Nobody was to be executed if i remeber correctly and others were gonna get something decent where they would be out in like 10-15 years or so... Bribes were paid or about to be paid to judges as well.. But then some political stuff happened where Aussies tried to push on Indonesia and the reaction was from top of Indonesian government to deal with Bali 9 with all strickness of their law end result 2 executed and the rest got massive sentences i believe only one of them is out now a girl who got out not very long ago after like 15 years or so. She got the lightest senstence of them all. Politicians fucked it all up..plus journalists. Had it been all quiet and noone involved families could have paid of judges they would get 5-10 years maybe master minds got 15-20 and all be out by now but no Aussie government triied to interviene to skim political points from this and journalists got sent to make a big deal so its all publicized but Indonesia not only didnt bend for them but slapped them back with intensement and then every politician washed hands. It is horrendous. Bali had such a unique and artistic culture. I cannot imagine how it has been harmed by the coarse modern tourism. Why do young people think it is so great to go to another country to get drunk and vomit? They do the exact same thing at home. It isn't as though they are "experiencing" any other culture. The utter lack of sensitivity to other countries' ways of life is obscene. I'm not fan of many of the attitudes towards women held by various religions, but I remember being in Luxor and seeing a British woman walking along the main street in a tiny bikini. Huge breasts barely covered, her arse everywhere. It was obscene in many senses of the word. How could she not notice that this was not the way to behave. It isn't even the way a British woman would behave in the middle on London.

Not like they were top criminal dealers, or habitual traffickers, in their late 20s or 30s + . They were pretty much teens, young and dumb, that tried to make some easy money. That's all it was. Don't deserve life sentence for that sh*t. Smh.

Regarding the Bali9.. I do have sympathy for them, and their families. They weren’t gangsters, or a part of drug cartels. They weren’t even of bad character. They just made an extreme error in judgment, a huge mistake. However, some were just teenagers, they were naive, easily influenced, pressured and some had drug addiction issues themselves. They acted without thinking of the consequences of if they got caught. That shows the level of naivety and maturity. Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were executed by firing squad in 2015. It was a cruel and unnecessary punishment after how much they had rehabilitated, and what they’d managed to accomplish in their lives being inside a prison. Tan Duc Than Nguyen, died of cancer in 2018 in a Jakarta hospital after serving time in East Java. Renae Lawrence, was freed and returned to Australia in 2018. The remaining Five served 20 years of a life sentence. Now all have been released back to their home country, thank god! They weren’t this massive organised drug gang. They were just 9 people who made one big f*ck up!! Everyone makes mistakes, and some warrant a second chance. I believe all of them did! 🙏🏼💔 RIP🪽🤍Andrew Chan, Myuran Sukumaran and Tan Duc Than Nguyen 🕊️ ✝️

@Paul Blackman I doubt they know who set it all up, I reckon that went when the 2 were executed. They were very naive young people with no thought about the future if they ever got caught. When you get off the plane in indonesia,there are signs everywhere telling you that drug smuggling is a death sentence...They rolled the dice and they lost ...Period When people go to other countries and break that countries laws then cry to the world that the punishment is to harsh,im absolutely bewildered
@christac1526 Жыл бұрын
I agree 100 %. They all new and decided to go ahead with it. It has been said it was not their first time bringing drugs back to australia. I have ZERO sympathy for any of them. Done your crime- do your time. Some of them before this were already known to law enforcement for different illegal activities. They all portay themselfes as churchy , good boys- bunch of bolloni i say. They all cry how they have changed. We all change and it is normal progression of life. Why should have any of their change have an impact on their crimes. It does not change them wanting to bring 18 lbs back to the homeland and being part of poisoning people there. Its good they are away from society. Love indonesia with their laws. Wish we had it in my country. Usa is a revolving door in and out of prison. Some guy in new york held people hostage in a store at gun point. After they arrested him his kidnapping charges were downgraded to shoplifting, he was out on bail in no time. Zero jailtime. Our district attorney wants nyork to look like a crime free zone. Very sad here
