing each & every one of these tips, you are spot on sister!!

One thing that has helped me compared to before, was switching out setting spray with alcohol in it (all nighter) to something like mac fix plus. At first, I thought it wouldn’t help, but it has definitely increased the hours of my makeup staying in place and being less oily than before. I’ll see how this turns out in the much more humid months. Even tho its still 75-85°F where i live most days. I also switched from fenty foundation to too faced peach perfect.

Hey nikia I am not a fan of exfoliate everyday. It doesn't matter if the product says for every day. Exfoliating products used on a longer time destroys the normal skin base. Nikia, I love watching your videos but I don't agree that it is particularly cream concealers slide off oily skin. I have tested tons of concealers to cover the thin skin under my eye causing it to look purplish. I used all types of concealers, cream as well as liquid, including the Tarte Shape Face concealer, but literally the ONLY thing that works for me is the Nars Soft Matt CREAM concealer. That is the only concealer that stays on until I wash it off. Unfortunately the Nars cream concealer doesn't come in my skin shade. I just ordered the Mac cream concealer which will probably be like the 25th concealer I'm trying out. They have fair-light shade in waritm which Nars doesn't have so I really hope it will match my skin shade and tone and last as long as the Nars cream concealer.

Very sensible advice. As a woman who has battled with oily and acne-prone skin throughout my life, these are game-changing tips. Thanks a lot! 🥰 PS: I like to remove my make-up using coconut oil. As an Indian, I always have a bottle of coconut oil handy for oiling my hair from time to time. I don't put on heavy make-up often as it tends to cause break-outs but when I do, I make sure to remove the entire make-up with coconut oil just as you have shown here and then double-clean my face with a light cleanser. I don't put on a moisturiser that evening as the coconut oil leaves a little residue and I don't try to scub it all away as it will defeat the purpose of gentle cleansing.

I cannot wait to try your velvet finishing powder. You have always been my “go-to” for my oily skin so I can wear my makeup and not be a shiny, wet mess 10 mins later.

I wonder what's better the Covergirl Pore minimizing primer or the Elf Poreless Putty primer?

I use the rare beauty primer and my skin is SO oily its very lightweight (most rare beauty line products are) and it works amazing for me!

Hi Nikkia, could you please do a trial of the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer? All my friends are raving about it, I’m using the hourglass veil mineral primer on your recommendation and absolutely love it, but it is more on the expensive side! Would love to know what you think of the Revlon one 😁

I love hearing her talk...as for oily skin, I'm 42 and mine is so oily!!...I believe she's probably tried enough products to give good advice....BUT...she said don't buy oil free & pore minimizing...& Then the two primers she recommends are one of each of those...then the oil she said for night time is $117☹️.... it's so confusing, but I'm am gonna try the CoverGirl primer...& An exfoliater...love your videos..ty

Oil free moisturizers work fine for me. Neutrogena oil free moisture works as a good base for my makeup and keep my pores from making excess oil, keeping my makeup matte for longer. I have combination skin btw.

Love your hairstyle here! I actually believe it was because of you that I started using rosehip seed oil (for over a year now!) and it's been so great. If this is anything you know about, I'd like to see a video on how to reduce redness on your face (not just with makeup, but actually lol). Great video!!

Isn't the Hourglass primer silicone-based, though? I love it, but it definitely has that slippy-slippy silk feel to it. Revlon Pore Smoothing Primer is actually my holy grail. It's the one pore reducing primer that actually makes my moon crater-sized pores look invisible, and it doesn't cause cakiness throughout the day.
