The run already looks like torture at this point ngl, how do you expect to keep up with the rest of the game? Or is the worst already over?

Very carefully. With optional battles I can just attempt them whenever I think they’re doable, but I’ve still got some cards up my sleeve for the story battles at this point. I still haven’t done any of the abscesses since Hydra, so I have six additional sources of EXP on hand if I require them, plus the benefit of having those Miracles unlocked. I’ll have to do those eventually but it’ll give me some more room to operate when necessary. I’d obviously prefer not to, but I can also drop a few restrictions later in the game if some battles aren’t doable.

just curious but why are you not skipping the skill animations? They're already long and stiff as it is, in SMT5, not making already long low lefel battles any better

Clearly you don’t know this channel well enough if you think I might have a problem with battles stretching past 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 120 minutes. I’ll put it this way; the game has a certain rhythm to it, and I feel that skipping animations just destroys that rhythm. Also, especially on Enemy Phase, having animations enabled gives me a bit of extra time to evaluate how I can address the situation. Something that you will almost never see me do is fumble around in the menus figuring out what to do because I’ve already decided, even when I’m considering a ton of different options like which demons to swap to (there are a lot of demon swaps in this playthrough) and how to use all of my actions. I’d put my menu-navigating skills up with anyone, even speedrunners, so even if I am letting all the animations play out, I think that many other players attempting the same battle setups wouldn’t be faster than me to an outrageous extent.

They’ve got to catch me if they want me to hang Also, I’ll call their bluff by pointing out that Tom Cochrane, singer of “Life is a Highway”, is a member or the rock band Red Rider, which they must have stolen from the Megami Tensei series even though the band formed in 1975.
