I worked at McDonald’s when I was 16 years old. I remember my arm constantly getting burned by oil splashing from the grill. I told my supervisor about it and requested to work cashier/drive-thru. Then a 50 year old lady co worker rolled up her sleeve to me showing burn scars and telling me to stop being a baby. These establishments don’t care about you and you’re just a number to them. Do what you have to do to make ends meet, but always be striving for more in life.

I know not everybody is cut out for it, but an able-bodied man can get a job laboring in some kind of construction making double (or more) than working fast food. When I was a student, I worked for 4 years at a Russian McDonald's, which was the largest in the city. My managers were good people who thought I was a good employee. I didn't have many problems with customers at the restaurant, but one day my colleague was hospitalized after being beaten by drunken assholes. But working at the drive thru was one of the most difficult moments and is most realistically shown in this video. It's been 4 years since I quit there. I remembered working at McDonald's 10 years ago and this is really spot on. You had a customer complaining about some minor bullshit and people literally asking for stupid stuff. One time I saw a customer actually threw a fries to one of the staff because it looked like there weren't enough. You have some immature customers coming in from time to time. Few days are good and majority of the days can be a real pain. I once saw a customer who refused to pay and something similar happened to one of the girl that worked at McDonald's. She literally had a drink thrown at her.

There really ARE better jobs out there right now. I live in a very small, rural town in NE Ohio and I can rattle off 5-6 Construction companies within a half hour drive of me just looking for people to at least SHOW UP consistently starting at like $20-$25 an hour (at minimum). $20 an hour isn’t anything in Cali or on the East Coast, but it’s a great starting pay in a small Midwest town. Companies in places like Cali are probably paying $35+ an hour just to start out with no experience!!

I've witnessed or lived everything that's portrayed + more (customers that accused me of stealing their money, which they took back from the desk while i was collecting their food; expired food served; tips being stolen by the managers; workers forced to quit while held at gunpoint by the store manager...) I got fired after one month because i wasn't shutting down the fryer alarm quickly enough during rush hour. 11 years later i'm an orthopedic surgeon, while the manager that fired me is still working the same job at that same restaurant. Guys struck in the rat race, keep grinding on yourselves and you'll get what you deserve 💪

The issue i see is management of these fast food places put profits above anything else and that tends to promote the worst kind of managers. The most relatable thing is the drive thru in my opinion. If you're going through drive thru, know what you want and make your order relatively fast while making it as accurate as possible. The last thing we want is to have you ordering a meal for the entire bloodline, saying "ummm" for five seconds after every order, then a pile of cars stacking behind you because of how long it's taking. Not only is it better for you since you get your food faster, it's better for the employee, and the people behind you waiting.

He wasn't filming or anything, but he acted like a total narcissist. He got upset that our keto option was basically anything without a bun and sauce. Then his hype man stayed at the counter for a second and started telling me that people just don't get him, he's just so much more advanced than us as we all have a lot to learn from him. He proceeded to film his friend for a vlog or something while he ate a grilled chicken with a piece of cheese on it. They seemed to act like they were from a different planet. I worked in Mcwages as well for 4 months, and let me tell you... even if you dont want to you really start to hate on the customers, from the annoying overly loud teenagers inside the store to the karens the boomers and the obnoxious dude bros in their car in the drive thru. The reason you hate them is not because they are loud or annoying, its because without realizing it they slow you down during work. There is a lot of pressure to get things done quickly, even more so at the drive thru, and the last thing you want is a bunch of people who are not ready to order pulling up to the window : Me: Hello what can I get you. Customer: Uuuuuummmmmm.... hmmmmmmmmm? Like dude... there was a queue to get to the order window and you had to wait like 10 minutes and you still havent made up your mind???!!! That was a massive problem mostly because we were almost always understaffed meaning if you worked in the drive thru or at the front counter chances are your help was very much needed elsewhere as well. But over all it was ok, I had a 30 min break and a free meal to go with it and the overwhelming majority of the people that worked there were very good, honest and hardworking, including most of the managers who actually stuck up to the staff whenever we were in the right.

Me too and I think that is the best position they offer. Sure we did the dirty work but not dealing with customers or food was bliss. As a introvert I also enjoyed never talking to coworkers 😂 Only negative was if somebody puked we had to clean it or when you're off and people just fuck the dumpster area up because they're too lazy to lift trash into the dumpsters so they just toss it on the ground sometimes making bags rip. I don't miss it at all

@@Openup0911 I rarely talked to my co workers either and one asshole manager that used to work there before I left told me to keep working if I talked to a co worker. He even tried to fire me one time if I don’t sing at the restaurant’s karaoke event they had to celebrate the new building’s grand opening. I dealt with like three customers while I was cleaning. So glad I’m out of there too.

I can relate I was a maintenance inventory guy myself but I also had to help out in the kitchen so I did a little of everything. Without us the place would fall apart quickly as I discovered all too often. Luckily I do something better for work with better pay at a different company now.

It is mental torture and it isn’t right. I recommend you surround yourself with beauty, truth and goodness. Christian faith really helps with this. There is a redemptive quality in your suffering. But also, you have to surround yourself with beauty and goodness, because ultimately you become what you surround yourself by. Such situations happen rarely enough for you to have hope of continuing to be in the job, but often enough to make you hate it

I worked in customer service for 8 years and completely relate to this. However, employees should also remember that there are wonderful customers who show us respect and try to brighten our day. I've encountered situations where employees can be rude, and it's important to recognize that respect is mutual. We should appreciate and acknowledge those customers who make an effort to uplift us also.

Yeah it really isn’t rocket science- just come to work with a halfway decent attitude and don’t get sucked in by the lazy/worthless employees. Put your head down and work… but people argue with me all the time that working hard will get you nowhere, apparently 🤷‍♂️. I beg to differ because it’s gotten me far in life- a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic. Doesn’t work at EVERY job, but it’s helped me my entire life.

As someone with a mother like Kevin's (literally threw a fit over one package of dressing not being enough for a side salad until she got it and remembered how small they actually are), I feel almost as bad for him as the employee. I definitely feel worse for the employee. Honestly, it took me years to actually point out legitimate mistakes in my order I so badly wanted to avoid being like that.

I go out of my way to be courteous to service workers because I know how much that job can suck. The worst part about service and retails jobs is the interactions with people; I used to think that most people were inherently good but working in both fast food and sales in the past taught me otherwise. Most people will seize on any amount of power over others that falls into their lap, and wont even realize that they're shitting on someone else while they're doing it.
