Please don’t throw in guilt when teaching your children life skills. My daughter taught my only grandchild how to do her own laundry at the age of EIGHT! My granddaughter is now a sophomore in university and she’s teaching her peers how to do their laundry! Life skills are SOOOOO important!

A Spanish woman here if you live in Valencia levante area you have to check out your machines like coffee and more importantly washing up machines. the water has more hard minerals so it is important use products that destroy that minerals in machines. I am at north and we don't have that problem

I have lived in many different countries for many years and let me give you some advice, if you really want to integrate into a country that is not yours you should "forget" the customs of your country. Going to a Starbucks in Spain for breakfast is like going to eat paella in Buffalo, get used to our meal times, I know they are crazy, but they are like that, you end up getting used to them and you even discover that they have some advantage. In Spain for cultural reasons and also because of the type of clothing we wear, natural fibers, it is not common to use dryers, clothes are dried on outside clotheslines, in the northern areas these clotheslines usually have a roof. Before only clothes that you wanted to dry quickly were dried inside the houses, now with the speculation of housing and especially in tourist areas, the outside clotheslines that faced the interior patio of the buildings have disappeared and that is why in small apartments it is common to see inside clotheslines like the one you use.

We are getting used to the culture here. We are not trying to bring any cultures here. We will also not “forget” our own cultures while at home. Outside, we will respect the new culture we have decided to be a part of. Going to Starbucks here is very common. There are THREE Starbucks within minutes of each other where I live that are always packed with locals working and having breakfast. It’s not out of the ordinary. Thanks for your advice though

Coffee is way better in Europe. If you do any grocery haul. Could you do Mercadona, Carrefour or HiperCor? Those are my favorites in Spain but if you go to Galicia I will recommend Eroski o Gadis. I don't know if you have al Campo and check if you have a Costco nearby.

Hacendado used to do sour cream. Small jar green lid had a Mexican man on the jar. Usually called nata agria in other supermarkets. Lidl usually have it or some larger carrefours, Alcampo or el corte ingles.

Hi Ale….I started following you after i started watching Kat. You two together are just a stitch and I know you miss her terribly. I’ve followed your entire move to Spain and I may have missed something that I was curious about. I know that you guys sold just about everything, especially the appliances because of wall plug and wattage. But I was curious if you guys decided to take at least one car or if with the area that you live, public transport is completely fine. Like, I know if I were to ever move to London, i wouldn’t take mine because The Tube and bus system is just fine. I’m pretty sure you didn’t take one or we would have seen it by now. And as for your parenting skills, I think you’re doing a wonderful job. As a matter of fact, I think you have more strength than others for you to move to Spain with the children that you have and the ages that they are. I know it wasn’t a last minute move but for you kids to be so supportive about the move just goes to show what great parents you two are. Keep up the good work and surely keep us updated as to life in Spain. I thoroughly enjoy living vicariously through you and Kat. I retired from being a flight attendant back in 2019 so it’s fun to watch you two. And let me know about the car situation. If you plan on getting one or if it’s really not needed. I mean you are a family of 5 at the end of the day. Never mind about the vehicles. I just went back and rewatched your video of you guys packing up and leaving MCO and caught the details about selling your cars. But my question does remain about getting one once your settled in over there. Please let us know. Thanks!!

Yeah….not great sour cream. Crema agria just doesn’t do it. Just a little piece of advice, on the coast you have ‘hard’ water. Your coffee machine, washers, dishwasher, showers…..will suffer! Ask your in-laws or neighbors for advice.

What part of El Salvador are you from? My hubby is from Chalatenango. I always tease him that the traditional Salvadorian breakfast is cholesterol rich. When ever I make it for him I tell him, "Come and eat, your cholesterol is ready." 😁😋😋😋

I was just in El Salvador for 4 days, what a beautiful country…the people are amazing. I attempted to climb a volcano 😅 couldn’t finish but it was a wonderful experience! Will definitely be visiting again.
