I have always thought that the regular Russian worker is not that different than here in the USA. Most of us would just like to have a life with family without drama. The leaders have their agenda which is not necessarily what the average citizen wants. Wishing you well.

Thank you for making this video. As an American I have been curious as to how the Russian people have been affected by sanctions imposed by western countries. I must say that from your video things seem to be not so bad (by standards I see in Boston, US). I was recently in grocery store and saw high end cuts of sirloin going for $57 a pound. With the war, covid and supply chain issues, Americans are paying a lot for everything. Currently it costs me $150 to fill up my Ford F250 pickup from E to F ($5 a gallon for regular gas). I hope things get better for you and all people across the globe when it comes to living well and affording the basics. I think Russia is a beautiful place with a beautiful culture. Cheese and oil got super expensive the last 2-3 months, the same piece of cheese was 2,2$ before and now was 3,54$. Only a little piece. I saw the old and the new labels on it. Sunflower oil, if you are lucky and still have some stock of the cheapest is around 1,58/litre, but it’s more likely around 2$/per litre. But we have around 22% inflation on food products nowadays. It’s interesting because the of the first 1-3 months of the war the prices were the same, till around April-May then the prices gone up crazy. Also the USD and EUR are crazy they have 1,51% increase and decrease within hours, in December 1$ was 327HUF now it’s 380HUF. Euro was 367HUF, now we reached 400HUF for 1€.

Judging by your videos and those of others in Russia, it seems to me that the shortages and rising food prices there are about the same as those in the rest of the world. I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but there is a significant shortfall in food and fuel production affecting the entire planet this year. While the 'situation' between Ukraine and Russia is certainly contributing to that in a big way, it's far from the only cause. Climate problems, shipping issues, the situation in China... and much more are all playing a part in this growing disaster. It's all a giant, complex mess that doesn't seem ready to get sorted any time soon. We are all dealing with rising prices and shortages. It isn't only Russia. Unfortunately, things are very likely to get much worse before they improve.

You said it mate! I’m in Australia and things are tough already ESPECIALLY for lower income earners. All wrong. It is NOT 'the situation in Ukraine or China' that has influence, but the intervention of completely outsiders. No sanctions - no problems. Russia has never abandoned its trade, food or financial obligations and is the most reliable partner. The severance of relations with such a partner unilaterally led to crises.

We do not have a food crisis, I speak as a resident of the Urals, after a while the shops were filled with our Russian products, and they are not bad, the price-quality ratio is very good, the store shelves are full, and many Russian citizens have their own cottages, where they have their own vegetable gardens, I personally live in a private house, the prices for some products have grown, but now they are already falling, and some products are still expensive, but this is because of suppliers who bought too expensive. In fact, we are now living exactly the same as before February 22, only prices have increased slightly, by about 10-15%, although prices are still somewhere 50-60% higher than before
@mustwereallydothis

@@av1ra285 It's pretty much the same here as well. Food prices have increased dramatically across the entire country and there are occasionally items we have trouble finding. I'm not worried about those of us who can afford the price increases, I worry about those who were barely managing befor food prices nearly doubled. The people who are in serious danger are the poor in developing countries that have to import most of their food and don't have the money to compete for the increasingly limited supply. They could be looking at devastating famin in the near future. The rest of us are simply going to need to make a few difficult lifestyle choices. We aren't going to die of starvation.

Then, they steal $20bn worth of foreign investment in the Sakhlin LNG facility, hundreds of millions worth of airliners and uncounted other foreign assets while insisting on receiving payment for oil and gas in artificially inflated rubles instead of the dollars that were originally contracted for. But let's forget all that. It's the sanctions that caused all the problems. And all the multi-national corporations that will refuse to invest in Russia for generations to come are just being unfair. Military issues should be handled by the military and leave the rest of the population alone. If every citizen is responsible for their governments actions than why are civilians not supposed to be killed in wars? If every citizen is held accountable for the actions of it's government that why not completely exterminate a nation because of a war they conducted we did not agree with? I'm painting a picture that your view can only go so far before it's clear there needs to be a difference between the common population and the people who actually made these bad decisions. I've been in Dominican Republic like 6 years ago, the prices were like 2 fold more expensive than in Russia while the countryside was looking more rundown. Especially Haitian parts. Don't know why, you guys are living in a tropical paradise with the summer year-round and have to spend less money on infrastructure upkeep and do basically nothing to grow food, yet you fairing worse than a country which basicaly have to do complete restoration every spring. And the cigarettes... your entire country is up into tobacco business, cigares are like national ideas, yet all tobacco was 5 fold more expensive than in Russia. WTF? Also, what whas very noticeable, you have a lot more class segregation than in Russia: there's dedicated districts for the poor, rich and so on, the impression is challenging dramatically once you cross the wrong street. In Russia it's kinda mixed up and less obvious. And then of course annoying US students using your country for drunk and drug weekends. Also what was unsettling, you need just 8 hours to reach the other end of a country by car. More, you just need 2 hours when you cross it the other way! Feels claustrophobic.

So it's considered to be the usual price for salt. Sugar has also not gone up in price and neither have ketchup or candy and sugar products, but especially the price of beef and sunflower oil has skyrocketed, a liter of the cheapest sunflower oil used to be $1.37, then it went up to $2.32 and now it's $3.41 for a liter, which is pure madness, considering that you can still often buy 200g of the purest and best luxury butter for $1.37, so you can get 2 packages of top-quality butter for less than the price of 1 liter of the cheapest sunflower oil. Half a kilo of ground beef (8% -12% fat ) has gone up from around $3.41 to $6.83, which is the same price for 400g ground beef 4%-7% fat, if you are lucky and there is a discount, the price will still be around $5.

If anything, Putin can be credited for the aggrandizement of the UN's power (with previously neutral countries now applying for membership) and the separation of nation-states... those states who have separated itself even further from Russia and it's allies as a consequence. Make no mistake about it, this entire event has been one HUGE political failure on behalf of Putin. Unfortunately, for the Russian people, they will really begin to feel the effects of this another 10 years from now when the majority of their technology is Truly outdated. Goodbye Free Enterprise! Hello Communism! This is Putin's wet dream. "Finger on the pulse?!" my ass. lol

Salt in Canada; Our prices vary, depending on what type of salt (options include Himalayan, pink, ionized or not, & surely more) & origins. We generally buy "typical" white ionized salt for $2-$4/kg & prices go up for other types, such as pink, Himalayan costing $5-$7/ kg range. This is Canadian dollars. Ive never seen salt for same price as Russians have.

Well, eventhough the official "average" salary in Russia is considered to be somewhere around 30000 rubles/month = 508 $, but it takes into consideration also the huge salaries of state officials, which can easy reach 500000 rubles/month = 8475 $. In real life, the majority of Russian population, who live outside two capitals, has much smaller salaries, than "average". Fireman in Siberian town gets for full time work 17000 rubles/month = 288 $, nurse - 15000 rubles/month = 254$.

Yeah salt is also pretty cheap here in the Netherlands, although I don’t think we can buy it in large quantities like that unless it’s not for consumption. A bit of salt is around €0,80, and I reckon most of that price is simply the dispenser it comes in. All in all prices there don’t seem to differ too much. I was most surprised about the price of chicken. That much for $6,00 is cheap! Here for €6,00(not the same obviously but not far off) I can get maybe two pieces of fillet at best.

in south Africa, in a mall of 200 stores, you would find that just about five stores are foreign stores and the rest are south African. that is because we pride ourselves in buying our own goods coz that boosts our economy, creates jobs and makes us self-sufficient as a country. China is the most self-sufficient country in the world because they prefer their own brands instead of foreign goods. they have their own MacDonald's, kfc, google, twitter, watsapp, etc. in this day and age, countries should learn to be self-sustainable and self-reliant. When we were growing up, we used to think Russians were the most patriotic people in the world. Building your home starts with patriotism, you cannot build anything of your own if you do not begin by loving and being proud of your country. You cannot be proud of another's country, that is of no benefit to one.

Your claim is bullshit, actually. China ist not by any means self-sufficient but dependent on western technologies and knowledge as well as African resources for its growth. South-Africa is not self-sufficient either but dependent on trade with the rest of the world just like any civilized country. Patriotism is not that good either. It led to a lot of wars in the world and more offen than not it leads to unneccessary frictions and conflicts between countries. The state is not more important than the individual nor makes patriotism and being proud of a country a country wealthy and good functioning. Patriotism just makes you ignore all the bad things of your country, which in the end results in biased and illusionary thinking where even corruption and wrong decisions are framed as no big deal while in fact they are.

@@efkliaathanassiadou233 , i take it you did not read my comment coz I said china is the most self-sufficient country in the world. The word "most" means in comparison☝🏾. This means in comparison with Japan, america or the UK, china is the most self-reliant country. The same goes for south Africa and everything I said giving correlations. Regarding your scepticism on patriotism, it is not patriotism that causes wars, it is stupidity☝🏾. Stupid people do stupid things regardless of patriotism or not. On the bright side, patriotism drives people to build their own country and care for their own. Patriotism pushes leaders to not steal from the public but use public funds to improve lives. Look at china and patriotism today; they build and continue to build china to be the best in the world without starting wars anywhere. You can hardly see Chinese military in any war outside of China, but you will find American and European army in every war in the world. Europe and America start wars in the world and maintain wars in the world and china does not do that coz their patriotism does not allow them to intervene in matters outside of their country other than for mutual benefit

I live in Dallas Texas, Today I had to renew my electricity contract, I will now be paying 17.2 cents Per kilowatt hour, when my expiring contract was at 12.4 cents per kilowatt hour. That’s an increase of almost 37 percent. Gas prices in June 2021 averaged around $2.90 per gallon, now they are around $4.70 a gallon, that’s 62 percent increase. The sanctions boomerang is real.
