Hi! I'm Abbie, a bookworm and cat lady. My husband (Jeff) and I got rid of everything we own (except my books lol) and left sunny California (with our quirky cat Tedward) for gray skies in England. On this channel you’ll find bookish (hauls, reviews) and travel (vlogs, tips, expat life) content!
🔎: american living in the uk, living in the uk as a foreigner, travel to the uk from usa, european couple trip, travel to united kingdom, exploring england, things to do in england

Hi Abbie & Jeff, Sad to know you're leaving our shores soon as I'm sure many of your viewers are, Content wise I think as you are, a bit of everything Travel, Tedward, Books having a general waffle about Life etc I found the idea of going to buy a camera getting distracted and coming back with Type 2 Diabetes quite amusing (Lollies did look nice though!) Anyway all the best for the future & Hope you can make it back to the UK one day soon, Cheers Jim, Surrey X

As a cat owner/servant, I can definitely say that your cat was trying to tell you something. Probably "open the damn packet!". Welcome back to the thankfully cooler climes of our soggy island..............................................the ancient Englishman.

A simple F to C or C to F conversion you can do in your head, it's not exact but it gives you and idea. So 72-30 = 42 then divide 42 by 2 =21 actual temp is 22.222222. It also works in reverse so 21x2 = 42 + 30 = 72. To sum up F to C is take 30 away and divide by 2 C to F is double it and add 30.. You'll be a whizz at temperature conversions 🙂

Is the 6 months of you and Jeff's stay in England almost here? Wow Time flies! In any case, how exciting to look for a new home/location in the States... Wishing you smooth planning and easiest of journey :) I am so excited to read Jennette's book. I love autobiographies...especially if I can get the audiobook yeah! I totally enjoyed Viola Davis's BTW, in case you want to have a go at it :)

I love Viola Davis!! I’ll definitely check her’s out! I’ve never been into memoirs but after reading Jennette’s I’m interested in them now. I’m thinking of picking up Anjelica Huston’s because she talks about her relationship with Jack Nicholson

Have you read "10 minutes 38 seconds in this strange world' by Elif Shafak? Apparently your mind can remain functional for up to 10 minutes after your body has died. This is based on the memories that go through a woman's mind after she is attacked. Very clever

Didn't see the point of the time travel bit of tv paper girls, they just seemed to accept the time changes like they were nothing, even discovering their future selves seemed to be a non event after first few minutes.

I am sad that you are having to return home - are you sad too? It does seem that you have “done” so much in the time you have been here - the opportunities to travel “abroad” and also see so much of GB must have been very exciting. Living so close to Europe and all the countries within it - being able to be in Spain, France, Italy within a couple of flying hours (or the Eurostar!) we just take it for granted. Is it not possible to get a work Visa or a visa extension? Or a company sponsorship to stay here? I just find it ironic that those people who arrive on our shores “illegally” are allowed to stay 🙄😕🤔 rehomed and health treated etc but visitors who come to the UK via the right importation and legal channels are kicked out again..🤯 Do you think - once you are back in the American lifestyle - you would like to revisit this funny, weird, idiosyncratic little island of mine? Stay here on a permanent basis and get to look around ALL the Waterstones in GB (did you get to look in Foyles bookshop in the Charing X Road after all?) and then jolly off to Greece to make a fuss of all the “Tedward” lookalikeys there 😄 Anyway, I hope you have had a fun time here and people have been kind to you - I get the impression that some Americans think the British are cold towards strangers, stand offish and unwelcoming - but, in our defence, it’s just how we are at first meetings - once we have got to know people, then a “stranger” becomes a “friend’ and will benefit from all the casual insults and Mickey taking that “besties” are prone to do, as a sign of love and affection (ooh to name a tune by Joan Armatrading! If you haven’t heard it or her, YT her and it, your ears will enjoy! 😄) For your future posts, back in the US of A, I would like to see your day to day life, what your supermarkets are like (I work for Sainsbury’s!) and how Joe and Joan American have fun. Good luck packing! Xxx

I’m gonna miss it here! I wish we could stay longer 😭 -I’m hoping someday we’ll be able to come back because there’s soooo much we haven’t had time to see. I feel like our time here went by so fast! I will admit though that there are certain places in the US that I deeply miss, like Target 😅. I also miss our 24 hour super Walmarts 😂. You can get ANYTHING there. I’m also hankering for a good American breakfast, Mexican food, and southern comfort food. I do wish we had more chain bookstores though. Barnes & Noble is our biggest book distributor and they’ve been kind of a crap company lately. But, we have sooo many cool independent bookstores so there’ll be plenty of bookstore videos to come! We did make some English friends while we’ve been out here in Europe but ironically we met them in Italy, not the UK 😆 I am not looking forward to going to the airport with Ted 🫠-he was a very naughty boy when we flew here.
