1) creating the space: introduction, make client feel comfortable "how can i help?" empathy first 2) go deep like therapy 3) identify and break patterns - use I statements - it's okay to challenge the client 4) followup, keep client accountable

This was a Digestible breakdown with absolute clarity and reinforced examples. Starting at 3:21 it was incredible to watch how curious questions were able to dig deep and open the door in a focused way. It allowed the client to be seen, be vulnerable, and feel safe. She was being seen and cared for at the same time. Absolutely INCREDIBLE. Thank you!

This is great to see how she works as a coach and how the session takes shape. However, and this is just a perception. It seems to me that it would be better to see this Raw, with someone who is not a coach themselves or training to be a coach. Then we can see how the session takes shape and how the coaching is done. Someone who is training to be a coach or is a coach will have familiarity, but someone who is not will be raw and it will take some deep work and intuiting to work with that person. I think that is a beneficial example to break down. Again this is only my perception, but great video lesson.

It is great see how a gifted coaching professional like Christine is able to handle the emotional needs of the coached and, take her into childhood bullying moments and then brings her back to presence and show her how to work those emotions in order not to let then affect her any more in her coaching activities or any other activities. Added value points in the way Ajij explains all parts and what's happening in the entire coaching session.

What I find the most "masterful" in this instance (edit: around 3:30), is not really the follow-up of questions - which is great, but... that is so great... that its basic. Coaching 101 to ask questions to dig deeper. :) What I find so masterful is the fact, that RIGHT before this moment, there was the "let go" moment. "Dont hold back. Is it ok not to hold back right now?" etc, This, to me at least, facilitated the ease and speed of the responses and their absolute authenticity. The questions were great, but if they were not set up like this and the context was different, instead of a speedy honest deep response, she could get a rised eyebrow, or "let me think about that for 20 minutes"... But the setup made the subsequent volley of questions just cut directly through the constructs and right to the core... Impressive :)

@@mindvalleycoach I agree. Simple does not equate to ineffective. Simple actually taps into the ways we learned as kids. How we built patterns initially so we can get back to that place & restructure them in more positive ways. I believe that everyone has some form of a hurt child (micro & macro trauma). Patterns of survival that functioned for the child do not serve the adult. By healing our hurt child, we heal our adult self.

The problem is that whenever someone makes the client "emotional" it is somehow a "success". I am not sure this is always a good thing. Not everyone reacts well when they break down but many need practical solutions rather than getting another "therapy" session from coaches. Just my 5 cents.
@mindvalleycoach4 жыл бұрын
Great point, Angie! We agree different clients need different techniques and tools that work for them. However, tapping into the "emotional" side doesn't always require a "break down." It's important as a coach to know when to continue and when to stop. Thanks for sharing :)
