Wow. You saved me so much time with this tip for removing the panels. So helpful. Do you have anymore videos for Life Fitness ellipticals? My elliptical works great but the resistance doesn't work. Should I check to make sure there is power to it, and, if there is, should I assume that I need to buy a new resistance thingy? How hard is that to install? Thanks.

you seem to be an expert on these.. I just bought a Life Fitness 95X second hand and Im going to pick it up this saturday but now im really worried, I didn't thin the width would be an issue but apparently it's 78CM wide and my door is barely 80CM... how hard is it to disassemble these? Im not terrible with mechanical things, do you need a torque wrench I notice the guides have torque values but then for tools it doesn't mention a torque wrench just normal wrench.. Also do you think two pretty strong men could man handle one out of a trailer into a house? It weighs 200kg but I'm struggling to picture that much weight, and wether the two of us can get it inside ourselves.. picking it up isn't such an issue because there will be 4 of us but once I get it home, only two of us.....? Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Possibly the most helpful and informative video I've ever seen - delivered really well and at a good pace. It was my battery that needed replacing. I've never done this type of thing before - but this video really help. Thanks for taking the effort chum. Jezza - UK.

1:16 I was really really hoping you were then going to show us how to test the alternator.. Do you have any tips to test this? Thanks very much for the battery voltage tip.. I have picked up a dead lifecycle and it's been laying opened up in my living room for weeks haha!! I'll test the battery voltage with my multimeter but I have NO IDEA how to test that alternator!! Advice greatly appreciated
@davids16814 жыл бұрын
If you can scrounge up any other 6V DC power supply (like an old 'wall-wart') you could use it to sub for the battery to test whether that's the problem - or so I think - and it should also do in a pinch to charge up the old battery if it's got any life left. You'd need a basic or better meter to check pretty much anything. If you've got 6.3VDC from the old battery, or something close to that, you SHOULD* be able to connect your DC meter leads to the two battery terminals and get the machine going (hopefully with an assistant) and see the voltage rise at the battery. I'm guessing at full tilt, you'd read around 7.2 volts because in automotive systems, your alternator will put out around 14.5 volts when it's charging your battery. That said, I got here because I'm mystified. My wife stopped using hers during long (LONG) house renovations when there was just no room for it, but I'd already replaced the battery once (after a long travel absence) and didn't have much problem with that process. I note that results were not consistent with disuse and replacement. Even when new, the replacement battery still left the machine dead. My wife didn't care, and used it anyway. During her first or second session with the new battery in place, it apparently charged up enough to light up the display and make the standard beeps and such after she'd used the machine for ten minutes or so, and it was fine for months after that, so I was happy with the 'self-repair.' So that's what I expected this time, and...nope. I'm going to dig in a little further into the alternator. Basically they need a battery/DC source of some kind in order to excite their internal magnetic fields before they can generate electricity (unlike a DC generator). I also am wondering if there's a coin-cell on one of the boards that is intended to hold programmable memory about routines and such, but I haven't used the machine much myself so I don't know whether that's even a feature. Anyway, those cells do go bad, but can be fairly simply replaced if that's the problem.

Hi - I have a Lifefitness CT which was not powering up I put a new 6V battery (Actually larger 5ah) in which powered up initially and now doesn't work. Should I assume there is an alternator issue and if so can I effectively bypass to the battery connectors with a 6V DC plug rather than investigate alternator, or is the alternator powering more than the battery? Would really appreciate advice Cheers CHris

Our CT9100 seems to be draining batteries ! - Got on the machine after 8 months on Non-Use. Battery Dead. Replaced Battery. Machine turns on and off rapidly without even being touched ! - 5 minutes after installing new battery, and display does not start up / turn on while using. Placed battery on stand alone charger - battery needs to be recharged ? Does this sound familiar ? What are our options ?

@Tranacria3 жыл бұрын
Greta vid! Especially the part illustrating the proper technique for cover removal. I’m having random resistance issues. Would appreciate any advice or suggestions… MODEL: Life Fitness X9i (plug-in) YEAR PURCHASED: 2004 (new) WORKOUT ROUTINE: Manual Setting, level 14/10 minutes, then level 13/10 minutes, then level 12/15 minutes. Total 35 minutes in the manual mode, three to four times per week. PROBLEM: The machine randomly increases resistance, normally towards the end of the workout at level 12. The is no indication of level change on the display. The increase feels like two or three levels of resistance. As a workaround, I decrease the levels until the resistance feels like the displayed level. The problem has been occurring regularly for about two weeks.

@@treadheroes thanks for the reply. I seem to have solved the issue. I removed, disassembled and cleaned the control panel, using “Dust Off” and alcohol. I also removed the back panel and used an air compressor to clean all the electrical components. I have not experienced a repeat of the problem since. Hopefully (fingers crossed) it will stay fixed.

How long do the belts typically last. What are the most common parts that fail? I have an 18 year old Life Fitness x3. Foot pedals have become cracked so I'm replacing those. Had to go to a 3rd party seller. Was wondering what might be next to fail. I don't want to find out that a simple part like a belt is no longer available. Maybe I should buy a belt sooner than later.

Great video. I installed a new battery (because it wouldn't start) and all was good. I then tipped the unit all the way to the side to adjust the leveler/feet. Now it won't start. Before I go ripping all the covers off, do you know if this has a safety/tip switch. If so, how is it reset?

Hello! Just changed the 6V battery and the 9V battery on a 9500Hr recumbent cycle. After pedaling it turns on, everything works well till pedaling. If pedaling stops the console turns of instantly. In the diagnostic state, the battery is set to 6V. If I change it to 9V the console stays on but it drains the 9V battery quite fast. If i set it back to 6V everything works OK till i stop pedaling. Verified alternator and it delivers 10V, and the 6V battery is charging normally. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @zsolttorok6315! I have the same 9500hr recumbent bike. The display wasn't lighting up so I put a 9v battery in the back of the console (it was empty so I am assuming it ran off the 6V batter for the 20 years prior). I did one ride, smelled a little funny but perhaps because it hadn't been ridden in a couple of years, and came back the next day to a dead display. Do you know what might be happening? Perhaps an alternator issue or do you think simply replacing the $40 6v battery might do the trick since it drains a 9 volt after 1 ride. When you refer to "setting it back to 6V, what do you mean...is there a switch for doing that? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hello, my screen was not working on 9500HR elliptical. Replacing the 6v battery got it working again. Now when I go to use it and get the resistance level up over 12+ even though I am spinning the elliptical, the screen shuts off and then turns back on after a while. It has not been used for a while, so I was thinking that maybe it needs recharged? Or possibly the reed cable

Thank you for the tips on taking the shroud off. Now, I got hosed on this unit, Life Fitness CT 9500 HRR, by PFC (Professional Fitness Concepts). I have used it approx. 30 times and its not working properly. I had the battery replaced on it once already and was told it needed a new alternator. Well, I have replaced the alternator and still the same thing. Can you help on what else I need to check. I'm afraid it needs the Power control board. Can you do a video on testing the Alternator or how do I check the unit is getting the power it needs? thank you
