It sounds exactly like True Colors. Deck Nine still hasn't figured out what made the first game brilliant. (tip: It wasn't conversations with a bunch of cozy npcs). Max was dealing with jerks, systemic corruption, and a lot of dark subject matter. Where's the edge? The lessons? The urgency, and cautionary tales? Donnie Darko, Twin Peaks, Back to the Future, The Butterfly Effect, where are their narrative inspirations??

Deck9's quality of writing overall is awful. They seem to miss the mark what the LIS series is, and instead focus on what they think what the fans want. I feel that you are planning to skip DE for LR, you may want to play LIS2 if you haven't done so already.

I don't understand why people would sacrifice Arcadia Bay for Chloe. It is such an incredibly foolish and selfish decision to sacrifice hundreds of people for the life of one person. Think of all of the people you killed by doing that: Kate, Joyce, David (who saved you at the end), Alyssa, Professor Grant, and so many other important characters. It makes no sense, in my opinion, and I think the best and most realistic ending is the sacrifice of Chloe for Arcadia Bay.

Ooo nice angle! I loved that about Max in the first game. She jumps around groups and can’t find where she fits in, but at least there’s something cohesive about these groups of characters to make us care for them. Like if one of these characters were going to jump off a building, mirroring a scene from the first game, I don’t think I would even pause. I’d just say, “see ya.”

I'm the opposite lol I saw Max and Chloe's dynamic as full of romantic tension, whereas as nice a guy and as good a friend as Warren was, I couldn't detect any type of chemistry between them. It's cool to have options in these games, but if you're only being given the two, I wish they were equally worthwhile. I think True Colors is the only LIS game that I ever saw the male prospect as being even remotely as compelling as the female option.

I really hope this is the turning point for ppl to realize this series was never good in the first place. If TWD S1 was an 8/10 carried by the IP and the relative novelty of being a point n click, then LiS was the pale imitation that somehow won a BAFTA with some of the worst characters and dialogue in any game I've played. The fact that ppl deflect and say its supposed to be cringe bc its in highschool have no recourse now that theres been 3 games in a row with just as bad if not worse writing from characters that are older and older. I genuinely think that if Max wasnt the meek, pseudo artsy self insert that she is and the soundtrack wasnt decently picked indie literally no one would remember this series

Same feeling, don't know why people are acting as if the first game was a GOTY game, when I remember when it came out, a lot of the "problems" that are presented here were the exact same problems people made fun of it in the first game. The cringy writing, unlikeable/half-written characters, etc... You are right with the soundtrack though, the soundtrack, for me personally, carried the fck out of the first 2 LiS with Max and Chloe, found my favorite band with Daughter. It's the only reason why I keep up with this series. To see if I can cherry pick and find a new good band lol. I never liked the LiS series, but, but, I was willing to give this one a chance, because the characters were grown up and it had the murder-mystery angle more in the forefront.

The plot is dissapointing. The atmosphere is lacking. I didnt feel much at all during my playthrough - no crying, no laughing, no nostalgia. The first game was so beautiful and deep, but this one was just nothing. And of course the devs saying "we are respecting both endings of the first game" was a big fat lie. It felt like they genuinely hate Chloe. I regret purchasing the ultimate edition. I no longer support this franchise, decknine and square enix. They will never get a cent of my money ever again. RIP life is strange.

Probably because the game went woke, I mean Gwen is a guy who probably did surgery, and it feels more gay to me. Plus Max although pretty girl lost her rewind powers and that sucks cause the whole point of her powers in the sequel was to see it upgraded, rewind plus parallel warping, they could have done an insane storyline with that, and copied Sliders tv show with friends being dragged into another dimension same world but different circumstances, and get into dangers etc.. but Max can't control her powers so every few episodes she drags them with her to a new one, and they searching for a way home. I'd rathe that then just switching between 2 worlds.

The LiS were always woke af, kinda obvious they would have incorporated more "woke" political stuff that has been going on since the first one came out like a decade ago. Although I do agree, they had a good premise going on with the new powers, murder-mystery angle, but looks like they did not explore it to the full potential in favor of the more social commentary.

@@lachancla3723 Not always like that m8, I remember a time when nobody was woke 1980's you had the odd balls like Boy George but that was it, somewhere around 2010 it started to get more and more it was very subtle, until 2019 when BLM started and then every woke person started coming out and doing weird shit to their bodies. What I would of had was fixing arcadia bay at least for a new alternate reality, and have Max take Chloe with her to the new reality to live in, Amber is alive in it, duplicate ARcadia Bay, but would also have it progress into something sinister like Max also drawed in a shadow creature that is tailoring them, Max Chloe and Amber are playable characters after completing the game, Max with her time powers, Amber with her beauty powers controlling men, and Chloe with her bitch powers lol I would have also got some other friends with the group to figure this creature out, only something else happens Max loses control of her power not only can she rewind time again, but also opening the door to infinite realities, so one time all 8 of the friends in one room get sucked into another reality, and each reality is same place but different dimension meaning anything is possible, dangers lurk every corner, people are different, and every episode is a new parallel world where Max drags them all over again to a new one, all whilst being chased by a shadow creature that is out to get them. Imagine that storyline rather than a typical oh murder mystery of Safi who I didn't even know or care about in the game?lol These square developers are really noobs.
